Reviews of DoubleTree 4*
I really enjoyed the stay at the hotel. Very family friendly & pet friendly. The room was ok I think it could have been better we were waiting on a suite but they informed us that there was a leakage and they gave us a regular room that once we walked in had a strong smell of water musty, earthy smell! The balcony was great food was great the inside Bar was amazing they had great mix drinks and food. The buffet was OK overall it was ok. The front desk workers great service.
Hotel rooms are dirty, beds are uncomfortable, fan in the bathroom was falling down, no window in the room but there was a balcony in the second room, shower is horrible barely drips out, outside looks nice lobby looks nice but the rooms definitely not 3-4 star. Just my opinion. Definitely won’t stay here again. And we are in San Diego a lot.
If it is quick to arrive, safe and quiet area, good service, spacious and clean rooms, you have shops nearby.
Friendly and professional staff, clean rooms, lots of amenities, (fridge, HBO, coffee maker, nice breakfast) ….
Wow, I'm not one to complain about little things but our stay at this Hilton was very disappointing. It all started when we noticed how crunchy the carpet seemed. Oh well it's a dog friendly room. Woke up to their in room coffee creamer was clumpy like cheese. Went down stairs to ask for some fresh cream and coffee. Got back to the room and the creamer was coagulated also. So I went down to the lobby where their $20 breakfast buffet was underway and took two coffees to go. Didn't ask, just took. The next morning they tried to charge Cindy for taking 2 coffees. She told them where to shove it and walked out. So I start to shave that morning and noticed shinny things all over the hand towel. It was solder from someone soldering over it. So I figured I would take some photos of this room and share all the little clean things that just says never stay here. Tell a friend.
Close to all freeways — parking needs to be improved but overall great venue!
The bed sheets / comforter were not changed! And you would think with this pandemic they would be more detail into cleaning. Also the rugs were dirty with stains. Disgusting.
This Place was awesome. The rooms were nice & clean. Service was excellent. Will definitely be going back.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful beds and great service. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.
So far the experience here has been horrible the room is disgusting. If I can I will post pictures. The bathtub is rusting, there was a wad of hair in the corner. There are stains and burns on the carpet. The room had a horrible smell. Oh and did I mention that the room was already paid for but made us pay again to get the room. I had to show the receipt from our email confirmation. There’s only one elevator working.
Pool was cold but hot tub was warm.
Excellent excellent service very friendly food all the staff.
Front desk manager was nice and Luke in Seaglass Restaurant was helpful in these days of unknowns!
Was checked into a room without electrical outlets, clock set an hour early etc
Process of sitting unpacked and waiting to get into a different room going on almost an hour… so far no compensation offered for this inconvenience.
Awful parking situation — surprise cost for parking as well.
Staff were all very customer conscience. Made experience quite nice.
Nice hotel but not a great location. Staff were great and no complaints about the hotel apart from location.
Beautiful view
Excellent restaurant.
Fresh hot cookies when you check in! staff was great Tonya checked us in an really helped us out! we usually stay at the other doubletree off hazard center but now just from our pleasant experience in the future we will book here! great location beautiful hotel! awesome professional staff Tonya made our stay that much better so thank you!
Worst customer service ever. We my son left bag in room after we checked out so they charged us another night. The manager Andrew Cooper was very rude to my wife and they still refused to return the extra night they charged. Hilton corporate had to return our money because Double Tree Hotel Circle kept changing their story why they decided to charge us for a second night after we checked out the day before. I will never ever go back to suck a horrible hotel experience.
The food was awesome along with the staff.
It's dirty, my room had cookies or nuts on the floor when I checked in, obviously poorly cleaned. The couch in the room is from 1970 and is gross, I wouldn't dare sit on it, come on now, when the brown dirt is rubbed in the couch replace it. There’re were bugs in the bathroom, the broken elevator in the garage was obviously broken for a while as the sign is all tattered and it was a pain to walk down from the fourth floor with luggage, you guys obviously don't care about your property. It is hands down the dirtiest and worst up-kept doubletree I have stayed in. Even worse than the London property across the street from Heathrow which is pretty bad. Very very disappointed. I will never stay with your property again.
This is definitely a wonderful place to stay at wonderful costumer service, extremely clean, comfortable beds amazing views super clean and warm swimming pool and a relaxing hot tub is you are visiting San Diego dont look any further this is definitely the place to stay I highly recommend it.
Way over priced, plus parking is 25 dollars day. Rooms were nothing special, parking garage elevator broken.
