Stayed for a night during the Labor Day weekend. The room was very clean, the bedding felt good and the air conditioner was cooling the room quick. No complaints on the bathroom too. The breakfast was very limited though. Don’t rely on it to fill you till noon. Couple of my friends said they heard ppl talking and making noises from the room next and above in the night. I slept soundly though. I wouldn’t mind staying here again!

A very inexpensive Hotel that seems too good for the price. Nice rooms that are air conditioned. A nice pool that wades to six foot deep. Very friendly service. Would recommend to anyone passing through Redding. Awesome stay.

Goodwill industries was so gracious to me and put my family up when we were displaced. The room was spotless and we really enjoyed it. It had everything we needed. An iron, hair dryer, fridge, microwave. And staff was perfect.

My experience here was overall a good one. However, travelers must remember this is in the area of Redding that frequent thefts do occur in vehicles. You have A LOT of transient and homeless here. I caution travelers to this location to bring their valued items out of there cars such as laptops, tables, brief/leather cases, and phones. I personally witnessed a man steal a briefcase right out of a van from my bathroom window. The service from the front counter to the maid staff was very good. The Continental breakfast is non-hot and mostly finger grab items. So expect that. Overall a good visit and I would come back.

Clean, recently renovated rooms. Friendly, very helpful staff. Convenient walking distance to many downtown restaurants, cafes and pubs. We did not have noise problems. Much more fun than being out in an expressway exit motel.

Great Downtown Redding location. The free breakfast is standard stuff, but the Wi-Fi is solid. We had three devices all streaming video at the same time at 480p with little stutter. The AC unit worked perfectly. There was even a mini fridge for use, and a microwave. Only downsides were that the bedside lamp was broken, and the TV was a bit unresponsive. Five stars anyway.

Your average motel. Thin walls, hard bed, questionable plumbing. Pluses were the fridge and microwave for sure. Breakfast as well, though it's only for 2 hours, so you have to be on top of it. Our toilet barely flushed. For the one night stay we needed, it definitely did the job just fine.

Loved this hotel. It is clean, comfortable beds, and the hotel is easy to find. Our room included a TV, a mini fridge, and a microwave. There is a Mexican restaurant in walking distance which made supper easy. There is a breakfast included from 7 — 9 A. M. At a breakfast room. The breakfast was ok, but there was no protein. There is also a pool. The only problem we had was that the alarm clock was making a weird noise so we had to unplug it. Definitely would recommend this hotel!

Great price in the middle of town, it's has a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are clean, a bit dated but offers everything you need. Plenty of parking and a wonderful staff at the front desk, they offer a breakfast in the morning but I left to early to enjoy. Great place!

Convenient location, decent prices. Hotel is on the older side and the rooms have fairly thin walls, you can hear your neighbors a bit to well some times. Lots of good food nearby, staff very friendly and helpful, free internet that is just good enough to stream with.

I really want to give this place 5 stars but can't. We've stayed here twice now. We used to stay at motel6 when passing through on a road trip. The rooms are nice and clean, but the surrounding area can get noisy. We didn t notice it last time we were here but this time there was something that would start up every hour or so, it sounded like a semi was in the parking lot, but that was not the issue. We still have no idea what it was. Perhaps some cooling or heating thing on the Mexican restaurant across the way. Also due the part of town it's in there are sometimes random sketchy people hanging out nearby. We'd never know but go outside to smoke. Overall, we would stay here again and again, beats motel 6 by far. Oh and having a mini fridge is a bonus.

The room was really nice, the people at the desk were helpful and friendly and gave good directions. As a female traveling alone, I personally felt safe the two nights I stayed here… And it's walking distance, if you like walking, to the sundial bridge.

I am a local resident. I know how noisey it can get outside… Not the quietest side of town but its a nice hotel. I had some out of town friends stay there a few times.

Clean room. Comfortable bed. Friendly service. Affordable price. Had flat tire in parking lot. Went out of their way to help us to change the tire.

Walls are a little thin, and the parking situation could be better. Otherwise the rooms are clean and nice. Breakfast was good with choices of various pastries, oatmeals, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. Great place for a our one night stop in Redding. It is of note that you can clearly hear the train when it comes by, but that didn't bother us.

Clean rooms, friendly desk clerk, but the hotel is OLD. I wasn't expecting much. Honestly, given that the reservation was made hours before our arrival, and given the part of town it was located in, I was expecting a scary dump. My daughter made the reservation for us while we were driving and it saved us. My only criteria was "clean and safe. " I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the rooms were clean (up to my fanatic standards even) and the front desk clerk was friendly, smart, and incredibly helpful. The bed was a welcome sanctuary, and comfortable in its own right. There was additional free parking across the street for our moving truck, and I was assured that there was nothing to worry about from a safety perspective. The building is *old* — seriously old. There is a big difference between redecorate and remodel. While it has been redecorated recently, the building was quite possibly built in the dark ages. If you have an earthquake/old building phobia, you might want to go to the north end of town and spend twice as much for a comparable room in a newer building. I grew up in earthquake country, so I wasn't concerned — but some folks might be, so I put it out there for their benefit. The "breakfast" was cereal, dry danish, and yogurt, but if a full breakfast had been a concern, I would have asked before making a reservation. We were traveling with our 4-legged family member, and for an extra $15.00, she got to stay in the room with us.

