Very disappointed with staffs here. First of all, the Indian lady who works at front desk (I assume she is manager) the way she talk was so rude and I don’t feel caring and hospitality from her, not sure how can she work in hospitality. The guy at the lobby that I checked in with earlier supposed to block a twin bed room for us, as of our reservation is twin bed. I went out after because he said the room wasn't ready, then I come back in the afternoon and the lady said the twin room is sold out. I was very disappointed on how they talk to customer, no wonder why they got 3 stars rated on Yelp. I am a gold member of Marriott Bonvoy and I am not happy with this and not coming back for sure. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone as well.

I don’t write reviews, but this is how upset this hotel made me. I travel a lot for work, and I have stayed at lower, middle, and upper class type of hotels. Not even the cheapest one I’ve been at has been nearly as disappointing as this MARRIOTT hotel. First day, made me go all the way to the lobby 4 times to fix my key card. It’s such a huge hotel, and my room was all the way around. So for a person who works 14hrs + days 7 days a wk, and then having to continuously do this trip to the lobby to fix a key card that shouldn’t be giving issues in the first place. Second, they obviously don’t keep their employees long? New face every time and they were obviously new because they didn’t know how to do their job well. Third, not a decent working fridge. No microwave? Every hotel I’ve been to has microwaves. Fourth, their employees love to lie. Called many times to fix issues with my receipt, they said they would fix and email me an updated receipt. That never happened, same receipt with the same issue. I mean what in the world? Aside from the very nice bar and decent gym downstairs, this hotel is absolute garbage, a waste of money and a waste of my very little free time that I get. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! comes from a person whose job forces to pretty much live at hotels, I had never had any issues till now. So I had to make you a favor and write this review.

The newly updated areas are fantastic and I loved the concierge lounge. Can't wait to see the rest of the updates such as the rooms which show some age.

The renovation is fabulous … the service was amazing,, the food was delicious, cocktails Offer all kinds of fun things… from incredible Japanese whisky to exciting new Local cultural cocktails simple basic to extravagant craft beer… Definitely worth stopping by or booking a room :)

We loved our over night stay at the San Mateo and our room was fantastic with the kids calling it “fancy. ” I loved our bathroom even if there wasn’t anything really special about it. The workout center is efficient enough but could use some weight machines and the pool looked to be quite popular with it even including an adult pool area with later hours to get away from the kiddos. Unfortunately we went while it was under renovation and didn’t get to check in through it’s neat frontal exterior which has a great esthetic to it. I hope to stay here again in the future and find an experience that has me adding a star.

The ceiling was very low in the halls and it felt cramped. The lobby was not in the front and you had to look for it. The hallway was long and felt like it never ends. They forgot to put towels in our room after they cleaned it, so I had to use a wash cloth to dry after a shower. Also the TV in our room didn’t work. Plus the hotel is very far from everything. If you are going for vacation don’t go here. You have to drive or get a cab for an hour almost to get to San Francisco. Also when we got there they were testing the fire alarms and they kept going off and stopping every 30 minutes or so. In the morning the fire alarm went off and stopped again and woke us up very early and suddenly. The only thing that was okay was the bed and the size of our room was pretty good.

Ruined my sons birthday trip to the bay area, are room had broken phone, broken fridge with water all over carpet and stunk like somebody hot boxes the room. They offered to move us said they would be right up with new keys well 45-50min later finally brought us keys making us miss the show we bought tickets for already… The new room we had most of the TV channels didn't work and that room smelt like somebody hot boxed it…

Conveniently located to the area & the airport. A good sized property that appears to be able to handle numerous functions of varying sizes. In that theme, the rooms are quite spacious. The property overall however is in need of renovation & updates. The good news is, that is exactly what they are in the midst of doing. The highlight for my stay was the concierge lounge — one of the best I have experienced — spacious, top shelf food selection, with a chef and crew on top of their game. Well done.

Rooms are pretty good, not that good TV channel listings. Reception staff is pretty good and friendly. Hotel is Bigg, do ask for hotel map from reception since few elevators, and hotel is pretty close to San Mateo downtown as well as airport.

The layout is confusing, the elevators are confusing. Breakfast is paid, Wi-Fi is paid. Otherwise the room was nice, but the common areas were under renovation.

Excellent hotel in every way, except for one. I was with my goddaughter (43 year difference) and the hotel clerk immediately put us in a room with ONE bed! I had made the reservations for two beds. I told her that it was disgusting that she assumed we were lesbians because we were two women together. I told her to look at the age discrepancy. She was so embarrassed that she upgraded our room to a beautiful suite with two beds! San Francisco for you!

Nice facilities, sadly is still being remodeled and is lacking some servives, such a larger gym which it used to have. Staff is incredibly friendly and polite, food is very good, brealfast could have more variety though. The area is nice, and not too far from different activities.

