Lovely little hotel with an outdoor pool. The parking is free but the lot is a little tight if you happen to have an oversized vehicle. Keep in mind the pool is not heated and the weather here is often cooler than you might expect. I went to the beach near here in shorts and a tank top in mid June and froze my butt off because the warmest it got in our three days was 65°.

The rooms are nice! Don’t judge a book by its cover. Good working showers, nice temperature in the rooms and has an AC. A tv, fridge and microwave as well. Lots of lights and plug ins for your devices.

Our room was updated with a cute little balcony, close to shopping, beaches, and restaurants. Dog friendly and very friendly owners. Very good coffee in lobby. Breakfast would be a +, but there are a lot of places to eat nearby. This is not a HOTEL so if you are looking for luxury, (snobs) you need to go stay somewhere else.

Nice place to stay only thing I didn't like it doesn't have a coffee pot in the room… but room was clean and comfortable…

Nice place at a nice location with a good price. The funny thing is that when I arrive at the hotel at around 11, the reception was closed for some reason. They also failed to give the the wake-up call that I asked for. But the room was clean and the amenities seemed new.

Driven by this place for years. Rooms are nice inside, and the price was right. I would go back!

It looks a little rough but dont let that fool you the room was exactly what they pictured. Very nice and I would stay here again.

Stayed there for quite some time, Wonderful people, will stay there again, always clean and quiet.

Overall friendly staff, parking can get crowded on busy days, and VERY comfortable beds for the price. Only downside is the bathrooms lack any fan ventalation and the walls can feel thin with active neighboring guests. However, I'll keep staying here when I stop in the Monterey area.

The gentleman at the front desk was not welcoming at all! Couldn't do early check-in. Earliest check-in was at 2:30, but we would've had to pay $20. When we came back to check in after 3pm, we asked to get placed upstairs, he said there weren't any rooms available. We didn't believe that, because there were only 3/4 cars in the lot. We had to pay up front. When I paid with cash he gave me back my change like he was up to something. I also noticed he didn't offer my receipt. I asked for my receipt after counting my change, just to make sure I was correct on the total amount of my stay and also because I didn't need anyone accusing me of not paying. I did the math in my head, then I pulled out my calculator to double check my math & he surely did give me the wrong amount of change! I told him this and he did admit that he should've given $16 back. I strongly feel he tried cheating me. At this point, I'm worried about what the room was gonna be like. To my surprise, it really was renovated and I was just so happy that the room was decent. My boyfriend works in house keeping, so he did a dust inspection lol it's not that serious, but after how check-in was it was tough to trust the place. From what I can see, the room was nice & clean. Bed is stiff and bouncy, but we slept fine. The shower was powerful. Walls are thin. Overall, the renovation of the room was great, just had a huge problem with check-in.

My stay at the Magic Carpet Lodge went well, and in comparison to visits in previous years, the overall quality of the rooms has improved significantly. The rooms appear recently renovated, and I appreciate the simpler aspects of the visit. The table had seating for two, the room had a small balcony, plenty of outlets throughout the room, and the bed was rather nice. Honestly, at the price point, I feel that the location is the only down side. It not the most aesthetically pleasing location, but it is close to most tourist attractions.

The Magic Carpet Lodge is a nice, clean and quiet place. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly. The housekeeping staff is great! I have stayed there several times and will definitely visit again!

It said online that dogs were fine, but did not say it was extra payment.

To begin with the elevator is noisy and the telephone doesn't work. The TV only has about half the channels, and coffee is rationed to one package. The manager said that after we left they would fix everything and gave me one extra coffee with sugar. This place is NOT a bargain.

What a great place! Decent accommodations, and beats every price around it. Location is five minutes from the beach!

The room was clean and maintained. This is an inexpensive hotel, so don't expect the Hilton. It was comfortable and had all we needed for a couple day stay.

We walk in, there's paint on what looks like laminate grey wood floors. Smells like paint. Looks kinda put together in a very ghetto way. The pics online were very deceiving. The room looks nothing like the pic. The bathhroom door doesnt close and when we pushed it really hard to close, paint fell all over the floor from it being scraped off the door. Paid $120 for this room on a Tues nite and it was actually worth less than half what I paid.

Not at all like the pictures they post. They gave us the key and the room wasnt even ready yet, the pool, which was the main reason for us booking the room, was dirty and had pieces of plastic floating in it. The chairs were run down and it looked like they were working on it. The handle on the shower faucet came off because there was no screw holding it on. We had a coffe pot in the room, coffee but no cups. It looked as if they were in the middle of remodeling the place, construction materials everywhere and the feel of a half done project. Dont think this is a family worthy establishment. The pool was a real disappointment.

This is because Environment is dirty. There are no 24 hours reception. They close at 11pm. After 11pm outside is phone is located to call them. When I was taking bath some of water went out despite of the curtain showers was covered. Then few minutes later, the maintenance people knock door and I opened it. They told that the water went down somebody bathroom which was leaking around the lights. This means they have leakage problem. Also the balcony was little bit dirty and phone was not working at all. No break fast in the morning.

Had a awesome stay The friendliest and kindest staff at our whole time in the states. The rooms are clean and big, the beds are very comfortable. I would definitely recommend it all the time. Seems like they done a kind of renovation because inside it looks way better as from the outside. The price value was pretty good too.

Pool has leaves and a plastic bag in it, I would not go in there ;-) Wi-Fi did not work until we complained. staff is nice, rooms are ok (well mine had a snickers paper left over but otherwise clean, also, leaky faucet). location is okay. A little noisy (cars) but not too bad. electricity is weird (some plugs only work when there's activity in the outside corridor! )

Very budget friendly, looks like apartment complex turned motel. Nothing special about the rooms, everything is old but not run down and dirty. I can hear the ppl upstairs through the vents as if they're in my room. My walls are rattling as ppl walk and close doors. Location is in decent area, not many bad areas in this part of CA anyway. Close to beach. Front desk staff were pretty cool. Signs posted to save water but tub faucet leaks lots of water during shower. This place needs a simple remodeling and changing of faucets. Breakfast was good for a motel. I guess I haven't learned my lesson to refrain from motels as noise is my number one complaint.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Seaside and found this quaint little hotel the Magic Carpet Lodge. I was delighted when they put me in a room that a a sliding door that went straight out to their outdoor swimming pool. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The pool is surrounded by pleasant shrubs and the landscaping around the hotel is nice as well. The lady at the front desk was kind enough to bring me a fan, since there was no air conditioning in the room I was staying in. The room I was in looked remodeled, so I imagine they have done some upgrading. They are no longer the Best Western, but the Magic Carpet Lodge. I had a great time, and the staff was very friendly. The Wi-Fi on a really windy day seemed to fade in and out, but the gentlemen who works there was very quick to get it fixed and back up and running. I would recommend anyone who would like a nice clean, affordable hotel to check this one out.

We were in Monterey for the weekend for a wine festival and were looking for a reasonable place to stay. A lot of our first choices in our price range were booked thus how we landed at this motel via Priceline. For the price we paid, it was to be expected. But this is hands down the worst quality Best Western we've ever seen much less stayed in. The motel is your basic motel, clean and maintained relatively well. The building though is clearly old and would be hard to modernize even with the most creative architect and designer. The surrounding area is comprised of strip malls, strip malls and some seedy cars. But only took 8-10 mins to get to the outskirts of Monterey, so that's good.