The hotel was nice, but the room didn't have a microwave & the hotel didn't offer breakfast. Complimentary breakfast was only for Diamond/Gold members & there wasn't a restaurant on site where we could purchase breakfast. Only option was room service. We were only spending one night there & these factors disrupted our morning by having to search for a meal. Other than that I'd recommend staying here.
If anybody is trying to find good deals on hotels visit HoteIBully. Com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere! We stayed here for my mom birthday weekend. The hotel was very nice and easy check in. Nice little balcony. Quiet floors. The pool area is very very nice. Garage parking easy access. 5 adults and a toddler fit comfy in a room. Definitely going to stay here again. NO BUGS, I checked high and low.
When we checked in, they put us in a hot room with air that wasn't working, and after waiting a while for someone to come fix it, we just asked for another room. Our new room was much cooler. The room looked like it had all new furnishings but it had stained walls, peeling wall paper, and needed paint. On the first night of our stay, we called and asked for extra pillows. They said they didn't have any. The next morning we asked for some extra towels, same story, they didn't have any. I had to dry off, after my shower, with a hand towel. That afternoon I asked the front desk for more pillows and they said they would send them up, but they never came. That night we called and asked for extra sheets, they never came, either. The first night, it was quiet enough for us to get some rest, but the second night there was extremely loud speakers outside in the courtyard area near the pool and it was impossible to relax or get to sleep. Overall, the service and amenities that I equate with this chain were sorely lacking. The cookies weren't even warm at check in. It was a huge, and very expensive, disappointment. I made a point to bring cash, for tipping, but no one ever did anything worthy of a tip. Furnishings were nice and the bed was comfy. No one ever gave me any attitude or was rude. I didn't see any bugs. Breakfast was good (though they didn't give me my breakfast vouchers at check in, so I had to leave my breakfast to go get them).

I attended a job fair at the Doubletree and found their conference area to be in an odd place, the basement. Signs directing participants to the stairway were there but the entrance to the stairs was located in the middle of a dining area for the restaurant. The first step down was slight higher than normal and it gave you a sense you were falling as you started your decent. Once on the lower floor there was a maze to finally reach the meeting rooms. The lower level had it own outside area and had ample natural light. The meeting room was appropriately arranged and had light snacks and coffee.
It was lovely! Upon check in they have us a warm delicious cookie. :) The rooms were clean and comfortable! Obvious wear and tear on some of the stuff in the rooms, as well as fairly weak water pressure. Really didn't bother us much since we were only there for one night :) a pleasant surprise though was an outdoor movie playing while a fire pit and hot tub were going. Perfect family fun!
Horrible old hotel that has not been updated since at least 2003. I came here to stay for a vacation for several nights, I checked in, got in the room and was greeted by a non-working A/C unit and the smell of mildew. I went down to the front desk to notify them that the A/C was not working and they quickly sent the maintenance man up to take a look at it. A few minutes later I was told that they wouldn't have the replacement part until a few days later and was offered a different room to stay in. I accepted and moved next door to the new room and was greeted with the worst smell I have ever encountered in a hotel. Smelled strongly of mildew, with a mix of cigarettes, wet stinky socks, and major humidity (more so than normal, even for San Diego). Given that I was being charged $150 per night and an additional $22 per day for parking, I felt ripped off. I was paying 4 star prices for what felt like a motel 6. I immediately requested a full refund, cancelled my reservation for the week, left, and stayed elsewhere. The front desk was very understanding and graciously allowed me to cancel, even though I did have to ask multiple times for a full refund and not just half payment for 1 night. Parking here is a joke with a price of $22 per night. The parking garage, if you can call it that, is so tight and impossible to navigate and not even connected to the hotel. Do not stay here until they do some heavy re-modeling. You have been warned.
Well we showed up to nice people but no bell service or so much as a cart. So we ditched the idea of getting our bags taken and decided to head for the parking garage which was surprisingly free (probably from the complaints). Anything larger than a 2 door car is going to have trouble in this garage as it is SUPER tight. No exaggeration there. So we lugged our bags down the parking garage elevator and down to the lobby where we found out about the $75/night deposit on top of their excess rate. So we get in our room and it’s nice nothing too fancy. Had what looked like Cola or maybe blood dried on the ceiling looking from the balcony and the carpet was soaked from them cleaning whatever was on spilt. (if it was indeed blood they clearly have an A+ cleaning staff aside from the dampness) As we awoke in search of coffee and hoping the lobby had something decent besides the stuff in the room we were again let down. No coffee in a hotel lobby. They even rhyme hilton come on guys.
