My family and I made a 5 day trip to California with everything booked months in advance. I do my research before I reserve anything and This hotel had good reviews and the pictures really sold me. After a long drive we finally arrive around midnight ready to sleep. When I checked in, 2 girls had been assisting me both were nice and helpful. Staff was good but that’s about it. I got my keys and headed to the room. The room they gave us was occupied when I opened the door. Back to the front desk, they gave me another room and once again the room was occupied as well. Again, I had booked months in advance. The 3rd room they gave us was decent BUT had no electricity, there was a homeless man passed out in the room next to us with the door opened. Again I go to front desk this time just asking for a refund instead. The location was not very nice at all. Hotel itself needs a remodel. Very dirty and uncomfortable. I do not recommend this hotel especially for families with children.

This is an ok place for the price. The room was a bit dirty. One of the bedsheets had paint on it. The remote for the TV was missing, had to get one at the front desk. Also, several light bulbs were missing. I feel that all those little annoying things could have easily been taken care of prior to renting out the room. Had it been cleaned by anyone with common sense and a pair of eyeballs then none of those things would have been a issue. Other than that it was comparable to almost every other cheap motel.

Prices are cheap, front desk was helpful, wasn't able to get a weekly price so paid every day. My room was clean, Wi-Fi works so ask for password but they would normally give you a paper with that information when you sign in as well for the TV that has Cox. Like in any hotel it's not always silent this is not your home so you can't expect everyone to be quiet. An they have A/C. Rooms go fast on the weekends. Check in 3pm check out at 11am.

Had body hair in tub (pubic) & used up soap. The entire floor was dirty upon arrival as well. Roaches crawling on the walls no lie. Drug addicts right in front bumming for money. Had to check on my car quite often I was afraid it would be broken into. Many strange people who stayed there as well. Most speaking of characters was an elderly heavy set man in the pool playing with a teenage girl my husband said it was inappropriate to do in public so the child and elderly man went in their room… guess what?! This creep was next for to us! Later an older women came it was her mother I'm guessing by the way they were getting along so well even more disturbed after seeing how she approved of this child like molestation and so on of their interaction. I'm all over disgusted by the room, safety of one's life and/or personal items, and the uncleanliness of our room and environment. Staff of course was nice, but maybe inn need of renovation and brining up standards. Be warned — also traffic sucks as well go three miles up and I think the area by far is more acceptable!

Very clean! Cheaper than the Motel 6 next door. Showers are very nice and the water pressure actual leaves you feeling clean! The king size beds are new and soft, my husband and I had a great night sleep! If you are in the area I would recommend the Knight's Inn! We will be back!

It Is A nice place, the rooms are not so bad compared to other hotels.

Worst room I've ever been in you couldn't pay me to stay here again had bugs found a few in the bed that my daughter was sleeping in, floors were nasty, we booked a room that was supposed to have a fridge for meds they told us when we got here we don't have any fridges just deal with it, they said only service dogs were allowed but we had several around us and not a one was a service animal they were trying to come out of the rooms at people walking buy, they had small towels that most places use for the pool, woke up to eater poring out of the wall and the light in the bathroom flooding the floors never would I recommend this place to anyone I wouldn't stay here for a million dollars.

They have bugs in the room. The first one I saw seemingly came out of nowhere and attempted to go onto our three year old. The floors are incredibly filthy. They turned our feet black, even after we used a wet towel to try and clean the floor. No fridge or microwave. The room is extremely dark and the lighting is poor. The hotel is supposed to be pet free, except for service animals. However, someone in a room next door had a dog that was clearly not a service animal. The animal barked off and on last night and today. When the owner took it outside, it growled at and attempted to chase other customers. This morning I woke up to water coming through the bathroom coming out of the bathroom ceiling, and down the wall by the second bed. The light in the bathroom was flooded with water, as was the floor. Every couple of seconds water continued to drip from the ceiling. Nothing was good, or even just decent. If you absolutely can't afford to stay anywhere else then this is not the worst option. The pool is chlorinated for sure cause you can smell it as you walk to the room. The person at the desk was very nice and professional. The mattress had stains on it. The bathroom had other people's hairs left behind. Like a middle of the road gas station bathroom. One you can use because you need to go but again if a better option was available you would take it. I do wish that I had spent fifty to sixty extra dollars to have a firmer cleaner mattress to sleep on without stains and a bathroom with out others hair in it and floors that did not have sticky stuff on it and an a. C. That was not noticibly filled with dust and with broken vents (we did not use it as we did not want to breath in the dirt). Tv worked, lock on the door and window work. My back hurts but I did get to sleep. You can't hear the freeway from room 108 unless a chopper drives by.