We visited Thunderbird Lodge on November 25, 2017, choosing it because of our positive experience on a previous visit. The room was clean and spacious. There was a small refrigerator which was useful for "recharging" our ice chest (this is our one stop on the 1000-mile trip from LA to Portland). The Wi-Fi was easy to access and worked reliably. We like the fact that Thunderbird is in an older part of town, with several restaurant options within easy walking distance (we chose La Cabana, steps away). Only negatives: (1) No tea in the room (only coffee), (2) the included breakfast is rather lame — — we'll probably just skip it next time, (3) slight hum from the refrigerator and (4) the shower curtain was mounted too high with a gap at the bottom. My wife adds that the room was attractively decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The people at the desk were helpful (we asked for a quiet room and got one). This will be our standard stop for subsequent return trips from LA.

Very nice transient stop. Very clean. Not fancy, just a good bed and clean. Owner was really questioning a low level guest in lobby, I appreciated the diligence of trying to have decent normal guests and travelers.

Check out at 11 O'clock, or at 11:02am you'll have a call from reception asking if you're gonna extend. If you're not ready at 11:35 AM another 3 more calls and the owner will nock the door and gently ask you to get out. 15 years working and owning Hotels, also traveling everywhere and was first time I saw something like this!

This is our second time at Thunderbird Lodge, and at this point it's the only place we stay in Redding! It's very easy to get to from the freeway, and the rooms are always clean and fully loaded with fridge and microwave. It's right in downtown next to good restaurants, and the Wi-Fi is solid too.

Comfy enough for the price but wish there was just a bit more parking. A. C. Unit was a wall unit so either freezing or hot. Good shower and really conveniently located for a great weekend in Redding and surrounding area.

BED BUGS — Confirmed with report from Health Dept I stayed in room 216 for 3 nights in early July, 2017. I got eaten alive. I won't go into all the details, but lets just say that when I notified the Thunderbird Lodge a few days later, they had a less than desirable response. Jay P. The GM, wrote that "After thorough inspection of the room, we have found no evidence of bed bugs. We extended our investigation to the adjacent rooms as well and have found no evidence of bed bugs. At this time, I am wondering if you are allergic to some of the detergents used to wash the linen. I have personally experienced bumps and rashes while staying at other hotels since I am sensitive to detergents. " Keep in mind, I had asked for a report from a professional inspection company. They REFUSED to do that. So, I reported it to the Shasta County Health Department. The Health Dept acted quickly and a couple of days later, they called me and confirmed that the room had bed bugs. They forwarded me the report. This is public information, you can call to confirm. Mr. Patel (nor any other employee from this establishment) has never contacted me again after the Health Dept Inspection. No apology, no notice — nothing. Had this hotel taken immediate, professional measures to remedy this situation, I might not feel the need to share this story with other travelers. But their unwillingness to do anything about the problem when I reported it is worrisome.

Motel room was great. Has a fridge and microwave. We had a dog and the pet room had hardwood/laminate flooring. Overall a great stay. Customer service was not the best. The woman there was very unprofessional and seemingly unhappy that we were there. The ice bucket they had was dirty and when I brought up the issue, she said it was not actually dirty despite being able to pick it off.

Nothing special. Rooms are small and the buildings are old, but it is clean and recently remodeled. Perfect if you just need to sleep and get back on the road. Rooms do have refrigerator and microwave, so it is also suitable if you want to save money on a longer trip. Parking is a bit limited, but the restaurant lot across the alley is available. I would stay here again.

The staff was very nice, and the room was decently clean, but we were very frustrated with the paper thin walls. We were right next to the road and had people walking by, talking loudly, and cars driving by, with stereo's blasting, until around 2 am. And the trains speeding through at all hours was not cool. There were 4 of us in the room, and the only one who got any real sleep was our 2 year old. We were supposed to have queen beds but they were definitely smaller than a normal queen bed. Also, the bathroom was tiny, and only had a shower. The breakfast was very minimal, and I couldn't find any creamer for my coffee. We ended up going to Dutch Bros to get our morning caffeine fix. I definitely don't recommend this place, and we will not be returning.

Comfortable and very clean, I really liked staying here. Good water pressure in the shower, that is a big plus for me! A nice window in the bathroom, nice windows that open in the room. The heater worked perfectly.

Like a to two story motor lodge, but nicely renovated. Clean comfortable room, but a bit small. Breakfast didn't start till 7, so I had to pass. Overall very nice for the price.

Very nice rooms, great pool, nice continental break, all for a very good rate. Definitely stopping here again.

Pros: Friendly staff, clean and quiet room! Right next to highway. Very convenient. Cons: because it was by a main highway entrance, it was very loud at times with all the souped up exhausts and emergency vehicles going by. However, the room itself was quite. Also, down town is not a great area. But I didn't have any problems. I'd say this is a better hotel in the area.