Attending the hotel for a training seminar left a little too be desired. Refreshments are sparse, and no coffee was provided in the afternoon. The room provided for the seminar was small compared with the size of our group, and the food served at the restaurant was good but over priced ($16 for a relatively small salad). Were I staying for pleasure, I would have appreciated the proximity to Sea World and the airport.
Thr staff here was welcoming and lovely, they helped keep a package for me until I arrived which was a nice added service. The place itself smells amazing and it quite clean. The pool area is really pretty and the breakfast good was really good! I really enjoyed my stay here.
The rooms and overall hotel are very nice. They have an upscale feel with a great view on the upper floors. However, I don't like there is an additional fee for parking in a garage that isn't even connected to the building. To get back to your car, it's quite an awkward walk up. Besides that, the hotel pool and seating area was very relaxing and the room service menu was impressive. Overall, it was a great stay.
Not bad, just fairly outdated. Parking was expensive, $22 per day, and the parking was often full. My room was near the pool, which was loud until well after 10p. M. The coffee is not complimentary.
The inside of the Hilton is nice lobby area is clean and room are also well kept. The cookies at check in are delicious. The pool area is a bit small in compared to the size of the hotel. The parking situation was not good parking looked run down and unsafe. But overall it was a good stay.
Our stay was perfectly fine. Check in was quick and professional, but not very friendly or welcoming. The room was clean, spacious and bright. The bathroom could use some updates but perfectly fine all the same. Great pool area with plenty of loungers to relax in the sun. Would happily book another night here.
After reading those reviews, I didn't expect much for this hotel. But they were actually better than most. Hotel staff were polite and they let me checked in early. However the room was kind of sloppy side, not perfect but this is not 5 star hotel so you get what you pay for. Overall, it was a good stay.
If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… We Stayed here for 5 days. Great hotel, nice, clean, staff very friendly an helpful. Strongly recommend. Only one note, hotel charges for car parking, but you can leave your car parked in front of the hotel in the street, it safe and free.
WORST HOTEL! Manger called my room at 10pm and said she got a noise complaint and if she got another one she would EVICT ME! Me and my 9 year old daughter were jet-lagged and playing uno on the bed! So disrespectful. I paid $515 for 2 nights and ended up leaving early because I was felt so disrespected. If you plan to talk at a NORMAL TONE past 5:00pm, DON’T stay here! I didn’t catch the old Hags name but she the dry face old white manger. I’ll add her name when I get it. Not to mention, the hallway was full of dirty food trays that needed to be picked up. Head over to the Marriott in Mission Valley. Way more classy, modern and chic. you’ve been warned! no stars!
This wasn’t my first stay at this hotel. Last time, service was impeccable but one of the two elevators was out of order causing major delays to/from higher floors. This time, the staff was the problem. I checked in late; around 7pm. I was told that my room type wasn’t available so I was “upgraded” to a larger room. I got the family room with two queens squeezed into ½ the size of a regular room and bunk beds for kids into an adjoining room where the window was. In essence the square footage was larger but the room was considerably smaller. To complete the package the room was situated next to the elevators which are noisy. I requested a room change which was met with attitude. Older facility + dishonest front desk = bad rating.
Decent hotel and nice staff. Rooms aren't at the top of the technology but are clean. Elevators didn't work when I stayed there. If you do not have a car, the choice is limited when it's time to eat. Good meeting rooms but noting to add.
We Stayed here for 5 days. Great hotel, nice, clean, staff very friendly an helpful. Strongly recommend. Only one note, hotel charges for car parking, but you can leave your car parked in front of the hotel in the street, it safe and free.
I would rate higher but no fault of their own the place was under renovation and the bar was relocated and the IT was secured and was cash only with the till in another room… Needless to say it took a bit of time between rounds. That said all of the staff was very nice and helpful. Other then the renovation, it was a super clean well taken care of establishment.
There was construction (no notification), part of the order was missing when ordering breakfast in the room, they did not leave new towels when they cleaned, and the room did not have a microwave although it had a refrigerator.
CONS: Prepaid for guaranteed reservations and still waited until 6pm for our room. Check in stated 3pm. Later, after several attempts calling front desk with no answer, I went down stairs to wait 30 minutes in line to ask for a couple extra pillows. I was told room service would bring them to me. An hour and a half later, now nearly 10pm, with still no answer at the front desk I made the trip a second time to wait in line again only to be told there are no pillows available. At 11:30pm we had a guest attempting to open our door saying that he was booked in the same room. Most of the main floor and lobby were under construction with amenities unavailable. On day 2, we returned from the day on the town to a clean room, but no bathroom tissue. Called front desk and surprise, no answer. Went down stairs to wait in line and ask for toilet paper which was delivered by house keeping over an hour later. PROS: Coffee in room is good, mattress was comfy, rooms on upper floors facing west have nice view.