Basic Hotel, freshly remodeled, clean, free coffee at reception, quiet area, in front of the hotel there is a shop and petrol station, it is very close to the border with Mexico, very comfortable beds, is good to rest.

The grounds were clean. The rooms was clean. The beds we're really comfortable. The lady that checked us in at the front desk was so polite and patient as she explained where my room was, where to park, ice machine and laundry. I was already stressed out and she was so nice… can't thank her enough. The security for the evening shift was visible while making his rounds and I felt safe going to my car for items I forgot to bring up. Management has done a great job at making this place a pleasant relaxing place to stay.

Used an online site to book but didn't have our reservation when we arrived. Luckily they had rooms available. Really soft mattress, that's about it. There was a big indent on the bathroom door which was odd. I'm not sure when they upgraded their rooms but you can see the attempt to be 3 star. Honestly it was a really nice bed and that's almost the only reason I'm giving it 3.

I stayed here for 3 days with my girlfriend and it was a pleasant experience. This is the first time I ever rented out my own hotel because I am fairly young but I can say from the hotels I've stayed in throughout San Diego with family, this one was the best in my experience. Nice for the price. Check in was a quick an easy process. I booked a single queen size non smoking room. When we first walked in we were impressed. Nice size TV with cox digital cable, soft bed, clean room, nice shower, clean towels, nice vanity area, ac/heater. We felt it was just what my girlfriend and I needed. Neighbors can be a little loud but mainly because the walls are pretty thin. It was quite for the most part. A big con was that the Wi-Fi was horrible. Our devices couldn't even connect because the service was so poor. I can say that the Wi-Fi was the only con. Everything else was fine. I recommend it for a couple or a family of 3. All in all we will be staying there again.

I stayed there for one day then checked out the next day. The floor was dirty and there was pee in the toilet when we first got in to the room. The towels were dirty and it was gross. But for the price, you can't beat it. I just wished they would use an actual mop to clean the floors. They never give us enough towels. If you are paying with cash they want a deposit, if it's a debit card then no deposit is needed. It's better than a motel 6 in chula vista! Next to Denny's and a gas station. Near the border.

They wouldn’t even let me check in. I booked the room with the purpose of sleeping between shifts at work as I live over an hour away from work and had only 8 hours between shifts. I phoned ahead and spoke to the front desk and told them I wouldn’t be checking in until the following morning at 6am and when I got there the guy at the front desk told me they had no rooms available. I ended up having to sleep in my car because they didn’t have my room. The guy at the front desk was of no help and was not informed that I phoned ahead the day before. He said that he could not even find my reservation in the system. I understand that my situation was not a typical one but that is why I called ahead of time and confirmed that my plan was okay. I will not be attempting to stay here again.

Definitely aimed at the economy market. The beds were very very very soft, not my cup of tea. Rooms were clean had everything on hand although I wish the little miniature packs of soap were somewhat larger. The staff always seems a bit pushed and harried, they certainly do their best. When we couldn't get the TV working they were very prompt about coming and helping us out.

The service is very good. The room was very clean and tidy. The bed in the room was very alcochonada.

There's no bed bugs its clean and well managed every time I m in town this is the place I can enjoy a king size bed with lots of pillows and privacy better the the travel lodge or motel 6

It was good, it would be good to have help for the people who are passing by, to help with the luggage, and place it on a first level, as with luggage I'm quite involved, since I was placed on a second level. But if it was good the stay comfortable bed.

