Usually a great spot to go if in Monterey. Expensive food and lodging but usually worth it. I stay here usually one month out of the year and it's changed some since Covid but still a good high end spot. Not the typical Monterey tourist trap.

Rooms are big but not cozy. They need more furniture and hominess; too cold feeling. Doors slam shut HARD so you hear everyone’s door way down the hall. Also a screaming baby was in the next room; walls are thin. Also, the Nespresso machine sucked. Needs a k-cup coffee maker instead. The bathroom was the best space.

Excellent room — fireplace, comfy bedding, large bath with a deep soaking tub. Coffee maker, snax and stocked fridge. Quiet. Very clean.

Very good hotel bar and restaurant. Large common areas with great views of the ocean and (on a clear day) Santa Cruz.
And, best for last, the location. Park your car (by valet) and enjoy Cannery Row and the Aquarium without driving.

Fantastic location and setting, rooms very well equipped and very clean. Staff are some of the nicest we have came across in all the places we have been to, from the valet service, reception, concierge, bar staff and bell cart service — all were really nice helpful people-Monterey should be proud of this place. We will 100% be back.

We were treated like gold from the moment we walked in. The valet service was amazing, they even went back to retrieve sunglasses that my fiancé had left in the vehicle earlier in the day. Location couldn’t be better! We left our French doors ajar throughout the night and had the most restful sleep listening to the waves. We both highly recommend it and will definitely rebook with the InterContinental on our next visit to Monterey.

What a wonderful experience… the staff was genuine, friendly and accommodating. Awesome customer service starting the minute we pulled up to the hotel. Mark in guest service new it was our anniversary and made sure we had a memorable evening having sent a card along with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room while we were out. We can not say enough about this place.

My experience at InterContinental The Clement Monterey was fantastic. The hotel is located in a perfect spot in downtown Monterey right on the water. I did not eat at the restaurant, but it has beautiful ocean views. The staff was great and very helpful. One thing to note is that the only parking available is valet for a $30 for your entire stay.

I received a aromatherapy massage with Joe. It was very relaxing. I had some sore spots and he took care of it. It was a combination of relaxation and pain reduction. This was a gift from my daughter. The staff was very pleasing, friendly, and professional. They had a jacuzzi and pool it was enough for me to sit out in the pool area and do my work using my phone. I can't wait to repeat the experience.

I'm not sure if I already reviewed this beautiful hotel or not. If you ever have a chance, go. The perfection will calm you, the outside heat lamps will warm you, the water views will relax you and the bar will keep you happy. The rooms are wonderful as well. Be sure to follow the crowd to see the sunset and don't miss the sea lions on the way.

So disappointed with our stay. Self parking was confusing and we had a hard time finding how to get to the hotel from the parking garage, staff at the front desk were very rude at check in and the beds were very very uncomfortable. You definitely do NOT get what you pay for. The only plus is the location.

Excellent service by their staff and amenities were great. Location is in the heart of Monterey — busy tourist area. Lots and lots of great restaurants to choose from. The gym was small but adequate for workouts if you're on vacation or on business. Business center is small as well but good for private video conferencing. Had a great stay overall!

My card was charged more then quoted, beds were not comfortable, there was and still is food on one of the robes provided, the bathroom sink drains super slow and the ppl in the room next door keep opening the door that connects making noise. I expected way way better, without the dried comet in the shower and bathtub.

Our room on the fourth floor had a marvelous view of the ocean. Even the rooms designated "partial view" have a lovely look onto the water. The Juliet Balcony is a terrific detail to the room, as is the gas fireplace. There is ample space in the living area as well as the bathroom, though I'd still encourage a double sink rather than the single. We've stayed at other InterContinental properties in other countries and they never disappoint. Understated service, simple but high quality rooms full of detail, and locations that couldn't be better. It's expensive, but worth it for an indulgence.

My second time staying here. It’s a beautiful place to stay. Room was wonderful and staff very friendly. Loved Happy Hour sitting on the patio and making new acquaintances with other travelers and locals as well.