This hotel is in a nice location with a large number of conference rooms. The conference rooms are organized into sections around the second floor and some on the first floor. The hotel staff are helpful and willing.

I've been here before. Great service, though it's a bit hard to navigate. It's currently under construction, but they've been exceptionally accommodating to Baycon staff because of that.

Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Very convenient for the airport with their shuttle. This is a pretty old hotel. I'm glad they are refurbishing it and it'll probably be pretty nice in a year or so.

It looks preety old and everything is kind of dusty. Also, most of the time you will hear car/truck beeps and engine sounds (specially at night) in your room which is annoying and I couldn't sleep. I went just by the name of Marriott, but its disappointing!

Bath tub drained extremely slowly so you are standing in water when your shower is over. Blow dryer only worked when you held the plug firm against the jenky outlet. No restaurants in the area, none. There was a long black hair in the tub upon arrival. They are remodeling so there is no restaurant to go sit at so you are forced to eat the over-priced room service. The reg desk is tucked into some weird alcove that you have to seek out. The decor is from the 80s so if your hair is still styled in wings, you will love this place. For the over $500 a night cost I would expect much more. Save your money, stay someplace else. Total dump.

Not really recommended for tourists. Staff is quite nice, but the rooms do not have the quality that the lobby promises. Also too far outside of the action.

The room (s) were huge! Great king bed, separate living room, and decent bathroom. There are two workout facilities, one for strength and one for aerobics. They were very nice and I was able to stay for while away from home. They are in the middle of renovation but it did not in any way effect my stay. Really enjoyed it — if business brings me back to the Bay area, I'll stay here again.

The hotel is currently under construction. There is no hotel restaurant at the time and no nearby restaurants within walking distance. You are given the option of the somewhat nearby 7-Eleven or Trader Joe's. I would discourage any visitors from checking in this hotel until the construction is complete which is anticipated to be 5 months to 2 years. The only way to get food is to order room service, limited menu and they charge you the fees associated with room service. There can also be long waiting times for room service. Fitness facilities also limited due to the construction.

The internet could improve, everything else excellent. Right now they're in remodeling a couple of entries but it doesn't really affect.

This is a great hotel. I stayed for a few days on business, and the staff and service has been so nice and helpful! The room is nice with good water pressure for a hotel! :)

There for a wedding. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was helpful and friendly. Currently doing some renovations which takes away from the aesthetic a little bit.

An excellent conference hotel.

Expensive, promises more in the lobby than it does in the rooms. In the end it is a very simple hotel, where you want to sleep maximum. Environment is rather rude and very off the shot right on the highway. Free shuttle to the airport so that you can then ride the beard to the city is only 1x per hour… for private holiday It would definitely not mine,

It seems to be a good place to organize big events. I went to a wedding with 300 people and everything went well even with other events in the same place happening simultaneously.

Had a wonderful evening at the Marriott. Very helpful and supportive staff, clean rooms and very comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was delicious and filling.

The service was great. I was there for a wedding so I don't know much about what the hotel has to offer. The lobby and the conference room was very clean and well kept.

You’re reading reviews for a reason — because you want an answer. Here’s my answer: If you’re being asked to pay $50/night — do it! If you’re being asked to pay $399/night — disgusting. Outdated, none of the ‘upgraded’ charging stations actually work, you’re 85% likely to be in an ice machine, elevator or flight path, and the decor makes you feel less at home and more at your grandmas. There’s no food after 10pm other than a rapey 7/11 a few blocks away and the night staff has no clue what’s going on. I don’t think this is because they’re idiots; I think it’s because management completely abandons them and provides no support for the inevitably angry residents that feel cheated. Don’t stay here, don’t work here, don’t enable Marriott to overcharge people who could be much more satisfied with a cockroach-infested whorehouse a few blocks down.

It was good overall, except the layout of the hotel was pretty confusing and required a lot of walking and turns to get to your room. Also, I put the Privacy sign on my door for my entire stay, but housekeeping still went in and made up the room, which felt so invasive. Other than that, everything was great — beautiful hotel, friendly staff, and nice little shop downstairs with Starbucks and snacks.

Attended a wedding here. It seems like a fine mid-level hotel. The lobby is an art deco style, which is kind of strange. The rooms seemed fine. The courtyard was a nice wedding venue. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful!

Nice place with good rooms and facilities. Pretty near, walkable, to 7-Eleven and Raid Aid to buy any day 2 day stuff, if you need. Have a good restaurant and also a To Go breakfast counter and starbucks coffee served… Staff is helpful. Note: Parking is not free and very expensive. $24/day, If you don't take the room package with parking.

