Wonderful place to stay. Quiet and relaxing. The staff were so nice and the restaurant so good. Beautiful resort.

We enjoyed a very relaxing and refreshing anniversary visit. Our meals were delicious! Every staff person we encountered were so helpful and pleasant!
We can hardly wait to return.

Extremely beautiful & peaceful place. How ever there are a few things that could improve. We reserved casita location 70 off of Sycamore. The room was very nice. It came with a private pool that unfortunately was cold as ice. We didn’t ask in advance for it to be preheated. I thought maybe since they knew the room was going to be rented they could’ve heated it for us as well.
It was Tuesday 11/25/20 and we had dinner at EL Zorro Bistro. A restaurant located within walking distance from our room. The food was delicious! The service was 100 percent grade A. Although we ate outside because of Covid-19 they had out door heaters to keep us cozy. At the end of our dinner we attempted to make reservations for the following evening 11/26/20 Thanksgiving dinner but the greater did not know how so he recommended that we try the next morning at 9 AM because the lady that does the reservations would start at that time. We called a little after 11 and left her name. We made a 7 PM appointment and somehow there were some kind of mixup and they lost our reservation. We ended up having a peaceful dinner in our room.
Overall I definitely recommend it. How ever I do think the staff could be trained a little better though. It is a beautiful place and very relaxing. That is what we wanted in the end.

Fabulous getaway in a charming resort! Enjoy a romantic weekend, or family fun! We’ve been here several times and always enjoy our stay! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the accommodations are always comfortable and top notch, and there’s so much to do here! Play all day throughout the resort (tennis, walking/jogging path, croquet, ping ping, swim) or relax n your room or poolside. We love it!

It's worth the drive. Great friendly service. The rooms are great, spotless, and I could easily stay a week there. The atmosphere is great and the asetic fits the location, it feels cozy and with a 24 hour pool what more could you ask for. The only problem with I can think of is location. San Diego is about 2 hours and L. A. Is about an hour and a half and the drive is far into the boonies, however the long drive is far worth it for this gem in the middle of nowhere Super cheap for what you get. Side note: The AC at certain temparures will turn on and off and could be problematic for light sleepers.

Absolutely amazing. They worked with us when we had a scheduling issue (on our part) and they even upgraded our room, free of charge. The room was beautiful and welcoming, I was so sad we had to leave. The pool was incredible, and the activities kept us busy for sure. The staff were INCREDIBLE, and were nothing but kind and sociable. If we're ever in the area again, you better believe we'll stay here. 10/10!

Great resort. Very good restaurant, great bar and great rooms. Rates during the summer are very reasonable. During the evening, the property is done up with multicolored lights. Recommend this resort if in the area.

Really nice hotel. Awesome staff. We had a 2 bedroom Casita that let us have our own pool, which was absolutely worth it, especially in the heat. The only complaint is that the restaurant is a little slow with getting you your food. We ordered breakfast to our room, and were told it would be 15 minutes, but took almost 40. But the hotel staff are really accommodating and helpful, and the rooms are really nice.

This place is amazing the best 3 day weekend. This place has amazing staff and A/C and lot's of pools and just a couple of minutes away from the town where there's additional food choices.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom casita. The price was excellent for the accommodations. The staff is superior and really goes above and beyond. The food is delicious! Will definitely return.

Stayed here for a weekend getaway with some friends. Hiked around the local mountains. Food in the restaurant isn't cheap, but the vibe is great.

The front desk clerk, AURORA, was amazing! The resort was amazingly beautiful, stunning even. My only concern was that I wish they had been a bit more extravagant in their bed/mattress choice. Any amazing night of sleep would have been an absolute topper to our trip.

The resort is a such a nice hidden gem in the desert. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. The spa is awesome. It's a very quiet place with a little fun night life in the bar. Don't expect a crazy party. It's a great romantic getaway for a night or two. Casitas need a bit of updating, but all around great.

Beautiful oasis in the desert. The rooms are great. The casita is a great private villa, however they are in much need of updating, especially for the cost.

Staff were friendly, they took us around to see the stars. They let us cancel without complaint. Overall good hotels. Many pools and features. Would visit again.