Surprisingly we were able to get a same-day memorial day weekend reservation. This place is super nice, and the location is perfect for spending the day in Monterey. Very close to the aquarium and all of the cannery row restaurants. Parking is $29 a day, and breakfast isn't included in most of the rooms. Only a few of the rooms have an ocean view, so book early if that's something you're looking for.

Excellent hotel in an amazing location in Monterey. Stayed here with my wife and children in a double-double room. IHG hotels are never cheap but you get high quality rooms, excellent service and a very good location. We walked the length of cannery row looking for a decent place to sit in the sun for a beer and ended up right back at the hotel which has a lovely outside terrace and a very good bar. Within a few steps are many decent eateries and a Brewery just round the corner. Valet parking was $29 for 24h but Monterey was heaving with visitors when we came so it was well worth the money to have the stress of parking removed. I would definitely come back and stay here as one night wasn’t enough.

Great hotel and great service. Beautiful views from the back patio with fire pits and heated lamps. Room was nice with great quality. Walking distance from the aquarium. In fact, it's almost next door. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed 1 night with a group of 3 people. Very impressed with the service here! Parking was quick and cost 30$ for the night, reasonable for the area. We were lucky to have Bobby — who was able to upgrade our room! Beautiful view of the ocean. Spacious, clean rooms. They have fire-places beside the patio door which contributes to the relaxing environment. Would definitely recommend!

I came here yesterday for dinner and drinks. The service was incredible. It felt like home once you were greeted at the door. Our waiter was great. He even gave us oysters on the house! The ambiance is beautiful. You're seated right on the water and can watch the sunset while you enjoy your meal. Definitely would visit again!

Apart from its convenient location beside the beach, this Intercontinental Hotel is nothing special. The rooms are nice and comfortable but the swimming pool is long but very thin and not really suitable for swimming, more like an elongated Jacuzzi. I should have researched more before I booked.

The hotel is lovely and the location can’t be beat! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I didn’t like the coffee maker. Espresso is not what I consider a cup of coffee. I had to make hot water in the provided kettle and dilute the espresso. Also check your bill! There were charges that we’re not ours but the fest staff cleared it up without hassle.

We decided to splurge and stay at the InterContinental for a night. We were sure glad we did. The rooms were great, super clean and modern. The mini bar was a little pricey, so I would suggest a quick trip to the mini mart. The pool was small, but warm and convenient. The spa was also good. The best part was having the Monterey Bay Trail right out the back door and cannery street out the front. No reason to get in the car.

I haven’t 1 negative thing to say about this place. Super clean. Very nice. The staff is incredibly accommodating. We had the unfortunate event of my husband and my son getting sick and they took amazing care of us and were quick to help in any way. Even washed some of my sons clothes for us. I HIGHLY recommend this place and look forward to returning.

This hotel is a gem. If you're ever in Monterey, do yourself a favor and stay here. The location is centrally placed in cannery row where you have a multiple options of shops, restaurants, and entertainment within immediate walking distance. As far as I could tell the hotel didn't have self parking so plan to use the valet, but again everything is close. As far as the service of the hotel, it was excellent. The concierge was helpful and personable. Check-in was a breeze. The room was amazing with a pillow soft bed. This was a great place.

My husband, 7 month old daughter and I had brunch and drinks at the Intercontinental today and our server/bartender Jesse was incredible. He legitimately made the experience an incredible one and we will be coming back, as well as referring friends and family to this establishment on Jesse’s behalf. He was extremely personable, friendly and provided amazing service. He waited on us just the right amount — not being at all overbearing but also not forgetting about us. He also appeared to enjoy his job on a sincere level, which is something that’s hard to find these days. Thank you Jesse for your amazing service, we hope to see you again!

The atmosphere was great and it was awesome to be about to walk outside and be on Cannery Row. We had the double queen suite and had ample space. Only wish we had a compact fridge because the one there was a full mini bar. There was a restaurant there but we didn't eat there. I do recommend the valet. We booked with a third party and got free parking.

