I booked the El Mirador Penthouse suite for my husband and I since we didn’t have a big wedding or get to have a honeymoon everything was rushed, I figured a weekend getaway would be perfect for just the two of us. I seen a special in my email through TripAdvisor for The Masterpiece Hotel and called to book a room. I ended up getting a good deal for us in the El Mirador Suite and the front desk helped with everything from champagne and red roses in our room when we arrived to a champagne brunch cruise around the bay with site seeing. The view was perfect from our suite nice and quiet with a friendly staff. The day of our arrival we went around to local shops and had dinner at Dutchman’s Seafood House and relaxed the rest of the evening in our suite. I took advantage of the rooms big jacuzzi tub while my husband took advantage of his alone time in bed with his phone texting his homewrecking girlfriend (without my knowledge). The next morning we had breakfast at a small family diner friendly service and then to the farmers market where we purchased some fresh fruit from local vendors. I loved the room the staff the food everything was perfect for me so I thought my husband started a big fight so we can leave early and get home I made it home he left to see his homewrecking girlfriend who he text all weekend we were there.

Good location walking distance from main area off beach. Rooms are clean and big. Great service and breakfast.

Check in was super easy. Helpful staff. Still have 3 days left in my stay.

It's a very magical place. Our room was awesome! The views, the fireplace, the jacuzzi tub were a bonus.

Stayed at this hotel in the el mirador ppenthous suite. Let's just say this is the best of the best for a getaway. Jacuzzi included, balcony view is beautiful and the room itself is so cozy. For the price its was worth every bit of it. Staff was great! I will definitely stay here again.

Nice, quiet place to stay. When I visited, most of the guests were an elderly crowd, not that I minded. The place itself is very tranquil and pleasant, rooms are designed vintage but are comfortable, and I had no complaints whatsoever. (We stayed mid-July). I arrived a little sick but it calmed down after stopping here for one night. Definitely a place for some downtime if you're having a hectic trip after driving to Morrow Bay.

This was a great place to stay. The staff was fantastic especially Victoria. Breakfast was good and the wine and cheese in the evening was very nice. I will definitely stay there again.

Love this hotel, it is very unique! The amenities are outstanding: free wine tasting, complimentary breakfast, little library, nice art gallery and The SPA! The spa is a hidden gem in Morro Bay, think Roman bath! Also convenient to local beach, Morro Bay Rock and local restaurants.

Beautiful Roman spa downstairs! Complimentary wine 5-6pm and breakfast 7-10am. Walking distance to any restaurant and the beach.

Enjoyed my stay, love the many amenedies: Breakfast, wine tasting, guest library, and spa! I loved walking around on the art tour and being close to the Morro Rock. Only recommendation is to get some more boardgames that appeal to adults. This place really is a masterpiece.

A lovely night in SLO was had here. Pack and Play provided at no extra charge and the breakfast with make your own waffles was a treat.

Very nice hotel with friendly service (Victoria was always there and humored my families stories! ). Complimentary wine and cheese for an hour in the evening, continental breakfast, nice hot tub and even a small workout room. The art prints are nice to look at and add a nice touch to the rooms. The beds however are very firm, which for this traveler caused some back pain that the hot tub couldn't quite ease. Would recommend to others, especially those who like firm beds!

This hotel and staff were great. Our room was amazing! It overlooked the bay, was very spacious. The hotel is walking distance (2-5 blocks) from the beach front, embarcadero and state park. I would definitely stay here again.

Free cheese and wine in the evening. Good continental breakfast. Room is over 200 sq ft. Clean and quiet environments. Will come back again.

Hotel was nice. They are within walking distance of nice restaurants. They also and had nice evening wine and cheese and breakfast. We would consider staying again of in the area. The only reason I subtracted a star was the sliding door to the 2nd story balcony would not lock closed and the carpet was a bit stained.

Stayed here for my 31st birthday, just me and my woman. We had a fantastic time! To be fair, this isn't the Ritz. However, we found it to suit our needs fine. The view of the rock was cool, slightly obscured but not enough to ruin a beautiful sunset and sunrise. The private patio was dope af, however the chairs were rickety and I didn't have much confidence in them. The Jacuzzi tub was amazing, and I succeeded in spraying water all over the room because I was drunk and impatient. We had fun. The thing with that is it has a slow leak, but that's kind of ok because it allows you to constantly top off with hot water. We missed the free wine, but it sounded cool. The breakfast wasn't bad, we didn't eat much because we had reservations with the apple farm. All inn all (get it? ) we had a pleasant stay. The guest book was weird, and it was kind of stupid they didn't leave us a pen to sign it with. I think we'd stay here again, though, when it's all said and done. Oh, also, I should mention we stayed in room 300 which is like, the penthouse suite or something. It was wicked awesome.

