Here's why I'm giving this only two stars: My daughter and I stopped in here to get some lunch last Sunday, the valet jumped in front of us at the reception desk to ask the wait time for a party of four and he was told 15-20 minutes. We told her that there were two of us and she told us 35-40 minutes. Then we were told that we could order food from the outside oyster bar so, that's what we did. We wanted to try the garlic truffle fries but were told that we could not get those from outside so we tried to go inside again and were then pushed back out. The valet who parked our car was very nice the soup and salad were tasty but very small for the price and the service staff sucked.

Very nice place to just stop and grab a drink. I drive there a lot with my biker friends and we love the view and all the nice people there. There is inside and outside seating. A bar with some very nice people. When its hot out everywhere this is a nice place to just cool off. So nice cant wait to go there again.

Great Service. Great food, but pricey. Great view and ambience. Have your smart phone with you to access your parking attendant, as you need to use an app to request your vehicle.

We decided to escape the heat inland and came out to Nick's Cove about 5 on Saturday night. We really wanted to sit outside and although they did not have table service out there, they did let us order at the bar and bring it out. The staff was exceedingly pleasant and the oysters and Chardonnay were fabulous! We decided we were still hungry and had crab cakes afterwards but I did not get a picture of that but they were delicious as well! I highly recommend this place!

Good food with outdoor dining. It was a perfect West Marin day for us. After lunch we had a couple of drinks at the Boat Shack. My wife and I recommend the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned, done very well here.

Cool spot! Just had a fantastic luch. The fish and chips were outstanding. Fresh! The truffle garlic fries were a great pairing to the fish and chips. We shared a calamari fristo and crab cakes. Both were fresh and prepared perfectly. The view from the dining room is the icing on the cake.

We went for a mid day meal so the food choices were limited. Portion size was generous, price was on higher side too. Taste was just ok. The views are awesome though. It did get a bit cold on the deck so we had to move inside. May be if they had heaters would have been great. Staff was very polite.

I would not recommend this place if your goal is to get local seafood of quality. Most of the seafood is not at all local and my order of the ciopino had muscles that had a horrible taste like they had turned. When I told the staff about the muscles I was told they reviewed the isue by examining the muscles and determining they were good. I found this hilarious because I have been collecting my own muscles and eating muscles for decades and when the muscle starts to turn it does not necessarily have any visible signs, particularly after being cooked. I would only recommend the local oysters at this restaurant or perhaps one of the other local seafood places might have more local stuff that is fresh.

Always worth the trip. Their food is great and has never disappointed. Plenty of options including great fresh seafood. The view alone would be worth it.

Awesome atmosphere! Very knowledgeable staff! Excellent dining experience! We were there when they had a 3 piece jazz band. It was the perfect evening! So chill and relaxing!

Fantastic bbq oysters. Relaxing views. Good service. Challenging parking at times. Hey we can’t have it all but this place is darn good and worth the trip every time. Oh try the clam chowder too.

The view of the bay was stunning. The tostadas were great and service was awesome. The boat house had a table and chairs inside and outside. It was busy so we waited to be seated for about 45 minutes. The oysters were tiny but they were delicious. The bbq ones were the best!

I took my wife here for her birthday last year and we really had a good time. Nick's Cove is a treasure while exploring Tomales Bay. First off the Bloody Mary is fantastic and the food is really good if not the healthiest thing for you. I recommend the fish and chips. I tried the tuna melt and it was delicious. The hand-cut french fries are also quite good. The atmosphere is unique with beautiful views of the bay. There is a little boat house that you can walk out to along a wooden dock and take pictures of the surrounding waters. The staff were quite friendly and attentive. All in all it was a positive experience and I brought my wife back for her birthday this year! A great place to stop for lunch or dinner if you're passing through the area. Valet parking is free by the way so just pull up, hop out and enjoy your meal!

Service was great from the start with free vallet parking. Seated quickly with our reservation and the food was delicious! I recommend the salmon for sure. Very tolerant of our 4 year old as well which was nice from a classy place like this. Thanks for a great meal, I'll be by again when I'm in the area next.

Unique hideaway. Try a cabin on the water with a fire and a good book to leave the city and cares behind. Room service great too. We bring wine and snacks. Fresh seafood next door. The cabins are looking tired and in need of updating but still a great place out in the middle of nowhere to escape.