Matt, Chris and Sunil at the Front Desk are great assets to the hotel. They have been extraordinarily helpful and we appreciated their help and smiling faces! Drinks from the bar are superb and the view from the dining room spectacular! Thanks for making my husband's retirement stay so memorable for our family.

I found Intercontinental in the Back of Monterey Peninsula Magazine and I loved it there is a Cozy Alley way on the Side with a history walk and beautiful back deck for weddings. I really love the view on the Left when exiting the Hotel into the Back. I read and meditate it's great. Open to the Public.

The Clement is an excellent hotel that I would recommend to folks if they are open to splurging on a place to stay in Monterey. It is super close to the Aquarium, which is typically the reason for my trips to MB. The rooms are comfortable and the full bath tub makes it feel luxurious. The restaurant downstairs, The C, is also a nice place to eat, pretty decent food and a lovely ocean view. I must say, the waffles for breakfast were crispy-delicious. Overall, more positives than negatives for me. The price can be daunting but when you catch a deal, nothing compares.

Great hotel. Love that it's right next the aquarium and the ocean. It has a restaurant that's excellent for breakfast and happy hour. On the expensive side for sure, but not outrageous. The pool is tiny, so I wouldn't come here for that. The valet is expensive, so I skip that as well. Out of the 3 luxury hotels on cannery row, I'd put it 3rd. It's still excellent, I just prefer the other 2. That being said, I've had better luck lately getting a better price here, so when that happens, I stay here. I find the bed a little form and the down pillows lack support, so it's a weird combo for me, but others might enjoy it. If you get it for a good price, you won't regret it.

It's not a great hotel, given the cost. In its defense, there are not too many great hotels in Monterey. Don't get fooled by the swimming pool. It is a miniature pool, kind of like half a lane from a short swimming pool. Rooms are pretty plain but decent size. Bathroom is the best part, being big and with separate shower and bathtub. Free Wi-Fi, but parking is expensive and movies on TV are insanely expensive.

Very nice from outside and the staff was pleasant. Room was not what we expected for the price that was spent. Bed was totally uncomfortable, woke up feeling like someone had beat me with a bat and the wife was just as bad off when she woke up. Shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. I know not every hotel is a 5 star, but for the reviews it got it should have been an exceptional stay.

Amazing place. Nice view. Friendly staff. Surprisingly good service. Very comfortable room. The bathroom was a little cold because the heat did not reach it. However it was not enough to stain my staying. Flawless days. I do recommend the place.

This is a fairly upmarket hotel ideally located centrally on Cannery Row. Luxurious rooms well laid out; wonderful large bathroom with separate bath and shower. Beautiful views from the rooms overlooking Cannery row. The car parking is adjacent the hotel but you need to get a car park pass from reception. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we wanted to see as much of the area as we could, but it appeared quite expensive. Would love to return and stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon. The staff were polite and the room was nice. The shower floor, however, had not been cleaned and I wiped up 7 or 8 strands of hair before getting in since they were too long to rinse down the drain. I also found a few on the bathroom floor, however it was only 3 or 4 strands. Overall it was fairly nice, but I hope this one missed cleaning was a fluke, otherwise I would lower my rating. The rest of the experience was good.

Very nice hotel. Excellent service. Valet service available. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Our room was clean and very comfortable beds with a view on Cannery row. We were able to walk around without having to take out the car. Had a wonderful time. I would like to thank the whole staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience!

This hotel is located right at the heart of Monterey and Cannery Row, on the water, and within a 5 min walk to the Aquarium. Don't let the exterior (which looks like the rest of Monterey) fool you — this is a nice luxury hotel. The location is great providing most rooms with a view of the pacific ocean. Our room opened to the large outdoor balcony/patio area with a spectacular view of the ocean. The staff served us and accommodated us extremely well. We had catered breakfast, lunch and dinner on site which turned out to be great food. The patio was kept well heated with plenty of outdoor heaters, so we didn't feel the chill in the evening. Rooms were good sized and made a comfy stay.