We had a guaranteed wheelchair accessible room reserved and when we went to check in, we were told that the room was not available. They did nothing to assist us in finding a room and sent us on our Merry way to find a room at midnight. Finally at 2 am we found one. Thank you to Marriott who assisted us in finding something.
Goodbye Hilton! We won't stay at your hotels again.
Beautiful place and location accessible to public transport from which you receive very good service.
As far as double tree chain hotels go, this one is ranks low. They nickle and dime you for everything including parking and breakfast. Most double trees I have been to always have some form of a complimentary breakfast. While we were there several cars were broken into and had wheels stolen because the security guard was napping. There are other good Doubletree hotels in San Diego and other Hilton chain hotels close by. I would recommend not staying at this Doubletree location.
Location was good. Parking is expensive, $25 per car. Rooms are non smoking and fairly clean. However there was still water in my bath with sediments that housekeeping forgot to clear. As I was only staying for one night I decided to ignore it but mentioned it to front desk during checkout. The reaction to that was disappointing, the staff actually said "you should have told me earlier, I could have given you a discount. But since you have already checked out there is nothing I can do. "
Where do I start? I visited San Diego in July and thought the Hilton was a prestigious hotel. When arriving to our room we discovered that our balcony room was located two floors above the dumpster. The room was covered in bugs that were literally biting us. When we went back to complain they didn't have any recommendations for us. I don't understand how you can put your guests in a room covered with bugs/ bed bugs. This hotel is absolutely disgusting and if its your first time in San Diego book a hotel elsewhere.
Probably one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. First day, the air conditioner was broken. Second night, bath tub didn't drain from that morning and heat didn't work for the chillier night. When we told the front desk person, we didn't get an apology and he treated us like we were just trashy and trying to get free stuff. Hilton used to be relatively prestigious and now it's just overpriced for a 2 star hotel quality. Oh and they charge their guests $20 each day to park… bed was decent I guess.
Great customer service. They upgraded our room. Everything was clean. The fitness center was great as well. Really enjoyed our stay.
The room was fine for the two nights we stayed. Walls were very thin. Heard full conversations from neighbors, and dresser drawers closing. Breakfast buffet was serviceable, but not great. Definitely not worth the $18.00 per person price.
We checked into our room a bit late but called ahead. Upon arriving into our room there was an extremely strong smell of sewage in the room. After having the receptionist bring “deodorizing spray” the smell lingered and was sickening. The hotel would not assist us in moving rooms or in finding a sister property to take care of us. We were without a hotel room at 1am with no care to the double tree staff. Terrible experience and took my money elsewhere. Don’t expect this hotel to accommodate you in any way if anything goes awry. I highly recommend you go elsewhere for your stay.
The hotel double booked our event so we ended up being outside in a tent. The food was decent, but the only type of food was pasta. I can't eat wheat at the moment due to health reasons, so I wish there were other options besides a plain salad.
No signage to help find parking. Drive in a one way staff only area. Had to back out a winding road. Did an E check in to reserve a specific room on high floor away from elevator. Got to hotel to find out they changed my room to a low floor next to loud freeway and pool. They argue and say the computer shows no record of e check in. Parking is 22$ a night and it's so tight to turn in and out. We decided to move to another Hilton in the area and this place changed me an "early departure fee"?! I've been a diamond member for over 7 years and stay at Hilton over 300 night a year! Way to treat your loyal guests.!
I attended an event at the DoubleTree Mission Valley. The property did not have adequate parking and I had to park about a quarter mile away. While at the property, I walked past several conference rooms that were empty so I imagine the parking would be terrible if they were at full capacity. The lobby was comfortable. Nice to relax for a few, before having to meet with people, after the long walk in the heat.
Room was nice although they gave me two queens instead of a king. Reason for the two star is that they were doing nothing as far as taking extra safety measures around the hep a outbreak 2 miles away. If they had told me they were doing extra cleaning with bleach or something that would have been great. But to tell me they weren't worried and that it was "just" downtown when downtown is two exits away was sub par for me.
Wow! I feel like I have arrived in this joint. After a night in my car and a night at another brand, I walked into the lobby of this place and immediately felt as if I had arrived at home. Check in was easy, my room outstanding, the courtyard and pool area very relaxing, and my warm cookie delicious! Well done Hilton! This place is extremely nice and comforting as I transition to the California lifestyle.
