The location is close to many things. So that is nice. Currently there is construction going on very close to the hotel that is making it very loud in rooms. It is not pleasant. There also seems to be an issue with my a/c that has not been addressed. UPDATE: A/C issue still has not been fixed and it has been 4 nights. TV was fixed. It was an issue they had with the whole hotel for two days. Tonight, there has been a party in the room next to me that is not being addressed. So, if you like to sleep in comfort, I really do not advise staying at this hotel. There are many others around this one that are cheaper where you can get better service and sleep. You can expect to get a message daily about specials for spending money at other Hilton properties though before 8 AM. So, there's that benefit.

I think the hotel was amazing. All rooms are suites. They have like a living/dining room with a TV and dinner table. They have a small fridge and a microwave. The room has a door between it and the bedroom. The bedroom has like its own sink inside, I don't know how to explain it, like why it's there. But the room is nice and spacious. They offer complimentary drinks every night between 530pm and 730pm. Breakfast is I think 630 to 1030. Hotel is nice. It's right downtown pretty much just north of seaport. Not even a 10 min walk to the Midway. Definitely worth staying in. Only downside is $50 valet parking only.

Despite the fact the hotel has many wonderful amenities and it’s well located. I have been highly disappointed with the personnel. The employees at the breakfast buffet where careless about our needs. We showed up literally ten minutes after closing explaining that our 3 year old woke up late. We asked for small plate with eggs for our daughter, nothing else. The lady gave us a big “no, I cannot help you” having the eggs in front of her. The personnel from the valet parking gave us a horrible service as well. If you are looking for a place to feel at home this is not.

I stayed here for a 3-day educational conference. The breakfast provided was drlicious, and the complimentary happy hour was an added pleasant surprise. Rooms are large, comfortable, and well appointed. My greatest compliment however, is to the front desk and their incredible customer service. One of my bags was inadvertently left in the lobby and the front desk went out of their way to help me locate it. As it turns out it had been taken to the unclaimed luggage room and stored safely for me. I cannot thank the front desk staff enough for their attention to detail and customer care.

My husband and I love staying at Embassy Suites Hotels. This one-night stay was for Comic Con and was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was great and the room spacious and clean. The evening reception and breakfast were only the cherries on top. They even had a "luggage check" for guests to use once you checked out and went to the Convention for the day. The parking situation was a bit cumbersome though, since $50 valet was the only option. All in all, great place and I recommend this hotel!

The staff here are very nice. Last year during our stay, they were able to give our group rooms next to each other during the busiest time of the year, Sam Diego Comic Con. The location is close to the convention center, a nice 10 minute walk. Breakfast is delicious, I like the eggs, bacon, and sausage. The rooms are spacious with a small living area for TV and desk for laptop. The empty fridge is also convenient.

This hotel is awesome! The veiw from our room is amazing as you can see from the pictures. Great breakfast and free Happy Hour! It's close to everything downtown. Plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. The only negative I have is the $50 a day parking fee. But I think that may just be a California thing. There is no free parking here!

The house is large, the four-person room has a large living room, the bathroom has a bathtub, there is no toothpaste toothbrush. The bed is small, the location and the view is great, the center of death and the attractions are very close. Breakfast was delicious and varied, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and felt the enthusiasm of their work. It will be recommended to those who want to come and live. Would like to come again.

Great breakfast food close to everything… good room view of bay. Staff super nice. The street nearby seems to have migrants or homeless folk in tents but they kept to themselves.

The location is great. Hotel is walkable to all of the major downtown areas including Little Italy and the Gaslamp area. There are also a good night of restaurants within a couple blocks. The needs are comfortable as is to be expected from a Hilton property. The one negative factor of these rooms is that the a/c is loud and comes on frequently throughout the night. Plus the placement of the fan blows directly at the second bed. This makes me glad I don't have a King bed, but the double beds feel a little smaller than usual. The daily breakfast and daily happy hour included is great, but the cost of parking (valet only and $50 at time of writing) is absolutely absurd. The staff has been very friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone willing to pay the parking fee it without a car.

This place was great. Our room was was the biggest hotel room I have ever seen, no joke. We had a great view also. The problem was the food. Although it was not to bad, it was one of the worst Embassy Suites food experience I have had, given that they are usually great in terms of food. But the veggies in the omelets were not packed in, so it was impossible to eat it. Overall though, it was GREAT.