The hotel gave us an older room and parts of the wall fell down during the night, so we woke up and had a very bad night which troubled our vacation plans as a result. We were offered free parking as compensation which is a bad joke.

Just a quick overnight stay for a wedding in town. The place was nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean, towels everything was fine. I'd stay again.

Rooms could use some TLC, which is the only reason I didn't give five stars. Very, very nice staff. Pretty good food for a hotel restaurant.

Saturday night was not satisfactory. Room 1 was next to the laundry and pipe noises all night, couldn't sleep. Room 2 was great except for the mosquitos. Room 1 also had mosquitos. Moved rooms on Sunday and had a much better sleep. Had a great breakfast in the restaurant.

Very nice hotel. Stayed here for a wedding. Nice rooms & all around beautiful hotel. A bit pricey but definitely one of the nicest Marriott's I have stayed at.

The staff is amazing! Hotel needs some work. Furniture is scuffed up, a friend got a room that had mosquitoes in it and had to be moved. The staff is super friendly though, everyone was super friendly and accommodating! And if you happen to be one that has access to the concierge lounge, seriously one of the best I've seen as far as the food spread!

I got room 3136 and the service was great. I used the room in preparation for my wedding reception located at your hotel. Everything was wonderful. I had a great time. Thank you for making it possible.

Room 2089 has some peeling paint and a faint musty smell. Tried to charge me for parking, but when I said no they offered free parking with no parking pass required. Accommodated a large Indian wedding with multiple venues that was fun. Close to airport.

Great location close to airport, and San Jose. Good access to highways. Rooms are big enough. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. Now the bad. Not many choices to eat nearby. Interior is outdated could definitely use a refresh. Actually outdated is an understatement. Definitely not a four star temper your expectations. At best this is could be a three star.

The lobby is lovely, front desk associate as well. Then it went down hill from there. Smelly elevator. Blood on a pillow case! Admitted by the staff member who came to exchange for a new, much smaller, pillow. Additionally, I would expect a more efficient shuttle schedule (airport is in the title of the hotel), though it only ran once an hour, and not early enough for my 6:15 am flight. Disappointing, certainly will not come back.

What a great staff here. I was wearing a cast and not bearing weight on my ankle yet, so had to have an accessible room. They made sure I had everything I needed. Rooms are like suites. Hallway needed vacuuming only down side. The restaurant even made me a grilled cheese sandwich even though it was not on the menu. All the aspects of our conference rooms were perfect too. Hope CTA returns there many times!

We've stayed here multiple times and everything is as expected from a high end hotel; friendly staff, clean rooms, well coordinated meeting rooms, & fabulous sheets. If you host a meeting, consider spending the extra dime on a coffee service. The line really backs up in their intimate coffee shop. Tip: just around the corner is a Trader Joe's & a wonderful dive, The Pantry.

Well what can I say. I have stayed at many Marriott hotels and is this absolutely one of the finest. The staff is super friendly the room is fantastic and bar none the concierge's lounge is the best I've ever been in. The food at the concierge lounge was excellent. I can't say enough about this facility.

They didn't have even an electric heater.
All the corridors were cold.
Ac technician informed me that they are not allowed to touch the main house temperature when I asked him to increase the main supply temperature so that it gets hot in my room.
I didn't feel like I was in a 5 star hotel as even some 1 star hotel have better heating system then this hotel.
Staff are very friendly & helpful it's just that the big Boss is trying to cut cost.

I recently attended a work conference/dinner. You have to pay for parking but they gave us a 50% off stamp, which was really nice. They served dinner promptly and cleared the tables without disrupting the presentation. Management within our company plan on returning for more events like this in the future.

Was a guest for the night and the accommodations are excellent. Clean rooms, freindly staff, great restaurant and good location realative to the airport. No complaints at all.

Worse Place Ever Never Had A Problem with Any Other Marriott This Place You Had to Pay for Parking and No Late Check Out. No reason Why which Was Ridiculous. Place Might Look Nice but It's Not all That Fancy to Be Treated like That. I Can Say Best Part of This Marriott Was The Gym and The Valets. Clean environment indeed.

Location is good. 20min waking from downtown San Mateo where you can find comfy Japanese restaurant and healthy coffee and tea place. 10min walking from the train station from where you can take a train to downtown San Fransisco in 40min costing about $5. There is also 7-11, Rite Aid and Ross cross the street. From fast food to grocery to discount shopping you can get pretty much all your needs here. Rooms is pretty spacious. Clean and comfortable. Enjoyed staying here.

I have stayed here many times and have enjoyed it almost every time. The beds are comfortable, but the pillows are always too flat. The rooms are always clean and have kurig coffee machines in the rooms. Good water pressure and quick hot water. Amazing workout center with one room for cardio and one room for weights and machines. The front desk staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Went here for a work dinner. Catering service was excellent, but bar service was very overpriced. $12 for one ounce of liquor.