It's very nice here, but it lacks. Parking is a whopping 22 bucks a night. Rooms have fridges, but no microwaves, laundry services or freezers. There is a computer and printer in lobby. Price is too high.
We didn't have a great experience here. Check in time was 3, but they wouldn't let me into my room until 5. They were servicing a large conference at the time, so I understand why their service (in general) was lackluster, but I wish they had prepared themselves for the busy week a little bit better.
This was our family's 7th consecutive summer staying at this hotel. Last year I vowed that it would be our last, but the kids hate change & wanted to keep up our family "tradition" of staying at the same hotel in the family suite. I should have made an executive decision & booked with another hotel. The room was still in poor condition like the prior years; drapes were torn & paint was scratched in several locations. I immediately took pictures just in case they tried to charge me for damages. While taking pictures I noticed that the kids room of the family suite was missing the kids table & chairs. I went to the front desk and spoke to a manager, who promised to get us a table & chair set from another room at checkout the next day. Not only did that never happen, but I had to go to them and ask why it didn't happen. I was never contacted! After waiting to speak to someone, I was told that they couldn't take a table & chair set from another room and that there were no others available for our room. They comped us with free breakfast & $30 off of the room, but I would have preferred getting what I paid for & at least the common courtesy of proper communication. The 'straw that broke the camels back', was when we couldn't order movies because the TV's were new. My kids were very disappointed. Upon checkout, I asked to speak to a manager, who I was told was unavailable. I was promised a phone call as soon as possible from management.
For the most part my visit was enjoyable. The only thing is our room had used tooth brushes, old Cologne not picked up, a slashed curtain that apparently never got replaced, and when I ordered room service my apple juice had uncleaned lipstick stains still on the glass. The rooms we're nice however but would have been nice to stay in a room meant for a single couple instead of randomly getting upgraded for a family room when we have no kids.
The room we stayed in was a mess. There were marks all over the walls from people banging into it (the walkinh spaces in the room are crowded), the tub is scratched up and down the sides with rust around the drain, and there are 6" stains on the carpet. (My child likened it to a poop accident). In addition, the parking situation is awful, especially for the price they ask. The structure is 6' clearance with extremely tight turns. "Oversized" vehicles park behind the structure between a dumpster and a huge pile of broken chairs, up a fairly steep hill. We got a "family room" with bunk beds and the kids love the idea. However, the kids area has the fridge (No freezer and 62* when we arrived) and the thermostat and the balcony. Seems backwards, no? Oh, and the backsides of the curtains are mildew-y. Which you would notice/smell because one of the queen beds is 3" from the window. Also, one of the queen beds has bedside lights… that don't work. The other bed has had the lights very obviously removed from the headboard. Edit: we ended up contacting management and he came to the room and checked it out. He said the carpet was "only 2 weeks old" and should definitely not have been in that condition. He said there was nothing he could immediately do about the bathtub or the carpet but would have them looked at tomorrow. The hotel ended up moving us to two adjoining rooms which were… better.
So the service was great, the room was great. Nice and spacious for our overnight stay. However one of the drawers on the dresser kept sliding open. Also, if you stay on the first floor, be careful. The carpet is such a pattern that it is very easy to misjudge the last step going down. That's what my wife did and she ended up eating it hard. That's the only reason why I would rank our experience so low. The staff was quick to respond so once again, great service.
We stayed here a few weeks back. Front desk staff and breakfast staff were incredibility sweet and personable. I realize that they are working on some renovations and I am extremely excited to see the outcome! We ate and drank here during our stay as well. We had breakfast at the restaurant. We both did the breakfast buffet and what a selection it was. You can order an omelet from the server if you wish and there was a ton of food to choose from at the buffet. There was fresh fruit each day and the pineapple was my favorite. One morning they even had chicken and waffles. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy, but I topped it with some fabulous syrup and it was oh so delicious. Additionally, let me add that the young ladies that waited on us were incredible! Fantastic customer service! I would go back just for that incredible service. By day she brought our drinks and knew that he liked pop and I drank coffee. Amazing. Everything we were going to was close by and within a 5 to 10 minute Uber ride. If I went back, I would definitely stay here.