Room was not ready when we tried to check in at 3:15 PM. Valet parking of $50 is NOT optional as stated on website. First day we were there we did not get any maid service. Second day, it wasn't complete when we got back to the room, after spending the day at Sea World. The pool had things floating in it and was in a severe need to be cleaned. The hotel does have an excellent breakfast and evening snacks. The location is unbelievable.

Excellent service from the moment of arrival up to the moment of departure. They truly are about their customer service & go above & beyond to accommodate just about any requests. The room was spacious with pleanty of room & everything a person would need on a daily basis. The view was absolutely beautiful with stunning views of both downtown as well as SD Bay area. Personally, the hotels location couldn't have been better. Definitely have found my "go to" hotel for any future San Diego trips.

The hotel is in a great area and just minutes from everything, the rooms big and clean. Rich Buffet and free happy hour for guests.

Location is a short walk to beach and Gas Lamp district. Accommodating our ridiculously large group of people was awesome. Staff very friendly. Free breakfast and drinks are a bonus!

Horrible. I was so disappointed. Our room was dirty, the sofa was torn, and there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. We then found a large wet area on the carpet. They checked the plumbing end the air conditioning, and then concluded it was something from a previous guest. My guess is that a toilet overflowed. Unfortunately, they did not have another room to move us in. It was a miserable, miserable stay.

I had a fantastic time at this hotel. Great location central to beach attractions and the gaslamp district. Free happy hour drinks and full breakfast on the mornings was very nice as well. Had an incorrect charge on my bill after I checked out which was quickly and easily corrected with a call to their customer support.

Went for an event with some friends. My friends had checked in and the hotel somehow could not find my name or reservation. They gave my friend the key to someone else's room that had guests already occupid in it. Also the valet driver crashed my friends car into the wall. Worst visit ever! Never going back!

Great location, great value, great room, awesome view but insane parking fees. We stayed for our anniversary and truly enjoyed everything but the valet fees. We upgraded to a balcony view and I'd recommend that to everyone. The staff was great as at all embassy suites, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

There are better options in the area at the same price point. Breakfast was crowded and this is a problem they know about but have yet to fix. Staff is very friendly and nice. Valet was a cluster bomb.

They have Dunkin Donuts. It's the only one in San Diego. It's also a great hotel with good bar deals with the rooms. However, Dunkin Donuts makes it worth the trip.

My favorite hotel in San Diego, CA. The ambiance and vibe was friendly, polished, yet off-beat and original. The staff members were always on point and friendly. It was genuine customer service, not forced customer service. I love this place and it was truly a wonderful place to relax and hangout in after a long day. Definitely coming back and hats off to the Hotel Carlton.

Breakfast is large, in line suffering from the sea shore is very close. Hotel Parking $ 46 a night it's expensive, the next 2 a cheap Parking lot, there's a night 8 early 18-point free. Recommended for the best parking is available.

The location is perfect. Close to downtown. Free open bar and breakfast definitely helped my wallet and gave me a positive attitude. The amenities are fantastic. I felt pampered for sure.

Location is great, close to the harbor with the USS Midway museum and Seaport Village within sight. The bay view is worthy the extra money if they're available. The breakfast isn't as good as most other Embassy Suites I've been to. The breakfast area is cramped and extremely busy, and the to-order cooks seem sullen and watching the way they made my omelette turned me off my meal. That, and the omelette looked like it has been run over by the parking valets. The pool was filled with screaming children until late and there is no adult swim time. The location and the view are definitely great, though.

I love this hotel! All suite rooms with great views of the bay and the USS Midway. Walk across the street to food, a park, small business shopping, the walkway by the bay, the Midway and more. The free, made-to-order breakfast is incredible. I would come back in a heartbeat.

I was there for a meeting. The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located to the convention center and Seaport Village. The meeting room was comfortable and quiet. I will probably choose to stay here the next time I am in San Diego.

Good hotel in a great location. Gym facilities are up to par and rooms were spacious. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Dunkin Donuts on property was a plus as well for great coffee.

Its alrite… just wished TV were alot clear. And hot tub is working.

Room was great and staff was excellent. Complimentary hour was great and so was the cook to order breakfast the next day. I would recommend staying here if your going to spend some time in San Diego.

