This is for sure the best hostel I’ve stayed ever, good vibe, all the staff are amazing, super clean, a amazing patio to chill also a lot of activities to party.

Very modern and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. The communal areas are very comfortable and create a great atmosphere.

I wrote a short paper in class about OB Hostel so I thought I would also post part of it here! TLDR; this experience was amazing and I would suggest to anyone, even if you choose to book one of their private rooms, even if you have never stayed at a hostel before. "The current owners spare no expense to remodel the hostel to keep it modern and trendy and they are always adding new furniture and features. In addition to the remodeling, they repainted the hostel to reflect it’s psychedelic past. Like most hostels, they offer different rooms for reservation. They offer girls-only/boys-only/co-ed 4, 6, and 8 bed rooms along with rooms with queen size beds that are significantly more expensive. Each room is opened with a key card and absolutely no outside guests are allowed in the hostel. It has metal bunk beds, with sheets folded neatly at the bottom of the bed, and each bed has two outlets, an L. E. D reading light, and a locker. The room itself also offers a sink and a shelf and plenty of hanging hooks for towels. Outside of the rooms, there was a front porch with seating, and in the back, a completely stocked kitchen with two commercial refrigerators (one for alcohol, one for food) a small freezer for ice, and three large seating areas. Two of the three seating areas were non smoking and one was completely covered in canvas walls and roof (just in case it rains!

The room was nice, and so was the staff, but couldn’t sleep because of how loud the other guests were. If quiet hours are at a certain time I’d expect the staff to quiet the guests down. You could hear everything from people talking to doors shutting. Luckily the location made it better. Parking was a disaster so be prepared for that.

I didn't know what to expect when I booked my reservation at the Ocean Beach Hostel. I was a bit anxious because I never stayed in one, and I thought, being in my early 40s, that I would be the oldest person here. Ultimately, I had nothing to worry about. Guests are from all over the world and vary in age. The facilities are clean, well maintained, and Southern California chic. All the amenities of home are available to all guests for added comfort. Guests have access to a large and well supplied kitchen where meals can be cooked, laundry facilities after 3 pm, and plenty of comfortable lounging and eating areas. There is a grocery store located conveniently across the street. The hostel provides refrigerator space for your groceries. If you desire to eat out, there are a few inexpensive sushi bars and other restaurants located within walking distance. In addition, planned daily and nightly activities allow guests to take in the sights and experience the local area. Access to the beach and enchanting sunsets are less than two blocks away. Although things can get a bit rambunctious some nights, there is a mandatory quiet time between 11 pm and 8 am; it is enforced. This Hostel is very safe. All guests are required to show their room cards every time they enter the building. There is also a required security pass code that changes nightly in order to only allow access to those who belong in the building.

I stayed here for two nights, I love this hostel, people here are super nice, they provide a lot of things. It’s a good place for young people to stay, you can experience different culture here.

The staff are all very nice and helpful, the rooms are afforable, the building is kept very clean and I liked how safe it was. The location was great, right down the street from the beach and near awesome restaurants. Also the shuttle was a plus! It was so nice to be able to get a ride to local tourist destinations, especially if you need to keep traveling costs down.

Very accommodating. Staff is very friendly and it's an excellent location if you want to be next to the beach. They also provide rides to different parts of the city and breakfast.

Looking for somewhere fun and amazing? Try this real adventure world with beautiful, vast ocean front and charming, highly diverse staff and volunteers u may not have to walk very far to feel like paradise!

Stayed here in July of 2016. Best hostel I've ever been to in the world! Great hostel if you want to party (lot's drinking action in the courtyard area), very social vibe, great pub crawls and just a short 2 minute stroll from the beach (restaurants and bars outside your door).

This is my favourite hostel we stayed at on our California road trip. The staff are lovely and so laid back. The atmosphere is great. We met so many people staying here, some of which we still keep in contact with today. They have a nice beer garden too with a fridge for beer. Rooms are very clean. If you're considering staying here, do… You won't regret it!