Basic room, has been updated at least. Vinyl floors. Shower no tub. No exhaust fan or window in bathroom tho. Dim lights. Nice size flat screen TV quite a few channels. I liked the window coverings, shutter style instead of fabric curtains. No microwave (not even one in the vending room) or fridge. Flat pillows. Very basic room n minimal services. Cheap.

Ramshackled rooms. Permanent residents. Suspect housekeeping. Rodent and insect infestation. Sounds of random acts of violence and/or drug transactions. Homeless individuals receive vouchers to stay here. On the upside I would recommend staying here over the frontier inn across the street. But hey… at least it's cheap.

Great Service, very clean, beds were comfortable and bedding was actually clean. Walking distance to the outlets. Very nice stay.

Saw three front desk employees and they were all serious and not sure if they wanted to be there. I understand some people’s personality are like that but this is a business. They need to make guest feel welcomed.

Staff was great. Rooms could you need some attention ours had bad air conditioning. But we only stayed one night and it was right on the border.

Poor service. Quick to collect your money but the customer service stops there. Housekeeping is horrible and lies, never has towels to renew be4 3pm. Rooms don't have a microwave or fridge, and they lock the lobby and ice machine room early so your out of luck. Security sits in his truck all night instead of patrolling the parking lot, my car was broke into twice while staying here. I give it barely 1 star, much better accommodations at motel 6 or other budget hotels around the same price. Very poor hospitality here lately.

The first time I stayed Avia cockroaches in the room and the Avia air a lot of noise, arrive at 2 in the morning and charged me full without giving me receipt when they arrived to make the toilet no me avia changed sheets… I wanted to stay another time and I wanted to charge the 3 noch Is and better look elsewhere.

So, I've been a resident of this hotel for a year now (they've saved my butt a couple times from being homeless and trust me no one ever wants to be in that position) but, the knights inn was and still is there for me and I could tell you tons of stuff. Some of these reviews are skewed. They just went through a major remodel. Updated the bathrooms, flat screens in every room, better mattress's. Idk why they said the from staff is rude, they've never been rude to me and I literally know all of them including the owner. The owner tries his hardest to accommodate people. I'm always seeing travelers and families check in. Yes, some of the rooms have bugs and they are fummigating everday to get rid of the problem, it is an old building. Yes the police come through here alot, I'm personally okay with that. It lets me even though we're on the border, they are patrolling and making sure people are safe. If I've said it once, I'll say it a hundred times… you get what your pay for! If you want contential breakfast and people waiting on you hand and foot, then I suggest the four seasons or the days inn. If you want an affordable room, with basic amenities and a comfy bed to sleep on, then this is your spot.

I was in this Hotel this weekend and HORRIBLEEEEE I couldn't sleep, since we opened the room 219 there were 6 cockroaches on the bed and the walls full of cockroaches too. The problem is that we got very tired and it was easier to get cleaned up all than go to claim for $67 dollars that we were charged and look for another Hotel. Fortunately we wore our blankets because we already know that this happens in thousands of hotels in the U. S. For example DAYS INN in Pensacola Florida, rather was plague-COLA, disgusting and stinky Hotel.

To begin: my 6 month pregnant wife and I tried to get in our room at 2:15pm. The lady checking us in, had broken English and didn't even check our names to see if room was ready before telling us no. She told my wife to use the restroom at a gas station. I called before booking the room to get details, blackout shades are wood shutters which still let light in, the lighting in the room was horrible (wife couldn't do makeup in there, and I could barely shave correctly) She did her makeup sitting in the car. I was told there would be a refrigerator, there wasn't. When I booked the room, it showed 1 queen bed, we got a room with 2 queen beds. No closet amenities were provided, no hair dryer, nothing. Just a little bar of soap with tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner were provided. The blankets were a very thick material. Best way to describe it, felt like heavy curtain material. Very hot and uncomfortable, heavy, and wife couldn't sleep well that night. My wife woke up with noise disturbance from above us (room 235) and called the front desk at 2am. When she finished the call, she found a bed bug crawling on her pillow by her head. She has about 7 bites on her. The wooden chair in our room was very dusty, which shows how well the room was not cleaned. I do not recommend this place. There are other places for the same price around the area. I have been to other knights Inn before and they were worth the stay. This wasn't.