Now this is a nice motel. Small which I like actually but OMG you have to check out the sweet that they offer. Ocean views, your own bar and enough room to move around in you could go for a jog, have all your friends over, or just enjoy peace and quiet all night all by yourself. Oh did I mention that there is your own personal hot tub in your room! Killer huh! Need I say more.

We stayed for 2 nights. Very clean and spacious room, some items perhaps a bit dated (mini fridge). Friendly staff and service, and was very quiet during our stay (and hotel was sold out). Continental breakfast was decent, not extraordinary. Not really walking distance to Embarcadero but Morro is not very large so driving is ok. We were quite pleased with our stay.

Very friendly staff, we got free glass of wine when we arrived. Can't complain about that. Very much recommended staying here.

Our third stay here. We love this place & would def recommend. The rooms are well appointed and immaculate. And they smell good! Plenty of towels and toiletries. Beds are comfy and fresh. The lobby, dining area and doors are a little worn and dated but very clean and not even a consideration. The staff is friendly, professional and accommodating. They serve comp wine & cheese in the evening and brekky in the morning. We stayed at the Hampton SLO the previous night and I wish I had booked both nights here. Plan on coming back every time we're in the area. One caution: no elevator! Consider that if ur incapacitated in any way.

He short is if you have children or value your health don't stay here. I couldn't make this up- Been coming here for over a decade. For that matter El Morro Masterpiece has the been only place our little family stayed when in Morro Bay. Had our last stay last night. A "non-smoking" establishment that looks the other way when guests smoke on the balcony is just wrong. An establishment that looks the other way when guests use controlled drugs on the balcony is just irresponsible perhaps even criminal. We had to switch rooms late last night (after 1030pm) because the guests next to us were smoking weed on their balcony. We had our sliding door open to let the cool breeze but all we got was a room full pot smoke. So we moved to the new room only to find that pot smokers were next to us. Turns out the room they were smoking pot in wasnt theirs they we just hanging out with some friends room in that 1st room because the balcony was by the street and a little out of view. The police should have been called. They should have been asked to leave. At least I would think, but no the night clerk 'Jeremiah' shook their hands, made some kind of deal with them and they stayed — marijuanna and all.
I asked Jeremiah to make a note that the smell was not mine, he said he did, but morning clerk said he didn't mention it in his email account. Jeremiah lied about properly documenting the accounts, failed hotel in his duties and failed *all* the guests that stayed their that night.

Absolutely love this hotel! It has a B&B feel. They serve breakfast and offer a Happy Hour with wine and snacks from 5 to 7. The hot tub is huge and it's in a really cute room.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The gentleman at the desk was very nice and took care of us. For those that need it, there are no elevators but the staff will assist bringing your luggage up. I had the family so we were good. Too bad we got in late, we missed the complimentary wine and cheese from 5-7 pm but we were able to take advantage of the free breakfast. The hotel was a bit older but everything there is. The rooms were very spacious, the fireplace was great for the chilly night. After looking driving around the next day going towards Hearst Castle and seeing what was available in neighboring towns we felt we were in the best spot. I highly recommend this hotel, we do plan on staying here when we drive down the PCH again.

The hotel was easy to get to and very close to the downtown area with lots of great food and cute shops. The otters were the best! At first we thought they weren't real until the started doing flips in the water. The room at Masterpiece was a typical two queen room with a full bathroom. The flat screen TV was huge, the bed was a little too soft. The room and bathroom were very clean, but a little old looking. The breakfast was outstanding with lots of variety.

I was impressed the king room with spa tub and fireplace. Wine and cheese in the evening, breakfast in the morning. Bad thing is the fireplace has a 15 minute timer and the Wi-Fi is slow but I can live with slow Wi-Fi with everything there is to do here. It has a fitness room and nice spa as well.