We loved soaking in the hot tub after a long day of hiking to unwind before dinner. Pools everywhere! Live music in the Fox Cantina Saturday night enhanced the whole experience.

My brother was visiting and wanted to go to Wednesday Night Rib Night. He and my wife thoroughly enjoyed their ribs. I had steak which OK. Not great. The room was lovely and the service was outstanding. Not many there. Not sure how they manage to keep it open.

The bar scene was excellent. We enjoyed the food and drinks at the bar. We loved our bartender, Joanie, she was fun, personable, and attentive. We ordered off the main menu and the food was excellent, especially the mushroom wellington. We will go there again on this trip.

Got there at 11am Would not let us check in. Nothing else around. Sat and waited 3 hours. The rooms were ready, they just have a policy… we were told… well, your policy sucks. Then checking out, they charged us $35 for a stuffed doll FOX that we supposed to have taken. What? Not only did I not take the Fox from our room, there wasn't one in our room. The place is beautiful but a RIPOFF. We will never ever go back. I'm telling people about it whenever I am asked. They will be bankrupt soon.

Rented a Casita and really appreciated the privacy and the spa. The room was nothing fancy, but it is comfortable and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Will return!

I've lived in San Diego's east county all my life and I've been to Borrego Springs hundreds of times for work and play. And La Casa de Zorro blows me away. Not at all what you expect from a small desert community. The rooms are very large and very nice. Ours was a double queen in the Primrose building first floor. Fireplace (wood burning), larger shower separate tub and a patio leading to the pool and Jacuzzi. We're here in January so temps are 70's Joe a high and 40's at night. Beautiful for walking the immaculately landscaped grounds on this 42 acres. 26 pools, most heated, three dining venues including a rose garden terrace that's very romantic. Excellent bar and a very friendly bartender, Joaney. In town there are now upscale eateries like Red Ocotillo and Keslings Kitchen as well as the old stand by bars and grilles of the biker days. And Chef Jeremy from Jeremy's On The Hill in Wynola has taken over the kitchen at the Rams Hill Golf Club. It's not the old Borrego and it deserves another look from everyone.

Beautifully laid out resort with tons of amenities. Slightly adult centric. Butterfield restaurant is top notch. Pools are quite nice. Waking path. Stargazing. Life size chess. Horseshoes. Tennis. Gym. Yoga. To name a few.

I a had summer vacation in this resort. Good location with enjoy desert night. Clean room. Large bathroom. Friendly staff. I want to stay again :)

Dinner at La Casas Del Zorro was wonderful. The food was excellent and well presented. However we had to use our cell phone flashlights to see the menu and even though we were the only patrons in our area I felt it took too long to get our food.

We had a relaxing night at the beautiful La Casa del Zorro. The grounds are stunning and so is the surrounding scenery. There are also tons of activities; biking, yoga, games, tennis. Etc. The room was perfect! Spacious and clean. My only complaints would be lack of veg options at the restaurant (and in Borrego in general) and snail speed Wi-Fi. However, I would go back in a heartbeat!

Wow where to start. The staff is amazing, friendly and it seems they genuinely want you to have the best time ever and we certainly did. The food was absolutely wonderful not a bad breakfast, lunch or dinner. Love the spa way to go Debbie! Love the resort grounds. Love the music and karaoke at the pool. It was our first time there but definitely not our last. Thank you team La Casa Del Zorro for making our one year wedding anniversary so memorable.

So I was in Borrego on one of the hottest days of the year and it was fantastic. The temperature was 113, but it was a dry heat. The best way to describe it was a free outdoor sauna. That was really great for my tired aching muscles. The property is quite beautiful and I love the light decorations on the trees at night. This wasn't my first visit, but I'm so glad that city sewer smell is gone. It really was distracting from the beauty all around. The staff was extra kind. The room was spacious and had everything I needed. I made good use of the little drink cooler in my deluxe room. The bed was fantastic. I want to buy a new bed now. The TV was large and I was able to connect my iPad with an accessory I brought. The room was quiet and the grounds were too. I really think people are afraid of the heat, but they shouldn't be. Oh, I loved my meal at the cantina. Great job.

This place is awesome. The grounds are well maintained and fun to walk around. (This place is huge). The room is very nice with a giant comfortable bed. The spa experience was amazing. Check this place out. Have a few drinks at the Fox Den and have fun.