I loved this hostel. I've been in quite a few and this one is a top contender for the best! It's very social with a lot of patio space but they have strict quiet hours as well! There's unlimited coffee and tea and a large free breakfast. Lots of beach and active rental options (cheap and / or free). There's always staff and volunteers on duty, cleaning and maintaining the place. Upon arrival, my friends and I had a small hiccup with the booking. Basically, they got our rooms and beds wrong but they were so helpful and accommodating and made sure to make our arrival and experience smooth and wonderful after that. Plenty of room in the kitchen and bathrooms. Clean. Good privacy. AMAZING location right next to the beach. Easy bike ride to Mission and Pacific beach. They even provide ear buds, some toiletries, and other goodies. The beds are great as they have a bit of privacy with a light and a plug/outlet, which most hostels don't have so I was super stoked about the entire experience there!

One might say I’m reliving my college days by staying at a hostel. Truth is, it’s a wonderful place to stay at an amazing rate per night! This is not the hostel of my youth — it’s very stylish, with art covering the walls, the linens are fresh and the rooms cleaned daily, breakfast is included, and the staff are eager to make sure you know about the events and excursions. I will definitely stay here again — and I am more likely to travel where there are other hostels like this rather than seek out a hotel.

Great location right by the beach. Lots of stuff going on nearby. Lots of hostel activities so you're never bored. Great social space. Easy to meet people. Rooms are clean and quiet. Breakfast is excellent. Staff all wonderful. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at!

Definitv the best place to stay in ocean beach. Price may be slightly higher than in other hostels, but the offer offered by hostel and employees is enormous.

I never want to leave a perpetual paradise of peace freedom and a loving environment. I can't even begin to make a feeble attempt to describe the euphoria this place gives me. The warmest staff, the hodgepodge of random cool friends I'll call travelers. The times are long from forgotten. Ocean Beach I'll cook for you guys anytime!

By far the best hostel experiance I have ever had. Great location, friendly staff. Magda is an asset to the hostel. She made our stay just that little bit more memorable. Daily activities. I can see why this hostel has won awards!

The ambience, the service and the location is awesome… Just keep with the hippie vibe and activities. Very close to the beach and got good food options around… Even a veggie can live here.

Very nice, I have 60 years and I found this hotel by booking and I have not regretted, I stayed longer than expected, atmosphere of surfers, the sea at the end of the street and the market at the foot of the hotel once a week or can be 2.

I really liked this place! The structure was about right for the purpose I was looking for. It is located next to the beach and there are bunch of little stores and markets close. There is breakfast included and the environment was inviting if you want to interact with people from another cultures. Bathrooms and kitchen are clean and the staff was very helpful with my doubts about the city.

Such a great place to stay for a great price! Stayed for 5 nights as part of my first solo travel trip. All of the other guests and hostel staff I met were extra friendly. The whole place was comfortable and kept very clean.

Best hostel iv'e stayed at Ever! great staff, extremely clean awesome Wi-Fi lots of activities for guest spacious great outdoor area to chill, play games party etc it's like 5 min walk to the beach if you want to learn to surf SD is the place to do it I'll defiantly be coming back. :)

Top 5 of the one of the 50-60 hostels I've visited in my life. Trust me. But don't go there to sleep, go there to have fun!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! I spent a week there on a solo trip and have never had such a great vacation. Atmosphere is friendly and so many unique and interesting people from all over the world. The hostel hosts so many activities that you are never at a loss for something to do, but you can also take some solo time and explore the area or relax on the beach. I can't wait to go back. Made many new friends! Such a great experience!

Price performance great. Good location. There are many small sweet shops nearby. Beach is not a few minutes walk away.

John is the man! The rooms are so clean, the staff were all so friendly, the Wi-Fi is better then home, the location is 5 mins to the beach. This hostel is for me.

The location is perfect — a block away from the beach surrounded by restaurants and shops. Rooms are clean and well-kept. Service is amazing — very helpful. I'd definitely visit again and recommend to everyone!

One of the best hostels I've been stayed in! Nice staff, good breakfast, good and clean rooms… the choice of offered tours are good! Can definitely recommend this place to stay and it's nearby the beach :)

The hostel was clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere for meeting people and fun activities. The included breakfast was good too with excellent location and very helpful staff. Only a few problems arose: noise travelled easily which woke me up several times in the night, and there was a plague of fliesin the kitchen and outside. Overall a very good place.

Very very clean,. Just a little younger crowd than. Me. All early 20's. Not to say that is bad. All around wonderful staff. Would stay again, but only for those that love the hostel experience.