First, this Hotel would have recvd 5 stars but one thing made this only a 4 star. Their was no mention of a parking fee for $22. This is ridiculous. I would expect a high-ended hotel that I paid over $200 would include my parking. So rude! And… parking was hard due to space I guess. It's hard to get in and out. The hotel itself is very clean and most professionally managed. I was greeted with a warm welcome and was told all of the amenities the hotel had to offer. Stayed in the Hhonors floor. Beds were comfy and hardly heard any noise aside from occasional loud cars on the freeway. Keep up the good job, Doubletree by Hilton. But, please reconsider the parking fee, that's not cool at all.
This hotel is quality and I would recommend it. The lobby has a very nice spiral staircase and the people at the check-in are very welcoming and accommodating. In addition right beyond the lobby is a heated pool that goes to 5 feet in depth. The rooms were nicely put together and I personally slept very soundly on the beds.
I've spent way too many days at this hotel. All in all it's a pretty good spot with a helpful staff, a passable restaurant, and nice rooms. There are two downsides to this hotel that can't really be easily addressed. One is the parking garage, it is very tight and there isn't much parking to be had. It's a bit of a pain every time you come or go from the hotel. The other is location, while it's close enough in town to get to the places we needed to go, there is nothing you can really walk to there, no convenience store, or restaurants (aside from the 'Amigo Spot', which is a restaurant in another hotel and as classy as the name suggests). Basically you have to drive to everything, and after a long day working, and putting the car in the PITA parking spot, you just have no desire to go through all that again. Otherwise, a nice clean comfortable spot for a stay.
This DoubleTree was well priced for its location. The parking structure for it is a bit antiquated with its very tight turns and small spaces. The hotel itself was very nice in the lobby and the pool area was a spectacular place to lounge around. The room itself was clean though it looked a bit run down in th e bathroom from some rust in the tub to missing molding around the mirror. Light from the street lamps shine in from the street so leaving the curtains open isn't a very good option.
Service was excellent and the rooms were nice. Noise level was acceptable, though with children on holidays, the walls felt a bit thin at times. We had a cake that needed refrigeration that did not fit in the room's small fridge. The receptionist happily helped us with that.
Hotel was very nice on a surface level. However, the room I stayed in when was a tiny bit shabby. When looking at the minute details there was chipped paint in the bathroom, the AC when it turned on was incredibly loud, and the shower had some chipped rust spots. Service however was excellent. Not a fan of the $22 overnight parking but it comes with the territory.
The location is the convenient about a 10 minute drive from SDSU and most eating places. The room was nice and clean. The service was great. All the people working there were extremely hospitable. My family goes back there all the time! Would recommend.
The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. However, I feel the self-parking fee is outrageous, and beware, if your room is not secluded on the inside or backside of the hotel, I. E. Near the pool, you will not be able to open your slider door/window. The freeway noise is overwhelming.
Incredible service started right as we pulled up for valet. Great personality, along with great attitudes. Quick service and they hooked us up with free drinks off the bat. The room was really clean and had a nice view of the gazebo and a slight view of the wharf (Pier 39). My fiance surprised me here for my 35th birthday, and in the room waiting was a bottle of champagne on ice with a hand written note from the staff! My fiancé did not set this up specifically, but just told them it was for a birthday. Definitely worth the extra money for a special occasion!
The hotel was not as nice as the photos suggested. I booked through booking and there was no mention of the 18 dollar parking per night. This caused all sorts of problems. One front desk receptionist waived the 18 dollar per night parking. But the other front desk receptionist, Stephanie C, did not believe us and went outside to actually confront us AFTER I already checked out and was loading up my luggage into my car. She would not stop arguing with us. Very unprofessional and rude. Would never stay here again.
Easy access to the 8. On site bar and restaurant. Nice rooms in the Hilton Honors floor. Solid all around except the Wi-Fi was poor. $18 a night for parking in the deck too.
Would have rated 5 but the view was below par. Overall it's nice amenities in a decent location and very friendly staff, but the internet was shotty even for a hotel, especially a Hilton. If you want to talk about price I would suggest looking closer to the beach for the same price.
Booked thru priceline and no mention of the overpriced $18 per night parking. They dont tell you until you are there. They charge your card $50 per night upon check in for any possible incidentals. Hotel staff told me $18 was cheap because other hotels charge $40. I said then they should pay it. Hotel is close to where I need to be so I booked but not a hotel I would recommend.
Great service. Clean room. No free coffee in the morning and that made me sad. Free cookies though so that was nice.
Went for their hosting services for a Christmas party. Overall service was great, personnel was fantastic. Food was edible with great flavor, just a bit dry. Great time, though.