The staff here was very nice. Pete, Louis, Steven, and Jeremiah were helpful when taking us around the property. We enjoyed the star expert who was very informative. And the meteor shower was great. Looking forward to visiting again.

Was so glad to see it open again. We drove by about 5 or 6 years ago and was sad to see the shape it was in. My husband and I used to go there a couple times a year for our "mini" vacations. We love it there. Just hope it hasn't changed much. We are planning a trip soon.

Great place, the rooms are amazing, the grounds are very well kept. Staff was all pleasant. The 5 pools are super clean. If you are in this immediate area, best place to stay by far.

Was a lovely establishment out in a very secluded area. The room was impeccable! Would highly recommend to any couple trying to get some alone time!

Such a wonderful place. Our friends at Merchants Metals in Southern CA treated us here as we are going through a rough period for medical issues. The place is a beautifully landscaped desert Oasis. Great food and private rooms with hot tubs. I could not recommend it more.

Terrible service — — beware of overbooking. I arrived with my family at La Casa del Zorro on Memorial Day weekend, after flying to San Diego and driving 2 hours through the night, only to find out that my confirmation number was worthless. I had even received a "We are looking forward to your visit tomorrow" email. After a half-hearted attempt to find us a room at another hotel, the staff gave us a "sorry" and shrug of the shoulders, and left us to sit alone in the lobby with the 6 year old and 8 year asleep on the couches. We sat there for an hour, without any attention from the staff, until we finally decided we had no choice but to drive another 2 hours back to San Diego before dawn. As my wife and I carried the children out the door, the hotel staff couldn't even be bothered to speak to us or hold the door open. Totally outrageous. Nor was there any follow up after we left. I don't usually bother with reviews, but this was the worst hotel experience of my life.

Best place in Borrego, tastefully brought back after a three year closure. Grounds and rooms are beautiful. Helpful staff, although they failed to provide me keys to both of the rooms I rented, and they didn't work when provided. No big deal, but I killed roaches in the room on two occasions. (No sense asking for another room, as they were sold out. ) Dining room provided good food and wine list, while not being pretentious. They are the best place in Borrego by far, and priced accordingly.

Excellant place to relax in privacy with there casts that have their own private pool! Excellant food and drink. The grounds are very well maintained. Pools are everywhere if you do not get a casita. The spa is excellant. Tennis courts olympic size pool with cabanas next to the courts. They have baci ball courts, shuffle board. They have a life size chess board and ping pong. There is great golf courses near by. This place is by itself in Borrego Springs. The staff will go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one.

One of the best experience ever! We had our own private pool. Casita was very clean with 2 bedrooms and two baths. We were staying out in the desert with not a soul in our view. Very secluded if that is what you want.

We stayed in a one bedroom casita with a private hot tub. The room is wonderful, very cozy and comfy. We stayed in August, so thankfully the rooms have great A/C and the shutters make the room dark. The ground are impeccably maintained, and the main pool is the cleanest I've ever seen. The resort is large with a variety of dining options, but for great food that's a l'il cheaper, head to Carlees in Borrego springs.

This place is awesome, it's in the middle of nowhere but it's awesome. The rooms are great, big beds, large spa like bathrooms, pools everywhere (20+), tennis courts, ping pong, life size chest, fitness room and on and on. Night life is not so great unless you want to go for a swim or do some star gazing, everything around town closes at 9 p. M. So make sure you swing by the convenience store to pick up some drinks and snacks.

The room was large and very beautiful. Loved all the pools available, as well as the activities. Great drinks at the bar and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely will be staying there again.

Truly truly loved our stay, however, left us wanting more. The room was absolutely gorgeous and the resort was beautiful as well. Our room was right next to a beautiful pool. There were some kids so we decided to walk around the resort and swim in the Olympic size pool which was heavenly. We settled into one of the canopies and enjoyed the resort life! The issues we had were we paid extra for the telescope and we didn't even get to use it because the hotel failed to tell us that the key telescope parts were in a hidden compartment zipper in the backpack. Very frustrating as we missed out on an experience that we paid more for! And when we mentioned it to the front desk manager he seemed unapologetic. The second was the food and service at dinner was horrible. OVER priced and not very good. The rib eye steak was all fatty and not pleasant. However, breakfast was the complete opposite. The service with Patty was incredible and the food was delicious. So as much as we loved this place and would love to have given it 5 stars, I just cant based on dinner and some other short comings.