Run Down Dump The management must be either incompetent, blind, or both. This place needs to be closed down, completely gutted, and rebuilt. It has to be all original construction, the place is terrible. They are charging 4-star hotel prices for a 2-star hotel in my book. Way overpriced for what you get, and then on top of it all they price gouge you with a $42 parking fee, needless to say there are no other options for parking anywhere near, so they can, "and choose to" charge whatever they want. I will never stay here again, ever, I can't believe this place has not been singled out by Hilton Worldwide, and made a bad example of, terrible from top to bottom. If you booked a room here, good luck, and if you haven't yet, then don't.

Every single staff member was amazing! The rooms are clean and nice size with the separate living room. Food was great and was nice to have a bar, coffee and ice cream shop, and a general store attached. Prime location to get anywhere. Very impressed. Downside, the 2 bed rooms have small beds so we were cramped. Definitely will be back!

Very bad service first we book a room for one day and they end up saying they booked it for the next day. So they fix the room date and then they have the nerve to tell us that this day we have the room does not permit promotions (over the phone), and if you cancel a reservation theirs a $60 cancelation fee. Then we get to the hotel and tell us that they only permit valet parking that costs $45 and no self parking. They didnt tell us that over the phone and then we get to our room and the toliet has a huge crack in it. The only good thing was probably the breakfeast. Very disappointed the other Embassy Suites I've been too do not have this many problems and breaks in notification policy.

Had a couple misshaps (reasonable), but the Manager (David) made it right in a major way. They stood by their promise to make it right (they have that slogan on the room key). You could imagine that with a lot of people from all walks of life what they have to deal with for issues that may arise. We experienced something that may be common in any hotel. We talked to David the manager, and he not only made it right, I was convinced that he was authentic in his concern and he handled the situation in a most amazing way. We are completely satisfied with the service from the Embassy Suites staff. And will touch base with David next month when we come back to downtown San Diego. Recommend.

I have stayed at Embassy Suites for over 20 years with very few issues UNTIL AUGUST 1ST 2015. We checked into Suite 229 and a few hours into our stay, my wife turned down the bed at appx. 6 p. M. To enjoy a nap. We found a dirty pair of low cut girls socks in the bed along with a hair clip full of hair. It was gross. I called the manager on duty right away (David) who said he would send up housekeeping right away. He then offered to pay for a rental car if I had one. I explained no rental car so then he said he would pay for valet $42.00 and any movies my family would order is on the house. I said fine. Housekeeping did not show up so we went to dinner. Upon returning around 8 p. M. Housekeeping still was a no show. I called again and talked to yet another "Manager on duty" who said they would be up quickly to fix the bed. No shows again. I called again and was told that Housekeeping had left and that someone would come make a bed with fresh linens, AGAIN, NO SHOW. AT 12:01 A. M. A security guard knocks on the door and drops off 1 flat sheet and says that is the best they can do. My wife and I decided to sleep on the floor next to the bed instead of sleeping with anymore gross surprises. I woke up to find a bill for $123.14 under my door which consisted of the valet and movies that were supposed to be covered because of the nasty bed issue. I went down to the front desk where I met Manager CHRISTOPHER TROWSDELL the smallest little POS on the earth.

I had a tiny mishap happen to one of my guests traveling with me. The front desk moved us to a different room, to which then the manager came and spoke to me. Bottom line, he did what he could to make it right with me. The hotel industry is a brutal one. I was highly upset that I had to move to another room and a different floor after an 8 hour drive however David's composure calmed me down. Amazing. At check out (with David), he and the valet manager were both there to tend to me. I couldn't believe this amazing service. I will be sure to stay there for my next race — San Diego Rock and Roll 2016 Thank you David.

Our stay at the Embassy Suites was just great. We were able to walk to Petco Park, Seaport Village, and the Midway. Hotel has been refurbished lately and things look more fresh then our visit three years ago. Breakfast was great and who doesn't love the free Happy Hour drinks. Perfect hotel for walking to many sites.

I have never been treated so poorly in my years of travel. I've traveled all over the world and have been in some of the best and worst hotels and to be honest after talking to not only the person at the front desk (kristy) and then sent to a manager (Ives) who still didn't care what there website said or wanted to help in anyway. The sad part is that I had stayed there for every trade show for the past 20 years because I made sure that I had our travel agent book it for my company. I truly believe it's a sign of the times when the customer gets treated like they don't care it's time to get a new place in SD. Time to go back to the Marriott where you know they want your business. sad sad customer service.