We stayed there last night for my birthday. We got a nice room with king size bed with jacuzzi tub in our room. It also had a frig, microwave, and they had a nice breakfast. Considering it was at the beach, and on the wkn we got a great deal♡. Most places with rooms like that are $300 plus. We got it for half that. I took pics of room, but can't attach it to this post. I will post them on there FB page though. We were very satisfied thank you Masterpiece♡♡.

Do not book through Expedia or other online sites that have non-refundable reservations. The pictures and reviews didn't come close to describing the exceptionally dated room they sold us in the back of the dining room. Yes, let me repeat, they have two rooms in the back of the dining room with a ground level view of the parking lot that they are more than happy to book under Expedia's no refund policy.

Don't waste your money! The hotel is dated, there have no box springs on the bed which is uncomfortable, and the hotel is overpriced for the stay. We booked through Expedia, which we won't do again because the hotel WILL NOT refund any of your money. They will cancel the reservation which allows them to make a double booking off your room. And to top it off our room was literally in back of the dining room. Terrible hotel!

Our room had plenty of room but did not like that there was no AC (opened patio door overnight but warm during the day/evening. Satellite TV was a plus and fridge and microwave. Couch has fold out bed but it super uncomfortable which was ok because our 3 year old slept on it and didn't mind. Good location, walking distance to Morro Bay shops and restaurants. Good breakfast, pastries and make-your-own waffles. Plentiful, free parking.

The Masterpiece Hotel: No work of art. I did not enjoy the picture of Frida Kahlo next to my bed. I felt as though she was staring me down whilst I slept — staring me down with her cold, dead eyes and that goddamned caterpillar on her forehead. Were it not for that nightmare of a portrait I would have slept soundly but alas no.

Amazing stay as always. This is pretty much the only place I'll stay when visiting the coast. The staff is amazing, very friendly and accomodating. The rooms are clean. The rates are very fair. And you can't go wrong with free wine and cheese in the lobby.

Just 2 blocks from the ocean, the hallways are lined with art, there is a complimentary cheese/wine tasting every night. The roman spa is huge (could probably fit 15-20 people). The fitness center had all the basics and my favorite type of elliptical (you can increase the incline) and I like that you can watch the cable channels while working out. Some hotel fitness centers disable to good channels for some reason. They have a ton of movie channels which is all I really watch. There's a complimentary continental breakfast and waffle machines. The staff are super friendly. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely stay here again!

I loved this place. Quiet & neat little old building. Almost felt European. The hallways to the rooms were all indoors out of the rain, which was great since it was pouring when we arrived. The hallways are lined with paintings, which they have information about in the welcome binder in the hotel room. I loved the fireplace & balcony. Checkout wasn't until noon (awesome) & breakfast was enjoyable. Will have to stay here again sometime :)

Very luxurious for the price inside and out. I made my own waffles for breakfast! There were also pastries, coffee, and juice options. Wine, hors d'oeuvres and desserts between 5 and 7. I feel like I got the best room in the entire hotel. Morro Bay Rock was just outside by window and I could even see a nice bit of the beach. I loved the art in my room Picasso's The Gormet and Christina's World uwere my absolute favorites. If you're used to 500-1, 000 thread count, bring your own.

For the price the room was quite nice, clean and spacious. Very quiet, free parking and breakfast included. Also the wine and cheese from 5 to 7p. M. Nightly is a nice touch. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our room very much — it was the penthouse suite. Nice views and very well decorated, spacious with a large Jacuzzi tub. The wine and cheese "reception" was a nice treat as was the breakfast. My only issue is there is no elevator. They offered to help us with our luggage, which we declined. A lot of stairs … Overall, nice place to stay although I would have liked to be closer to the waterfront. Its not a long walk, but coming back to the room was an uphill climb then we had to hit the stairs again!

Friendly and efficient front office. Easy, efficient check in even though online booking was made only minutes prior to arrival. Lavish wine & cheese laid out in foyer. FREE! And FREE breakfast. But NOT done here. Was afraid to go upstairs to check out the room assigned (the check in clerk was very accommodating) ; I mean, there's got to be a glitch somewhere, right? NO. Lovely, gracious area in front of rooms, furnished to feel like one was a guest in someone's lovely home. Even a bookcase with books to be borrowed. The room itself is VERY comfortable, well laid out with separated bathroom. Amenities include microwave & in room coffee maker. And the best part — the price! What a treasure.