We really love this hotel. Definitely better-than-expected. The rooms are really super clean as well as the hotel. They really do pay attention to the small details here. We had an ocean side view room and it was amazing. I would definitely suggest giving that for your next stay. The beds and the linens are some of the best. Everything is within walking distance. Definitely would stay here again.

This hotel is amazing! It’s start for getting into this very beautiful and so detail oriented hotel design. You are then greated by a very welcoming front desk stuff that go out of their way to make sure you have what ever you need. They helped us find dinner reservation made sure we liked our room and offer a different better one with no charge. The helped plan our route1 trip and did all of that with a smile! The room was very big with romantic view of the bay and a fireplace which was a great addition. The bath was big and clean! Overall this was one of the best hotel we stayed on route1. If you are looking for a great place with easy bay / aquarium and route17 this is the perfect place!

The room we stayed in had a beautiful view of the ocean, a fireplace and it was everything that I had expected and more. The room was nice, clean, and quiet (could not hear neighbors on either side! ). The only complaint from it being five stars would be that the pillows were too soft and there was no option of a firmer pillow. The bed itself was like sleeping on a cloud.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now, and each time has been great. The atmosphere and employees are warm and welcoming and very professional. The hotel is always clean and inviting and the rooms are beautiful and very homey feeling. I never care for hotels much, but this hotel is exceptional! The views are stunning, too!

It was a beautiful hotel, and located near many great attractions and dining places. We had an emergency in the middle of the night and they also addressed it quickly and promptly, getting us the help we needed. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again!

Me and my partner spent an evening in a Junior Suite at The Clement Monterey shorty after becoming engaged at Monterey Bay. The staff, service, location, facilities and quality of the hotel was absolutely stunning. They went the extra mile for us on the news of our engagement, and every member of staff were welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay. The food at the restaurant is superb, and the entertainment choice is sublime in the background. The general ambience of the hotel is great and you feel like you could spend forever staying there. Thorougly recommend to anybody looking for a perfect hotel in the area.

Stayed here for 3 days, two nights in 2009. Had reserved a basic room, however, when we arrived, they put us in a jr. Suite at the same rate. Staff was absolutely exceptional. Stunning views off our patio on the second floor. Would most certainly recommend and look forward to going back again some day.

A lovely high end hotel that is as clean as the day it opened. Each room is bright and fresh. The location is in the heart of Cannery Row, so amazing access to views, beaches, shops, dining and aquarium. The hotel restaurant serves a great burger and there is a lovely patio area taking in ocean views. Suggest you pay for valet parking at hotel for easy access to your car.

The staff was very accommodating and pleasant, the room was spacious and the bathroom had a shower and a separate tub. Overall it was a delight to stay at the Intercontinental, but there were a few things amiss that should be taken note of: Wi-Fi or Ethernet internet is $9.99/night, the pool is very narrow and short—not a lap pool in the slightest, and depending on the season can be extremely expensive, at which point its value would drop precipitously. To be fair, it's also a stone's throw from aquarium which was nice.

The Charming hotel was easy enough to get to. Follow the stream of cars towards the Monterey Bay Aquarium and you'll see The Clement next to Bubba Gump. Visitor/Overnight parking is offsite about 2 blocks away so I suggest valet. It is also a one way street down the road so don't miss the entrance. Staff was very friendly and offered their local picks for restaurants and things to see in the area. Rooms were clean and what your would expect from a 4 star hotel. Definitely would come back here on our next visit.

Expensive, but incredible. Definitely worth splurging for a room with a full ocean view (don't bother with partial-view rooms, you have to stand in a corner to see out! ). You can walk out the hotel right onto paths that go for miles along the coast in both directions. The sound of the ocean out your window and the incredible non-stop show of sea life will make you never want to leave. From the room, we almost always see otters, seals, whale spouts, and all sorts of birds, and sometimes dolphins too.

Service was great! Hotel is clean and very nice visually. Close to everything since it's on canary row. AC unit didn't cool room very well until it was running for 24 hours. Windows didn't have any screens which was a personal downside as wife is insect paranoid and we have a young toddler.