The place was fun and retro looking, and when you go inside the rooms they are modernized and nice. The staff was nice and friendly as well. The downside was the parking. It was very limited, I don't know if it was at full capacity or not but we had to park by a close restaurant and that only left 2 spots left there.

We stayed here about a year ago when we visited Redding, and liked it well enough to return! Very clean, good location (24 hr donut shop around the corner, restaurants, gas station, fast food very nearby. ) Pool was chilly but clean. Price is great, includes breakfast!

The room was very nice, nicer than you'd expect from the exterior. The AC remote didn't work, and the unit was high on the wall, so it was a bit of a stretch to change the settings. I would have liked a bathtub, but the shower was good. The Wi-Fi was spotty in my room, and slower than my cellular connection. But these are all minor quibbles with a pleasant stay in a convenient location at a great price.

This one of of the lesser expensive hotels in Redding — Thumbs up for that. For the Price, I was impressed. There were minor cosmetic issues in our room but this is no 4 star hotel so I didn't expect perfection. They offer free continental breakfast, which I should have taken advantage of but to me breakfast means eggs… so we went elsewhere. My only negative is that we checked in early and then had a meeting and dinner to go to. Once we returned (after 11pm) there was absolutely no parking! I had to park on the street in a spot that said 2 hour parking 8-5pm. So I had to be sure to get out to my car the next morning before I got a ticket. All in all the stay was comfortable and worked well for us. Oh and the donut shop around the corner = AMAZING!

We came into Redding without a hotel booked. When we looked online and saw the price and the rating for the Thunderbird Lodge it stood out as a high rating for the price. However, we were concerned about being downtown and the noise comments. In the end, we are very happy we stayed here. Rooms have been renovated very nicely. Definitely quality. Very comfortable and clean room. The whole place was clean and tidy. Breakfast was what we expected too. Definitely above value for the price. We'll come back here.

Doesn't look like much on the outside, but the prices were very reasonable and the rooms are much nicer than you'd expect.

I can hear everything through the walls. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have my daughter here trying to sleep. Also I kept feeling like bugs were crawling on me in bed and it freaked me out! I just drove 11 hours to get here with only an hour sleep and I was hoping to get a good nights rest! Oh well! Good price and a roof over our head for the night.

Stayed here on our way down to California and on our way up! We were very pleased with our stay here and thought we scored! Finding such a nice place at such a low cost… Our second night we stayed… We saw a roach in the room. We called the front desk and the gal moved us into another room. You can hear everything! To the top, left, and right of you. We came back with tons of bites! My friend is completely covered in them! We know this is a pet friendly place and we also know that management doesn't check pets for fleas but we got bit! A LOT! Great showers, nice beds, clean grounds, and nice pool! Taco Bell, Heavenly Donuts and a gas station all within walking distance! Would stay here again if I was guaranteed I wouldn't get bitten by any roaches or fleas. Kind of grossed out.

Nice clean rooms, recently remodeled which made everything comfortable. I could hear every movement in the room above me, but that was the only downside. For the price I would absolutely recommend this place.

This place is a nightmare. There are hardly anyone here right now and they gave me a room under a ton of people and guys partying and noisy. I went to the office to asked to be moved and they said nothing available is not true. I have already told party people I'm trying to sleep as well. This has been going on for an hour and a half.
I'm going to keep on giving your hotel a poor rating until I get my money back. Horrible place, I asked 3 times to be moved because of noisy rude people above me. I got no sleep and was sick driving my next 900 miles the next day.

Only stayed here once recently and prob will stay again this weekend. Recently remodeled from what I hear and the rooms are very decent for a great location walking distance to everything downtown.

Fantastic hotel at a great price too. Girlfriend and I spent two nights here and we were very impressed with the clean and stylish rooms. Everything seems recently upgraded/remodeled which was a big plus. Also, staff was very courteous. You won't regret staying here.

The new owners have done a great job of updating this hotel. The room we rented (two queens) had new furniture, and bedding, a flat screen t. V. The room was freshly painted, and it had a recently re-tiled shower and bathroom floor. Very nice! For the price, this hotel definitely rates a 4 star. I'd have rated it a 5-star, for the price ($65 plus a $10 per dog fee, which is typical of all hotels), except that it's right near train tracks (as are ALL hotels any where in the area). The staff was very nice. The free Continental breakfast was fine: cold cereals, fruit, coffee, milk, and toast. Typical for most budget hotels. Wifi was solid. When you're reading hotel reviews, keep in mind that you rate a budget hotel against a budget hotel, for stars: the question is, did it meet your expectations for that price, or not? This hotel certainly met our expectations.

Do not stay here. Gave me one rate then charged my card $136 extra and told me to deal with it. Very rude and the bugs they told were my imagination. Do not give them credit card info.

This place has a great retro feel with up to date facilities. My boyfriend and I had a great stay.

This place was recently remodeled. Everything inside is new. From outside it looked worse, but I'm glad I stayed here. For there price, this is a really great place to stay. I would Totally stay here again.