Expensive shirt stolen! I accidentally left my very expensive shirt hanging in the closet. I noticed on the drive back home and called immediately that day and the very next day, they said it was nowhere to be found. I told them the room number and the time we checked out and exactly where I left it. I have seen a few other reviews complaining about the same thing. No to mention The air conditioning had a high pitch noise the entire night… this hotel isn't worth over 65 bucks. I do not recommend!
Reserved the family suite which was way overpriced. My Granddaughter stepped on a syringe that was left next to the bed. Luckily it did not puncture her skin. The Hotel was not concerned and did not treat this like it was a urgent matter. The offered to buy us Breakfast the next morning. They should have comped our room. It was almost 250.00 Not impressed. I should have called the health dept to report this incident.
Doubletree was immediately avaliable, clean rooms and had many services avaliable such as a gym, pool and upscale resturant.
Honestly, this hotel is way overpriced for what you get. At $150+ per night, there's a lot missing that "lower quality" and less expensive hotels provide. THE ROOM They are only ok. Very dark and the provided lighting is junk. There is only one light controlled by wall switch, and the floor lamp could not be plugged in and used because the wall plates were blocked off. The rooms need to be properly updated. We had to repeatedly ask for the in room coffee station to be replenished on a daily basis. They would only replace the coffee, no sugar, no cream unless asked. What's the problem? This was, to a lesser extent, the same issue with shampoo and soap. We had to ask 2 or 3 times for soap and shampoo, which should be automatically provided on a daily basis. We spent 8 nights here and the carpet was vacuumed in our room one time, after we asked. This is ridiculous. We asked for our duvet to be replaced multiple times because it was torn on the end and feathers were coming out. Only the duvet cover was replaced. My wife was the one who dusted and cleaned the room. There was dust everywhere, on the top of the TV, on the head boards, on the bathroom shelves. Basically, the only surfaces that were being cleaned by the hotel were the tops of the desk, TV stand, and coffee table. Everything else was very dusty and caused sneezing, etc. Hilton, pay attention here, CLEAN THE DAMN ROOMS! The sliding glass doors are old and sound like a freight train when opened and closed.
Perfectly reasonable Pretty basic in the hilton family of hotels. Bar and grill onsite. No realy convenient grocery stores nearby but there are a few places to grab a bite… so all good there Didnt need to park a vehicle so no opinions on parking charges. Uber rocks! Nothing much to do after hours (see aforementioned walking distance remarks), but if you are looking fot a solid business destination this one isnt bad.
I have stayed at Double Tree Hotels several times in the past and have always enjoyed it. However, this particular Double Tree hotel is incredible questionable in the ways of room service. Having accidentally left two leather jackets in the room I stayed in, I expected that housekeeping would have put them in the lost and found and I'd have them returned to me in a few days time. Had to call multiple times over several days to even get the chance to speak to someone about it, only to find out that said missing items were never reported missing, despite the fact that I had left them in the closet on a hanger, and that they have apparently been stolen by someone in housekeeping. To put it simply — don't trust the people who clean your rooms. They won't be honest. Don't expect lost/misplaced items to be returned to you. You won't get them back. Aside from that, the hotel is great. Leave things at your own risk.
We didn't have any complaints while we were staying at the hotel, but afterwards. We had accidentally left two leather jackets hanging in the closet of our hotel room when we checked out and even though we quickly called the hotel to get them back, we were told that they "could not be found". We called multiple times to recover the jackets but were given no further help. The jackets were stolen and we no longer consider this hotel a trustworthy place to stay in. We are glad that we always removed our valuables from the room whenever we left while we stayed there, otherwise we might have had more items that "could not be found".
This goes down as one of our worst travel experiences. 1. $18/night to park? That's like selling me a car and then telling me I have to buy the keys. Ridiculous. 2. The room is desperately in need of cleaning and updating. Carpet stains, left over food in the frig, mold in the shower from top to bottom, hair on the floor, odor in the room. 3. Tub will not drain, so you stand in your filth throughout a shower. 4. Sheets had not been changed! As we were crawling into bed, we noticed tons of hair and debris of the last guest. Horrible. After calling the front desk three times, they sent us replacement sheets, delivered by the security guard, rolled up in a ball. Absolutely unbelievable… all with NO APOLOGY.