Every single employee we've interacted with had been pleasant and professional. Took a few minutes to get a drink at the bar as the bar tender was nowhere to be found (had to ask one of the waitresses). Otherwise, it's been a fantastic time. Well worth the money.

Great location on Cannery Row next to the water. Four-star helpful and friendly staff. Nice rooms, a good size, and stunning bathrooms. The large "reading room" near the lobby, with couches, easy chairs, tables, and fireplaces, and adjacent patio, with tables, heat lamps, fire pits, and views the water, both make nice places to bring takeout food to sit and eat. The gas heat lamp are hard to light; get help from the staff.

Excellent hotel overall. Location is ideal, right next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, in the heart of Cannery Row. Rooms are very nice, and the entire hotel feels very new. Self parking has reasonable rates, and also has 2 EV chargers. The C Restaurant is quite good (ate there for breakfast and dinner) with s spectacular ocean view. The is a tiny heated pool which isn't good for much besides playing with the kids.

Wonderful hotel, great rooms with ocean view and fireplace. Giving 4 stars because there is no breakfast. It's highly uncommon for a 4 star within the chain. We paid $50 per night to have breakfast included with the room, we learned when we came that it was a $50 gift certificate at the hotel restaurant. (They reimbursed the amount when asked)

Good hotel that has clean and spacious rooms. Wifi costs extra but the front desk will waive it if you are an IHG member so you should sign up if you have not already. There is also a VPN internet option for the same price as the regular internet connection if you are into that kind of thing which is a nice add. The staff is friendly and accommodating in all departments which is great. The only recommended changes I'd offer (which I understand probably will not happen as it is on the second floor) would be to expand the pool and fitness center as both are small. If you can, get an ocean front room because it the views are worth it.

I recently stayed there for an event at Laguna Seca. The last evening I placed my prized AMG racing helmet in the trunk while leaving my car at the valet. The next morning I had the bell hop put my bags in my trunk only to discover that the helmet was stolen when I took my bags out once I got home. The parking contractor and the hotel denied any liability although the AMG driving academy offered to replace the helmet for free. AMG gets it. The InterContinental has no clue how to address situations like this. I will not be staying at any of their properties going forward.

It was over priced for the facilities and services provided. There were a shortage of washcloths. 2 wash clothes for 4 guests. 1 soap. The room was offered to be cleaned at 4:50 on one of the days. This seems late. The hot tub was not hot. The service was slow. It was lack luster, despite the promising pics online. I was not impressed.

Overall this is a great hotel to stay. It was our first time in Monterey and obviously first time at this hotel. We chose this for a 1 night getaway for our 2nd marriage anniversary. Here is a breakdown of the review: The Good: 1 — Excellent location. Right at the waterfront and their patio is amazing for chatting up and having a few drinks! 2 — The hotel staff is exceptionally warm and nice and accommodating. They say yes to almost all of your requests! This is a rarity nowadays 3 — The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and have comfort thought out to the smallest possible detail! 4 — The location from the town perspective is awesome as it is right in the heart of Monterey (right next to the Monterey Aquarium). The Bad: 1 — The person who checked us in kind of was being sarcastic with us when I asked if we could get a free upgrade. I had heard about them being nice enough to upgrade you to better rooms, especially if it is the first time and if you have a special occasion that you are visiting for. I asked him if he could do anything for us in terms of an upgrade and he said, very sarcastically, "you mean upgrade you for free" and I said yeah that would be amazing. He obviously denied that. Anyway I didn't bother much and went on with my business. 2 — The bed sheets were littered with hair from previous guests I would assume. The pillow cover was ripped and had holes in it.

The usual Intercontinental hotel, meaning big rooms, excellent service, and pricey. If I had to mention a but — other than the price which after all is to be expected in this hotel brand — is that it's to business-y, and Monterey is anything but.

Lovely hotel! Great location right on the water and the cannery row. The hotel is very new and modern, nice contemporary decor. Large fitness room with new machines with built in TV.