I was very pleased with my stay, Masterpiece had some of the most helpful, friendly, and amazing staff! I had a lovely room with a great view thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff! The experience was exactly what I needed, I am currently a nursing student who needed a little peace and calm from everything and everyone and Masterpiece Hotel help me a million! Thank you again EVERYONE AT MASTERPIECE HOTEL!

Great Hotel, however room 105 was very hot.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is in a perfect location near the Rock. Complementary breakfast is reaey good. Complementary wine and cheese is amazing. Room is well cleaned daily. Rooms are well furnished and clean. Staff are friendly. Cost is very reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. A great small hotel with a friendly lady at the front desk. Dulce was incredible to talk to and made the experience that much better.

This was our second visit. Wonderful service. The wine hour was great. Met some really nice people. Staff was very friendly and gave great tips for dinner and areas to kayak.

The Masterpiece Hotel exceeded my expectations! Very friendly and helpful staff. Checking in and out was easy. The entire hotel is very clean. When I opened the door to my room it smelled clean and fresh. The room was larger than most hotel rooms. I was completely surprised by a bottle of Sparkling Cider on ice in my room. Compliments of the hotel. This has never happened to me before. The evening reception of wine and cheese was a great way to meet and visit other guests. The breakfast has a large variety of items to choose from and was quickly restocked when items were running low. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. I was in room 104 and it was conveniently located to all of the hotel's amenities. There was a "blue" recycling container in the room. The Masterpiece Hotel is conscience of our environment. When I checked out, Jo let me know that they have four other properties and give repeat guests a discount. The Masterpiece Hotel is "top notch" in my book! I would definitely stay here again.

The service was outstanding and we must give Dave a shout-out! He made the trip for us so thank you Dave A bit loud due to traffic but all in all it was wonderful. The hot tub was our favority.

All these complaining ass people it's a small hotel with a bad ass Jacuzzi hot tub if you haven't been in it your missing out.

It's not a good place to relax due the noisy traffic plus the service management is incompetent and rude the wireless was not working. On almost seven hundred dollar bill for two nights the manager, as she said she wanted take care of the problem she offered me a discount of $ 10.00 (pretty pity and offensive) I offered to pay ten dollars more as a tip for her and I asked a note of it in the receipt, she didn't accepted. Why she didn't wanted my tip? She offered this ten box with a funny smile in her face and I wanted just give back to her as the deserved tip for being so poorly professional but mostly because I wanted take away from her the fun to tease a guest, she was a very unfriendly and not polite host. Lot of money and I had a bad vacation thanks to the masterpiece, Morro Bay is beautiful and is full of better place than this one, so my advise, go somewhere else.

Well. We decided to stay here after being referred from one of their sister — Best Western properties. We were a little skeptical initially but after calling all around this was the only room available. We have been pleasantly happy. Our level of acceptance is usually pretty high! They had complimentary wine/cheese service and a free continental breakfast as well. The rooms are small but with pull out couch and bed had plenty of sleeping for my family. I read some old bad reviews but don't understand their problem. For us it was great! we will stay here again for sure. P. S. Huge awesome spa. Can hold like 20 people! It was fun, Thanks! Jason.

After driving 9 hrs from Las Vegas to Morro Bay through bad weather, we finally got to the room about 3am. We were able to get into our room and the carpets were disgusting. Room looked as if it hadnt been cleaned in ages! Sheets, Pillows, Blankets needed to be washed and disinfected. Looks can be decieving, from the outside looks like a nice luxury hotel with a name like the masterpiece inn you would expect rooms like a picasso. Instead you get 'will work for food" art. 110 dollars is not worth it! Only positive point was the staff was polite. AVOID! Save your money better places in town. Ended up staying second night at Morro Inn and Shores, closer to beach better deal and CLEAN NEW rooms.

Carpet in our downstairs room felt scummy. You would not want to walk barefoot. We also found a dead mouse in the bathtub a few minutes after unpacking our bags to begin our 3-night stay. We should have immediately left, but were too tired and ready for bed. After the evening desk person removed the mouse cleaned the tub, and left, we pulled back the blankets, and discovered little black flecks on the pink sheets. The desk person was off duty, but my husband found someone in charge who gave us the key for a room on the 2nd floor. It would have been nice if that person had helped us move our belongings to the new room, but no offer. At least the upstairs room looked and felt clean and rodent-free. The next day the desk person said they would bring us a free bottle of sparkling cider. Imagine our joy. We did not receive the cider.