Fantastic resort! Multiple tennis courts, multiple pools, lots of outdoor activities. I'm sure the weather is better in the winter than in the Summer (when I visited), but the grounds and facilities are great, with a friendly staff. The rooms are spacious, and the spa services looked nice (though I didn't try any of them). The gift shop was pretty sparse, but it seemed like a good place for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

This is a beautiful resort hidden in Borrego. The grounds have many activities/services to house from and spacious rooms to retire in St night. Air conditioning blows cold as ice and looks like there is a fireplace for the colder winter nights.

We had lunch at the restaurant. It was pretty expensive and not too exciting. The environment was nice though.

Everything about our stay was as I'd optimistically hoped for. The room was beautiful, the linens and bed were 5 star, the resort was immaculate, the quiet was stunning as were the sunrises and sunsets. Having worked in the hotel business my entire career, I love to be critical and snarky, but I have nothing but praise for this property. It has both deluxe rooms and private casitas. I loved the high beamed ceilings of our guest room with wood burning fire place. The remodel is very well done and the dining options are fabulous. Our visit was a celebration and it met and exceeded our expectations.

Grounds upkeep is clean andd inviting. Staff is friendly. Beautiful star watching location. Pools were heated and clean, especially being in desert with bugs being able to fill pool.

Aspects to this resort are 5 star — the games, the grounds, the casitases. However, the food is mediocre to poor and significantly over priced (avoid the "bar" restaurant. ) You are better served bringing your own breakfast and go elsewhere for dinner. But stick around at night for shuffle board, enjoy the pools, etc.

Returning to Casa Del Zorro after 20 years, the property has held to the test of time. The xeriscape gardens & grounds are well kept, the room was clean & inviting, the staff was polite & friendly & the breakfasts offered were well prepared. We were very happy to witness that the overall quality of our stay was as we remembered*. However — our complaint was the "evening poolside singing act" that carried on for over 2 hours, projected at a hideously high noise level. The sound reverberated over the entire resort complex! We voiced our extreme dissatisfaction as it was occurring, but NOTHING was done to tone down the volume. Therefore the highly valued & desired "Tranquility Factor" was stolen from us — particularly on our room balcony, let alone the inability to enjoy the use of the garden gazebos. A sorry & disturbing loss of "Zen" in beautiful Anza Borrego.

We love visiting Borrego Springs and staying at La Casa del Zorro. It's so refreshing and peaceful and feels so private. Because we were there in the heat of the summer this year, we had all the pools all to ourselves! The fitness room contains everything you need to get your workout in. The staff are among the friendliest and most helpful we've ever encountered! 3 areas that need work: please provide a few essentials in the kitchen: utensils, plates, dish towels and detergent; please provide a more effective fly-killing tool than a fly swatter; and finally, please use a very keen eye outside as well when cleaning units between visitors — — we were disturbed to find a used condom in the rocks beside our spa.

Bad, overpriced food in both the casual and upscale restaurants (breakfast and desserts were notable exceptions; both were very good). No real alternative food options nearby. Biting flies kept us from fully enjoying the poolside during the day and bon fire at night. Pool is chlorinated but at these prices should be salt water. The room was very nicely appointed with very strong Wi-Fi performance but smelled strongly of fire wood most likely due to bad ventilation.

Our 4 bedroom suite was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was top notch. But the extreme heat (>104 degreees at 11 PM) and the small flies made our stay unbearable. It was too hot to play tennis or go into the pool. The small flies were everywhere even flying around you when you got into the pool. Also there was also nothing to do in town. On our way to San Diego, we found a nice little town named Julian that was a fun spot to travel shop and eat. My son and I would love to give the resort a second chance but I don't think that we could convince my wife or daughters to go for it.

Such a nice place. Very relaxing, quiet and the stars are indescribable. The staff is excellent. Especially Lynn & Dee. They were genuine & helpful. They even caught up w us the next day to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Can't wait to go back.