Went to San Diego for my wife's birthday. The staff in reception was very friendly and gave us suggestions of things to do in SD at the time we checked in. We were in our room about 10-15 minutes when we noticed an annoying sound in the room and realized our room was right under an AC unit. We went back to the front desk and requested a different room, right away we were given a different room and although it was just a few doors away from the first one it made a difference (don't get a room on the 8th floor). Later that day when we came back to our room my wife was pleasantly surprised with room service, they brought a bottle of wine, glasses and a platter with strawberries dipped in chocolate because it was HER BIRTHDAY! We definitely recommend this hotel, it was clean, bed was very comfortable and great customer service, we didn't use the pool but saw people enjoying it every day. The parking is tight so having a small car is a plus. For the price we paid, I would have given it a five star review if they offered complementary breakfast and/or didn't charge $18 a day for parking. Will definitely stay at this hotel next time we're in San Diego.
Terrible experience with the management of this hotel. Did a prepaid reservation for this hotel for my sister's birthday. When we found better accommodations we called to have the reservation cancelled, no problem. We made this reservation back in Feb and the reservation was for MAY! When the funds weren't being returned we call about why we hadn't gotten our money back and were informed that a prepaid reservation was non-refundable. We had not been informed of such a factor up until this point. The Service desk told us that it was clearly stated in the email we had received on the last page. Went through the email and yes it does state that the reservation was Non-refundable, Non-CANCELABLE, and Non-changable. After reading this I call and ask how they cancelled our reservation when it states that it is NOT CANCELABLE. They dance around the answer until finally someone tell me that they can cancel it on there end because in the event that someone DIES the hotel can cancel the reservation so they don't have to hold the hotel room. WOW! So I ask well is there nothing that can be done? They won't return my money, FINE, but couldn't they at least gives us the room we had already paid for? ALL I got was a lot of, let me pass this on to my manager, he is in a meeting, he had to go home on a family emergency. We will call you back, we will call you back, we will call you back. NOT ONE SINGLE CALL BACK not even a simple email. NOTHING but we will get to you when we can.
I would definitely recommend staying here. Nice rooms and amazing customer service. I left a shopping bag in my room with expensive items and didn't realize until I had traveled back to Utah. I called the next day to see if the cleaning staff turned this in. I was worried it had been mistaken for trash. They got right back to me promptly. Not only did they have the bag with all my things, but they also sent it to me that day. I could not be more pleased with this hotel.
Beware of Black Mould! Found mold in our room, a lot of mold, and the manager Stacy completely disregarded this as serious whatsoever. She did manage to find us a new room, however she forced us to move quickly so she could get another guest in there as quickly as possible. There is a serious disregard for general hygiene and basic health at this hotel.
Customer Service is lacking at this DoubleTree from Management. The manager (Ms. Mitchell) is unhelpful and she does not know one thing about customer service. I would not recommend this Hotel. Very disappointing experience and bad customer service! Find another Hotel that will give you a better customer service experience and know the value of customer. UPDATE*:The Head Management Supervisor (Sammie) has contacted me and ensured me that my opinion counts! I have no issues with the hotel overall it was a pleasant place to stay, just one of the managers was unhelpful, I would only recommend this Hotel with a caution of making sure, If you have a issue, make sure you speak to the right person.
For the price, I expected a better room. The lights over the beds didn't work, wine stains in the middle of the carpet, low ceilings and the fold out bed was comically springy and uncomfortable (it folded up on the ends when I sat on it). No, I would have expected this room and quality for $150 less than I paid. Will not return.
Went to check in at 3 pm and had to wait an hour. Got free packing for the delay. Room was okay. When we went to check out the following morning we were due cash back as we left the deposit in cash and decided to check out a day early. The front desk did not have the $425 on hand to return to us. We had to wait 35 minutes because the manager that had access was late. Not very impressed. Parking garage is also very small, do not bring big trucks.
I don’t often write reviews, but I wanted to help out fellow travelers so here goes. Recently, I stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego while attending the PAG XXII conference. I liked it a lot and would definitely recommend it to anyone else seeking a place to stay while attending PAG, provided you don't mind a bit of a walk, as it's about 15 minutes walk from the hotel entrance to Town and Country, where PAG is held. However, the 'Tree appears to be so much nicer than many of the other hotels in the area that I would definitely stay there again, despite the walk, which anyway is good exercise. Overall, I was very impressed by the level of hospitality and service from the staff. I made a number of special requests during my stay and the staff members were very accommodating. For example, one morning I had a lot of work to do and couldn't attend the morning sessions, and so I had to stay in my room, which was right above the front entrance of the hotel. The hotel was playing music on loudspeakers outside the entrance and I called the front desk to ask that they turn it off, which they did right away — no complaints or excuses. I also requested an early checkin — I called from the plane waiting for take-off from Charlotte. Not only did they assign me a room they were also able to change my reservation to a more suitable (and cheaper) room than the one I'd originally booked.
