I arrived at OAK HILL INN with a paid reservation thru airbnb on aug 13 when the host laura saw my service dog she refused us accomodations She kept referring to my service dog as a pet and telling me that pets were not allowed. I repeatedly stated that the dog was a service animal, not a pet. She (and a male that I assume was her partner) refused to allow access that is legally permitted as an Americans with Disabilities Act law right. He kept restating that future guests might be allergic to dogs. In this Covid world rooms should be sanitized anyway between guests but that also was something he chose not to hear. I also pointed out that guests might also be allergic to their cleaning products but they refused to hear that, either. These hosts literally left 2 seniors and a small service dog standing in the street. We faced the possibility of having to sleep in our car. They chose to act in violation of ADA law, DISCRIMINATING against a person with a disability, as well as, violating my CIVIL RIGHTS If you are a person with a disability, care for or know someone with a disability, or just care that in this world CIVIL RIGHTS should be a given, choose to stay elsewhere. Patronize businesses that support the rights of all Furthermore, AIR BnB has refused to act to make me whole for the vacation that was a nightmare, not a vacation. When their hosts violate THEIR policies, the organization needs to step up and do the right thing to make it right!
