Place of great people and accommodation!

Very bad experience; I just can recommend to stay away from all the „Vantaggio Suites“. I stayed for two months and must change the room for 3 times! Staff at the reception is very very unfriendly and unprofessional. They do not care about them guests. Rooms should get cleaned every two weeks but they will not if you don‘t ask for that service. No option to clean it by yourself because there are no facilities they give. Just one set of towels for two weeks. I asked for another set and they told me, that I need to wash them by myself what brings me to the next point: The washing-machines are terrible. Most of the time dirty and the clothes are full of water when the program is finished. Last but not least they won‘t letting me checking out earlier because nobody was there to ‚control‘ my room if I didn‘t steel something!

Well managed but cheap rooms, nasty fridges and has a smell and no ac. Each room is pretty different layouts so you might not get a room even tho the show you the same model.

Stay away from here. There are two good things here: the location and the employers. The structure is terrible and if you need internet to work, you must have a mobile plan because it's almost impossible use the Vantaggio's internet.

On the last day of our stay the Big guy with Grey hair (about 30 years old though) told us that we “won’t be missed”. This is one of many insults that me and the other 53 students had to take from the management of the hotel. Some of the staff is great, But apparently, 1 guy can ruin it all. Thank you.

2018, no internet in certain rooms. Great job guys. I'm impressed.

Billiard table must be improved… Nothing else. They are mazing! Thanks for all guys! People inside make this place that amazing!

If I could rate it down lower than one star I would have done that! This place have roaches and bed bug and flea and all kind of small insects that is found in the rooms and on the hallway in some of the floors! And they don’t do anything about it. Don’t come to vantaggio, it’s have bad service and the employees have bad communication skills!

Very affordable option for downtown living. Lots of college students and very lively. Wouldn’t recommend if you have kids or can’t tolerate noise. Surrounding area is expensive as expected and Ralph’s is a pretty far walk. There is a kitchen and laundry but laundry is a bit annoying sometimes. Visitors must sign in. If you’re a single woman wouldn’t suggest walking around the area at night there are a lot of homeless in the area who are a bit crazy and will follow and harass women.

Location is only positive. Building & room stinks. Odor so bad it makes me gag. Then there are the roaches, holes in the wall, sink won't drain, unusable room phone & ceiling fan. Absolutely no heat on the building and it was in the 40s… absolutely frozen. Never again.

Hi guys A terrible night in Vantaggio, little Italy In a room from my friend broked a pipe in her bathroom. Unfortunately, the staff did not dissolve and could not really help us with our problem. Already it was 9pm and we wanted to go out together. They told us that they are fully booked and as an option she could move to gaslamp. It's not high season, how can it be? First, we have to speak with the school, if we want to change the room. Hello? It is saturday and nobody is in school! Why can not they react directly? We were very shocked. My friend had no choice she had to survived a night in this horror room. It was not possible to change the room and she had to sleep one night in this swimming pool. Personally, it was not very professional. It was not a fault from my friend. I hope they will give her the money back.

Room is okay, except for that only a kitchen sink in room and no basin in bathroom. Too noisy sometimes at night. As if people screaming and smashing doors multiple times. This seems mostly done by residents. That being said, this is not a hotel. More like a dorm/hostel. A lot of students live here with a shared kitchen n all. Although property is said to be smoke free except designated areas, seems people smoke in room. My room was smoke free but so much smoke somehow seems to be coming from the room beside. Location and views were good.

Nothing wrong with this place at all. No amenities to speak of though. The location can't be beat. If you can deal with largely self-service lodging that feels a little like a college dorm at times, it's totally worth it to get right in the middle of downtown for an unbelievably low price.

Miserable experience, management was exceptionally rude, constant noise and smoke from non tenants in the courtyard around the clock, the elevators rarely worked, very noticeable cockroach infestation, and likely power outages in the rooms since the building hasn't been renovated in the last 20 years. So if you can manage to overlook all this and more while still paying premium, its hands down the perfect place.

Here you can meet people from all over the world! The bed is better than my house's, and the room cleaning service every 2 weeks was enough help for me.
The staff are friendly, if you are friendly too (please, nobody is obligated to stand bad mood people). … I used the kitchen almost every day and the laundry very often too. I can't complain… I just had to complain about other people (who stayed here) that messed the kitchen. If you need a babysitter to clean your stuffs, this place is not for you, stay in a hotel instead. All the problems I had were solved very quickly when I nedded. And, if I go back to SD, I will stay at Vantaggio again.

Upon arrival, my room smelled like mold; the refrigerator was filled with mold. I requested a different room and was told that nothing was available. There was no effort made to inspect the room or even address the issue, despite speaking with multiple staff members on 2-3 different shifts. I explained that the room was essentially uninhabitable; the smell made it difficult to even be inside the room, let alone sleep. I was told that the manager and/or owner would address my concerns. The following morning, the owner declined to speak with me directly and used the front desk as a proxy to explain that I would not be receiving any type of compensation for the horrendous accommodations. Mold is a major issue, with clear public health risks and implications. I had difficulty breathing and experienced asthma attacks during and following my stay. The only time I interacted with Maintenance and Housekeeping staff was during the "check out inspection, " and she was visibly shaken upon entering the room due to the smell and the refrigerator. My expectation was that after confirming my complaint/concern, the front desk would make some effort to address the room was not inhabitable. I was wrong. I had to request a refund for 4 out of 5 days I had already paid for and work to find alternative accommodations in San Diego.

I just went in with some friends who were staying here. Pretty typical hostel like setup in their room. They had a nice lounge area. Security at the front wasn't very friendly or welcoming though.

Waiting to see if I get a room there. For what I saw of it with a short tour. Looks like a happening place.

It has minimal amenities but is in a good location.

I was here to check out information for possibly renting. At the rest waiting for help and not one of the two guys standing there even acknowledged me or tried to help. Won't be going back.

The service was ok but could be better. The people were very nice.

We stayed there for one month last summer. Don´t expect a fancy place, I think it is meant for students. It is not the cleanest and quietest place but it isn't expensive and has a good location. We were lucky with the room cause it was at the rear of the building, so it wasn't noisy. It has free Wi-Fi, community kitchen and Laundry facilities. Regardless, if I visit San Diego again for a long stay, I will stay at Vantaggio.

The kitchen is messy as hell and stinks. The majority of the staff at the reception are not willing to help with any concerns (you will have at vantaggio). And the rooms are tiny unlike the pictures.

Vantaggio Suites is a great place to stay if you need inexpensive housing, but would better be described as a hostel instead of a hotel. Its location in Little Italy is pretty hard to beat! Only bummer about the location is that it's right under the airport (great if you're flying in, but the noise pollution is unfortunate). The rooms are comical in the best sense. The downstairs is remodeled very nicely, but the rooms appear to not be completely updated. My friend got a room that matches the online photos. Mine is comfortable enough, but feels more like a dorm room. Upon arrival, we received very helpful information and a very warm welcome from the staff. While Vantaggio is definitely not luxurious in any sense of the word, it is a very convenient place to stay while enjoying San Diego's vibrant sights.