Terrible service from Christopher Trowsdell. I've stayed at Embassy Suites for years and in fact stayed at this exact location in the past with good experiences. This time was the opposite. I had made a reservation for one night to stay at this hotel because I was going to a nearby conference and that hotel didn't have availability for the final night of the conference when I booked my travel. However when I checked in they had availability so I decided to book the extra night so I wouldn't have to move hotels. This was on a Monday and my stay was scheduled for Thursday at Embassy Suites. Their cancellation policy is that I needed to cancel by 4pm that day and it was after 4pm when I called so I asked the staff I talked to if I could still cancel my reservation after I explained the situation. This person was very helpful, told me no problem and gave me a confirmation number for the cancellation. This issue was closed. Or so I thought. I just checked my credit card and I was still charged for the room, which could happen so I called and talked to the manager Chris Trowsdell and explained the situation. He looked up the record confirmed I had called to cancel, confirmed I was in fact cancelled but explained that I had missed the cancellation window so that's why I was charged.

Had a wonderful stay at this location. Arrived on a Saturday morning. First off know that there is only valet parking available and its roughly $35 + — and you get to take your car in and out of the lot as much as you need throughout your stay. As you go in the lobby you will find some areas are been renovated so there might be construction equipment around. Lobby and surrounding areas are very well decorated with a modern look with White tones and elegant looks. There is a row of 4 elevators to take guest to any floor with out having to wait. As we arrive to our room we see a living room area with very nice chairs and a couch as well as a big TV on the wall with several choices of channels followed by a small sink and a refrigerator and a microwave. The bathroom has a blow dryer available as well as a iron but no ironing board. Our room had 2 full size beds and a great view of the ocean front towards the USS Midway. We had the 12th floor so we got lucky with a very nice view. There is pool and Jacuzzi area which where very nice and clean as well as a gym/work out room. Every floor also has a laundry room area for guest to use around 5 pm we where offered to the complementary appetizers and open bar on the lower section near the lobby as well as complimentary breakfast in the morning. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would come back again and again.

Yes, there is construction going on. No, I'm not self-absorbed enough to let that ruin my stay. The room was spectacular as well as the view and the price was great. The housekeeping staff was really kind and did a great job. I completely recommend and will be staying again.

Great! Honestly, I really don't understand the complaints about the construction. The outstanding room, incredible view, kind housekeeping staff and helpful concierge completely overshadow any negativity you could find in the construction. Calling the construction an inconvenience is selfish and rude — my stay here was anything but inconvenient. The hotel was within walking distance of everything and the price was incredible for the room we got. The suite was incredible and way bigger than I anticipated. My boyfriend and I will definitely be coming back to see the finished construction and are excited about it. Absolutely recommend.

Well, where do I begin? My schedule stay here is Friday to Monday. Today is Sunday. First of all, the building is having a make over. LOTS of construction going on. (and DUST). So if you have allegories, I would steer clear. Saturday there was only ONE Elevator working. It was a mad house, there was at least a half block long line of people waiting to get on the elevator. At one point of time there was two working, but it stopped working when I was on it. : — (going back to my room from breakfast. The stairs were FULL because people were watching for the elevators so long. Saturday and Sunday, when I went to get ice, there was NONE on 2 floors below me, or on the floor I was on. So the front desk sent me to the hotel bar to get ICE on SATURDAY, SUNDAY, I asked could they bring me some to my room. And I got it. After waiting 8 minutes, being left on HOLD by the person on the front desk to come back to the phone : — ( Oh well I guess it could have been worse! Glad there wasn't a fire.

The hotel is undergoing some construction currently so not what I expected it to be. The morning breakfast area is a joke currently because of the construction. Room service is slow and you have to call couple of times to remind them for items you requested.

Towels and sheet have a terrible smell! The valid parking is $39 per night.

Over Priced! Too many People! And you want to charge me $39.00 to valet park and you dont have ANY REGULAR PARKING? Why dont you charge $39.00 more per room instead of scamming people? Charge was removed by manager then re charged soon as I checked out! wtf? POOR BUSINESS.

My family have been staying at this hotel for decades, and it has never disappointed. The staff is excellent, the grounds are immaculate, and the room views are second to none. Because of this hotel, I have trouble staying anywhere else. Even the Embassy Suites in La Jolla, which is great and a pleasure to stay at, doesn't even come close to the experience in Downtown.