This well I stay 2 nights, would lack a little more cleaning, Porq the phone was muddy with something sweet and a little lint on the floor, but it is decent.

Terrible. We had to keep going to the office to help us with the internet and only one of the girls help us while the other one was rolling her eyes at us and children. And she was also on her phone while I was talking to her. And the internet was so terrible it couldn't reach our room and they did nothing about it. This was the worst hotel ever in San Diego we left the day after for a new hotel and it's much better. And the pool was supposed to be open five days ago when we went and it still wasn't open and there was a lot of other people going to the office from our room I could see a line coming out of the door. The manager needs to change all of this.

Conveniently located at border, 'clean' & modern room. Very affordable at $65. Updated and comfortable. Good value, with minor d-merits. Recommended.

It was a roof over my head for two nights with some working power plugs, a much too soft bed, a working bathroom, a TV, working Wi-Fi, and a really loud air conditioner. I didn't ask for much more than that. Apparently the place had been recently renovated. The hotel isn't the color that you see in the Google photos for instance. But there's still some damage here and there. Light fixtures just being a little loose, an entirely missing drawer in my room. I did see one small and totally ballsy little roach in the bathroom which just moved itself enough to get out of reach of a good stepping on. That's kinda when you can tell the local roaches are way too used to people. Local places it was impossible to find breakfast in walking distance and as a border town it can be pretty poor. Not many places to grab a bite, I couldn't stay to wait for the good one to open at 10 30 am. The room did not have a mini-fridge or a microwave. And being a border town, I mostly used my own water. So I had a couple nights in there, dead tired so mostly I just fell asleep. No noise from the outside and the room had good light blocking shades. I didn't interact much with the staff but they did change the towels and fixed the bed when I was away. Nothing stolen or missing of mine afterwards. I don't think there were bed bugs but I don't really know how to tell yet. So all in all. It was a room. There are much better rooms elsewhere. But this one might be all you need.

Surprisingly good value. Great staff, clean, well modernized rooms. Has an outdoor swimming pool. Only paid about $80 a night including tax.

I spent a night in this hotel with my wife and a friend. The room was clean, the decor was great, and the beds were good. Even my wife (who has a bad back) was able to get a good nights sleep here. We would definitely stay here again. As for the other reviews complaining about cockroaches, we didn't see any but the place was so clean it didn't seem like a place that would have a problem with them.

Roaches! Beds were fine housekeeping no problem it's not their fault they just take the heat. Front desk? Don't offer to switch you room when you tell them about roaches! They don't refund for your unpleasant stay. Don't stay here! Roaches all over the wall, mold, drawers missing. Horrible.

I feel scared and feel that this hotel should be banned. There is blood everywhere but I mean if your going to commit a crime at least do it right! Like the people are corrupt, they smoke with them too! Like WTF! People drink outside and I'm pretty sure that is illegal.

$65 for a single bed. Clean, recently updated rooms. Walls are thin, but since all the nearby places want $99+ for the exact same experience, this is a win!

The staff was very helpful and the room was clean and nice… For the most part it was a pleasurable experience.

I was here for two nights. It was very cheap, and I liked that. The quarters were clean with a few exceptions. You get really the same for what you pay. It is good for a few nights for very cheap.

Nice I have a friend who stays here quite frequently and ever time I visit him the staff are very friendly and personable. The rooms are clean and everybody kinds their own business. They do ALOT of 4th waiver searches so cops are there frequently. I let you decide whether that be a + or —. It's right by the correct so it is a little ghetto. I personally feel comfortable around that element. The police presence can get annoying but, as long as you're not committing crimes or waived your 4th amendment right there's nothing to sweat really.

