Our room was in the new Westin Tower level 20 with a view of Union Square over the old Westin building. We could also see a portion of the San Francisco Bay. I recommend this hotel for many reasons. First of all, which is a bit obvious, but worth mentioning is location, location, location. Nearly everything we wanted to do was near the Westin Hotel. SF Trolley, cafés, coffee, sushi, Chinatown, shopping, etc… but this is a review of the hotel. Second, Westin fits the budget. Two nights in the center of SF, with a great view for about $400. We didn’t have to pay a lot to get a lot. They provide a nice crib for an infant, a big bed with soft, comfy pillows (if you like firm pillows, well, maybe they will provide them if you ask), clean bathroom, towels, and overall, I felt relaxed in the room. It’s not over the top fancy, but it’s very nice. Third, helpful staff and fine service. When we needed something we just called and they made it happen, which again made it a relaxing time for me as I had nothing to worry about. On the negative side: a bottle of wine was nearly double the price for what we could get in a store, but that’s convenience for you. Also, no shuttle to the airport; and the taxi was about $55.00 one way. I still give it 5 stars because we didn’t have to buy the wine here, and there are less expensive ways to the airport if you don’t have a lot of luggage. Finally, rooms are mostly soundproof, but you will occasionally hear sounds from the bathroom. Nothing to be surprised about. Anyway, we had a nice time here and will most certainly consider staying here again when we visit next time.