Got upgraded to a corner room. Only gripe is small tv, and I cannot connect my Chromecast to it.

Everyone is quite friendly. Service was decent, coueteous and quick. Room was pretty nice and clean. The location was convenient from the airport and for nearby businesses since its so close to the highway.

Very nice, clean rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is great… about 10-15 mins to SFO. Same for shopping and good restaurants. The only downfall is the price for breakfast. They offer a buffet for $25 for adults and $12.50 for kids. Nothing different than what you get included in your stay at a Holiday Inn. Not worth the money, but the people were very nice and the service was good.

Located at the base of the San Mateo bridge, it's hard to beat the location. The parking is expensive, this far out of the city. Rooms are nice and the public areas are well appointed.

Broken elevators without signs, inflexible front desk staff, smelly hallways. I don't recommend this place, there are better hotels in the area for better prices.

The hotel itself is good and clean. But the people at the front desk is arrogant and rude. I have never been talked to like this by a front desk. He did not greet me when I check in and did not say thank you when I check out. He even BLAMED me for speaking too fast that he did not catch my name and confused him. Unbelievable!

Hotel is located right off the freeway. Stunning outdoors and building. Pool is really nice too. Rooms were standard, but comfortable. Their staff, service and catering is second to none in the area. Highly recommended.

The area immediately around this hotel is not walkable — busy roads and just okay neighborhood. But it is super convenient to the airport, San Francisco and Stanford University. Great value, very pretty on the inside and an attentive staff.

Great Value and Good Location We stayed 4 nights at this Marriott hotel during our Memorial Day long weekend trip to San Francisco. We had three different reservations for these 4 nights and did have to go to the front desk again every time we supposed to check out-even though they did know that we are staying for whole 4 nights and agreed that we stay in the same room the whole time. Would appreciate that if they just consolidated our reservations the first time we checked in. Very nice heated outdoor pool and spa and we used it every morning during our stay — what a great way to start a day! Many weddings held in the courtyard area but still rather quiet so that we had good night sleep during our stay. Nice, clean, and comfortable room. The house keeping staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice lobby and Wi-Fi internet is free only in the lobby/pool area. We took the Taxi to this hotel from the SFO airport (cost about $30) since we arrived late at night (past the free shuttle time 5AM-9PM) and used the free shuttle (hourly) back to SFO that was about 15 minutes ride. We walked to Caltrain Hayward Park station (~ 10 minute walk) and took the train to San Francisco downtown. We enjoyed mission district and downtown San Francisco. As long as you know the train schedule, this is a great way to stay somewhat outside of the city area for a much more reasonable price and better amenities-such as pool and spa and larger rooms.

Nice Hotel, room service was fast and the breakfast was very good! Me and my wife are coffee lovers and it was disappointment not to have a good choice of coffee in our room, only one cup, the rest was just tea. But in general the staff was very friendly and willing to help.

My husband and I stayed in the executive king suite room 1051 and we absolutely loved it! the room was clean, the staff was very friendly, and it was quiet! we were also very happy with the discounted parking. Initially, we saw parking was $24/day, however at check-in, we were told it would be discounted to $12. I would give it a five except for the price we paid we would have liked the elevator next to our to not be out of order. Also, in some areas it smelled like there was a water leak or something. Over all, we would definitely stay here and recommend others to stay here. The lobby smelled really good too.

Additional $24 per night for parking, $12.50 per night for internet, not enough towels in the toilet, lots of hairs on the sofa bed, no answer for request of more towels and blankets and $24 for only 10-menu breakfast buffet + tips. Totally damned for what you have to pay.

One of the friendliest hotels that I've stayed at. From the front desk Ambassador (that's you Nick) to the maintenance personnel that we would encounter in the halls, everyone was so nice and always greeted us with a friendly hello or good morning. We were upgraded to a suite and when we decided to stay an additional night, they made it happen and were able to keep the same room. The hotel is situated conveniently close to the airport and the van runs to the airport on a timely basis. I highly recommend this Marriott location and will always stay there when in town. How refreshing to have such a customer care attitude from each and every employee. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Nice hotel, but incredibly slow behind the counter. We stayed here 2 nights in a row, and both times we had no line and had to wait 15 minutes to get helped.

Great hotel! Quiet, clean, and great staff. A little out of the way of everything but I loved it.

I just met with one of their special event coordinators and she showed us a room that we could host my company holiday party in. The room was great and opened out onto a gorgeous courtyard. They had amazing offers for food, beverages, and entertainment that were all included in one price and were well within our company budget for the party. She also showed us a beautiful lofted hotel room that was complimentary the night of our event. Its a very nice hotel with tons of options for events.