I hated everything about this hotel the room stunk the bed sheets were stained with black stuff and blood stains, the "clean" towels were stained as well, there was roaches everywhere in the room, really rude employees bad service the sink was covered in burn marks and the blanket as well the tub had black foot marks of the previous people from there disgusting!

HORRIBLE HOTEL EVER! As soon as I walked in I was disgusted! The room smelled and the sheets had blood on them! I found dirty clothes under the bed, needles behind the TV, and gum on the floor! As I headed to the room there was people in front of the room smoking weed being noisy. I got there at 4AM with my child just wanting to sleep so my child slept on the pack and play and I took off the bloody sheets and went to sleep. The next morning I spoke to the "manager" and she laughed in my face and told me she couldn't do anything because I didn't report the problem as soon as I seen it. C'mon it was 4 in the morning! She kept laughing at me and ignored me until finally she said I needed to leave. She said she was going to give me back 1 nights worth since I paid for 2 nights and only stayed one night. I called the bank and they told me the money was deducted not reimbursed. I went back to confront her about it and she kept ignoring me while on her computer. After 30 minutes of waiting for her to fix her mistake she finally reimbursed it! They are thieves and don't care about their customers! If I would've read the reviews before hand I would've never stayed there especially with the ongoing period stains on the sheets! The most disgusting hotel ever and horrible "manager! " She needs to learn how to be polite.

My family and I have been in San Ysidro now for a few months, homeless. When we first arrived, we stayed at the Knight's Inn San Ysidro. It was the cheapest that would allow my family size of 5 in San Diego County. The first room was upstairs, slightly scary with 2 young kids, 3 and 2, the railing just looks questionable and dated. The second room, they moved us, because we were above the owners', the phone didn't want to work, but that was bearable as to I had a cellphone that we could use. The room's are always clean. The housekeeping and maintenance staff are very polite, courteous, and efficient, though there is a slight language barrier as most of them primarily speak Spanish. The front desk and office staff are just as friendly, and professional. Everyone is very accommodating and hospitable. After the first week, they really worked with us allowing for us to stay 2 more weeks. Needless to say we've had to stay elsewhere in San Ysidro and San Diego County. None treated us with the respect that the Knight's Inn San Ysidro first gave us and without as many amenities. We're still in the same situation, and again find ourselves at the Knight's Inn San Ysidro. Again we were welcomed with warm friendly faces, and again they are working with us to keep a roof over my 3 kids' heads. It feels good to be somewhere we've been before and trust that we are safe. I will gladly come back to the Knight's Inn San Ysidro with my family, whenever the opportunity arises.

WELL, the roach in my food bag is a start. The sheets were disgusting and looked like it had mouse poop on it. Blood and other things on the bed sheets which I had to change myself. TV's sounds was distorted. Mold in the bathroom. Stains on the actual bed itself. Outlets didn't work. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed out. The room had a musty smell. The only plus about this place was the soft toilet paper. We stayed here for our 1 year anniversary and they ruined it! I have a TON of pictures of the room. I couldn't even walk on the floor with my bare feet and had to put toilet paper down on the toilet because it was too disgusting to sit down on.

Had to switch room, first room was dirty and smelled, cops were in the premises picking up a dead body found in one of the rooms upstairs, when asked for a refund, were told we needed to contact the online company we booked the room from, not worth saving a couple of dollars. Never coming back! Not even if they payed me.

Just got here already grossed out. I have a habit of checking the bed and found a white dried stain. Don't know what it is but still gross. The rest is okay. Cheapest price in San Diego though.

My stay here at Knights Inn was alright, nothing special! Prior to my booking, I did not know that we were going to be that close to the border, ten minutes exact! Also California state prison. The location was sucky, right off of the freeway and not in a good part of town. My room was basic and simple. One queen bed, old school everything. Smelled weird, my boyfriend is positive the smell was mold. Outside of our room, there were raccoons in the palm trees (four) My stay here was basic, you get what you pay for.
