The Inn, I suppose it’s the “atmosphere”, if you are into, “out in the country”, no phone service, no tv. Staff, a lot of young people, are very friendly & accommodating. They couldn’t be nicer, same at The Gathering Table. The food is good, really sweet wait staff, chef is really nice, food is very good! Best chicken wings EVER! Great steak! If you want off the grid, zero luxury, this could be what you’re looking for.

Had a fantastic meal at the gathering table last night! started with a fantastic bottle of Zinfandel from Adelaida in Paso Robles, then shared octopus (perfectly cooked) and a delicious caesar salad using sesame oil in the dressing and black sesame seeds on top — YUM! Jim had the hangar steak with a Korean influence and I had the duck — the best I've had since being in France! dessert — the best creme brulee I've ever had — super creamy with the perfect crunch. Jim had the chocolate cake with homemade ice cream. Superb from beginning to end and Jared and Jorge made the perfect team taking care of us. Highly recommend!

The location is only 10min away from the major Solvang shopping area. It’s so peaceful and sophisticated that we had a great Father’s Day dinner at Gathering Table outside. All the meals were so tasty and amazing. Our waiter was so knowledgeable about all the menu they have. Octopus is so soft melt in mouth! Chef is from Indonesia so it’s like Asian fusion, California cuisine. We’ll definitely coming back here next time coming to Solvang again. Thank you for the great meals!

We ate our Thanksgiving dinner at Gathering Table. It was absolutely amazing! we highly recommend it!

Had dinner last Sat for our son’s 28th birthday. Disappointed we waited so long to go! Food was stellar! We enjoyed each of the 6-8 things we shared, but the crispy skin loup de mer was everyone’s top favorite.

Great service and food. Location to Solvang and wineries is perfect.

The inn is wonderful but the bed was a bit uncomfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. We stayed in the Valley Room, which faces the back and was very quiet. Highly recommend the restaurant.

$$$ level. Collection of marvelously thoughtfully delicious fusion fair; and unhurriedly, friendly, and attentive service, from breakfast, lunch, to dinner. Perfect for special occasions. One small thing (Literally) — — when you order the appetizer oysters, do expect the super tiny oysters. They were lovely and fresh, though. Perhaps I missed the description section. Lesson learned. :)

They made us feel like we were the only guests there for the night. Awesome dinner and breakfast… And the happy hour with wine and cheese was an awesome way to end the day.

Such a beautiful, peaceful spot from which to ride bikes, wine taste, hike and explore the Santa Ynez Valley. Bonus is The Gathering Table restaurant, definitely one of the best in the valley. Loved the wine/cheese happy hour. :)

Jim and I had dinner at the Ballard Inn tonight and were delighted with the cuisine as well as the service. Karen, from the Olive Press, a fabulous shop in Solvang, recommended that we try it. It's a unique dining style where you order several small plates to share. The biggest challenge will be to decide which is the most delicious. The owner/chef is "inspired". We experienced many unique flavors that tickled every tastebud… A few. Minutes out of Solvang, this is a must try for those who love good foods and unique dining experiences. We live in Oregon so spent a few days on Solvang. We head back tomorrow, but will find our way back to this amazing restaurant as soon as possible. Loved it!

Beautiful and rustic inn with cozy but tastefully appointed rooms with fireplaces. Awesome location near some of the best wineries in Santa Barbara County.

Had a fantastic stay in the winter of 2015. Got the room on a spur of the moment trip. Staff was fantastic. Atmosphere was second to non. Room was outstanding. Took on of the bikes down to Solvang for a day of wine tasting and came back with many bottles of wine. Built a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed a great evening. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Food was exquisite! Paired with local wine from Buttonwood. Chef Budi has amazing talent! Ballard Inn is such a beautiful, romantic place. Intimate setting. Definitely a place to be with a significant other or intimate friends. Have a glass of wine while sitting on the porch and enjoying the afternoon.

Food was delicious, good local wine list. The chef Budi came by the table several times to check on us. The food was divine. Upscale dining with a little bit of an Asian twist. Everything was delicious!

We had an amazing time & we look forward to coming back. The Inn, staff, amazing restaurant and small touches like cookies left on the door in the evening, the books you can sign in the room that other guest have wrote in and to see where others have traveled to stay there made this place really stand out. The fire place downstairs was a nice relaxing spot to drink our wine and talk and upgrades made the stay feel comfortable and welcoming.

My husband and I had the most wonderful, relaxing stay at this lovely Inn. The meal was extraordinary, the ambiance was restful (even though they are re-modeling), the staff was welcoming and made us feel as if we had come "home", the other guests were fun to visit with as they were there to rest and relax also, the service they provide is excellent and we cannot wait to go back and stay for a longer period of time! We highly recommend this sweet, lovely, hidden gem!

Are you kidding me? Cross your best B&B with the amenities of fine let me repeat incredible dinners with a "young" and enthusiastic staff that actually want you to be a guest here and have a wonderfully romantic. Warm & refreshing experience … and nothing short of your own boat over 65 feet totally crewed off the coast of Bora-Bora would come close. Thanks to all that worked to make this work for us …

The romantic cozy setting, attentive service, and the scrumptious dishes makes the Restaurant at the Ballard Inn as good as it gets! The price was reasonable and everything was absolutely delicious, amazing! The Ballard Inn is one of the most romantic Inns and being there gives you a nostalgic feeling of Anne of Green Gables. Even when I wasn't a guest staying at the Ballard Inn, the front desk clerks were super nice and attentive while we were waiting for our table. The restaurant is small making it an upscale cozy dinner. Luckily, I was seated in the corner next to the fireplace that offered a little bit of privacy. The staff here were all 5-stars, A+ service! There were a couple of specials that night and I would suggest everyone to get at least one specials because the offer constantly changes. I got the beef tongue, which was so tender that it was falling apart with one bite! I also ordered the Pork Chop, bone-in, and the Duck. I favored the Pork Chop over the Duck since the Duck was more medium than medium rare, just a preference. The Chef seems very creative in his mixtures and sauces to pair with the Meats, every bite was a nice surprise. Note: The Restaurant at Ballard Inn doesn't offer free dessert for birthdays, but they do provide a candle on the dessert you order or bring. Free Coat Check is also available. Last but not least, make reservation, it's a small and popular restaurant… it tends to fill up!

Good food, good service and very friendly local.

This was our first experience at a B&B and it was really nice. I was surprised at the cleanliness of the property and competence of the staff. Very quite room except for a little street noise. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The room didn't come with a TV or Phone but all I did was ask and they brought both in at no charge. Great location too as it's close to Los Olivos and Buellton (Sideways was filmed there). Will definitely stay there again.