This as been a amazing place, great staff and awesome thing to do … Far price on cost to stay here. On one main strip to the ocean, a lot stuff to do in walking distance … and best of all then give you rides to some place and it is free… all I know I will be back here again for sure … Meeting new people for all over worlds was awesome… Ones again awesome Staff.

My boyfriend and I loved it so much, we extended our stay. This is by far the cleanest hostel and they have so much to offer. Great schedule of events including a daily tour of Tijuana and they offer free yoga by the beach twice weekly. Gorgeous facility, too. Just wish they had AC.

Typical dorm layout with bunk beds but it's a better and cheaper alternative for a single person than staying at hotels. — they serve breakfast, which is nice. — hostel is located right beside the oceanfront and there are many little shops and restaurants to choose from. — Wi-Fi is included and is pretty fast. — the only downside is that it's a quite a hike or a 20 minute drive to downtown so if you don't have a car, it might be a little frustrating. Other than that, it has been a nice stay.

The hostel has a very chill vibe; location is perfect. Hostel also offers a cheap lovely group dinner. The back patio is quite a nice relaxing place to read. Traveled with my wife & we loved our time here. We'll be back soon.

The best hostel I have stayed at! Very comfortable accommodations, excellent location but most importantly top notch staff and volunteers. They really set an atmosphere of gun, inclusiveness, community and adventure! Thank you guys for a wonderful time!

Simply the best hostel I have ever been to. Nice atmosphere, beautiful rooms and comfy beds. U meet a lot of great people there and everyday activities are offered. I even extended my stay there because I was so amazed.

Americans Need Not Apply. They don't want/allow US travelers just foreigners. *Gotta love this FU in my own country. My hometown is not even in this timezone. The place looks like it's run down and beat to hell. They know they have the location so the quality takes a far far back seat.

Best hostel iv'e ever stayed in! The rooms were grear, nice warm bed, good showers with hot water, free brakefast and very nice food, kitchen to cook your own meals. The stuff are very nice and friendly. The hostel put on a huge halloween party and served drinks and I had a great time in that hostel and would definitely stay there again.

I recently stayed at OBI hostel and loved it. It isn't the Hilton but for $20 I wasn't expecting 5 star accommodations. My expectation was to get a clean bed, a washroom near the room and a kitchen to cook a few meals. I got all of those things but in addition I got warm welcoming staff, free breakfasts, a few cheap dinners, and interesting and informative interactions with hostelers from many other countries. I slept well (ear plugs help but that is mostly noise from the street). I had a wonderful time.

Drug use runs rampid at this hostel. The dirty fat guy that cooks smells bad, no one could stay in his room with him because of the bad smell. He gives away free beer with his tasteless food. He also does their Wi-Fi. Or their lack there of. One hour a day. Who does that? They overbook and put people to sleep in the laundry room, their office, the back patio and in the hallway on their bench. Owners' girlfriend (diana) makes decisions with no bases or reason. She is brainless and clueless. If it wasn't for the beach this hostel would be closed. I think it should be closed. People are living there 15yrs, 6yrs, 2yrs. Etc. I was told, you can stay 28days check out for a day and come back for 28days. Continuosly. Diana (the owners girlfriend) told me so. I am sure that is illegal. I will never go back there.

Pretty great for a first-time hostel experience. I was traveling with my boyfriend, and we stayed a couple nights in their co-ed dorms. We were told to call them upon our flight arrival to arrange transportation. They said to get a ride from a taxi and told us which costly roads to avoid. They reimbursed us when we got there. The room was basic. Two sets of bunk beds, sink, 4 lockers (bring your own lock). There was a front porch that always had people hanging out, eating and chatting on it. They had a kitchen with a refrigerator (completely full, but a place to put food if you need to), and the area for breakfast. Breakfast consisted of make your own pancakes and eggs. There was also a back area with couches for another place to hang out. The women's bathrooms were individual/private, and clean. I'm told the men's bathrooms were more public. Stalls for toilets, pee trough, pull chain showers. Overall, a great value for the budget traveler.

My experience at the OB international hostel has been amazing! The staff are super chill and my time here has been awesome! The porch is a great place to hang out and the hostel is in a perfect location.