Absolutely the quintessential Californian North coast dining experience. Excellent seafood, cocktails, and local craft beer. The bacon baked oysters were delicious and the Dungeness crab Benedict outstanding. The views of Tomales Bay are lovely. Very highly recommended.

Amazing fish and chips made from lagunitas IPA. It's kind of bitter but in a good way. The local oysters are a must. The sausage in a bun its just perfect. Lovely water views and nice atmosphere.

Been here several times and it's wonderful every time. The food is always delicious and the staff is wonderful. Strongly recommend the Mac and Cheese for starters and the scallops for dinner. A dinner you will not regret. It is advisable that you have a designated driver it Uber if you're going to enjoy every one of their wonderful cocktails because the roads are very windy and it is always better to be safe.

Fab destination restaurant. Good food. Good cocktails. Good service. Dog friendly deck.

We came in in our not dry kayaking gear, the staff were nice enough to serve us while being very polite, despite the well dressedness and cleanliness of the folks inside.

Just what we were looking for. Amazing BBQ'd oysters. Great selection of beer and amazing atmosphere on Tomales Bay. Staff was friendly and fantastic. Even allowed dogs on the deck outside. A+++

Very welcoming! Relaxed, comfortable and fully hosted. Staff all eager to please and always smiling. Food delicious! A simple cheese burger would be a nice addition. Breakfast was brought to out room and was delicious! Operational wood stove, heated bathroom floors and an amazing shower. All in all it was a terrific stay. Thank you all!

Fantastic oysters. The rest of what we ate was nothing special, but I will visit Nick's Cove again to only eat their oysters. Beautiful surroundings.

I only went for drinks. I really liked my drink (naked lady) and my friends got some yummy cocktails as well. However, the hostess wouldn't let us sit down. Instead, we did something even better — we took our drinks out to the boathouse. I would highly recommend doing that.

My colleagues and I went to Nick's Cove for dinner before a bioluminescence kayak tour with Point Reyes Outdoor. We also stayed the night at Nick's Cove after the kayak tour ended which was super convenient so we didn't have to drive back to SF in the dark late at night. Overall, great location for the stay, food was good and people were friendly. The large king sized bed was also very comfortable.

Our food was fresh and delicious. Oysters and calm chowder with a couple of beers. Perfect snack along Highway 1.

Nick's Cove is amazing — we love the house made cocktails each time we visit and are always excited to see what the bartenders have created. They are very talented and you won't be disappointed if you stop here for eats and drinks. The food is super tasty and the location is an ideal spot on our way back to Bodega Bay. The atmosphere is sophisticated but it laid back at the same time, this is a must do every time we're in the area!

BEAUTIFUL location, and food oysters, full bar. Beautiful views and kyaking available next door. Doesn't get any more romantic. The place had a Pier that allows you to walk to end of Pier. You can see the Western Mountain terrain of Tomales Bay.

I randomly stopped at Nick's Cove while driving down Highway 1. The weather was perfect and the location was stunning. We sat outside and had a nice seafood lunch before continuing on our way. I would have given 5 stars, but it was busy so the meal took a while and items were a bit pricey.

We came here for drinks outside after having oysters at Hog Island. There is a cozy shack located on the walkway with tables and chairs. You can order food and drinks at the bar inside and then they will call a phone in the shack to let you know the order is ready so you can grab it. It was a wonderful way to chill with some friends while enjoying the view of the beautiful bay. A heads up this area can get pretty windy though so not a bad idea to layer up!

Good spot in Marshall (Nick's Cove) for Oysters, beer and good food. The menu is pretty good and has several delicious seafood choices. They have a good selection of beers on tap as well as wine and a full bar. There are TV's to catch the game or you can sit along the window and enjoy the views of the bay. Reasonable prices but FYI your phone will most likely not work.

Service was good but a little slow. Food was fantastic! Truffled Garlic Fries were the best I've ever had. Crab Mac and Cheese was also amazing. I'd go back and I'd also recommend it to friends. Great views also.

Wonderful lunch stop after a visit to Point Reyes Seashore. Vintage 1930s space with totally modern menu — note the croft eggs, avocado and wild arugula. Loved the barbecue oysters and Dungeness Crab Benedict. Great list of cocktails, wine and beer.

A great old style roadhouse with a pleasant view of the bay and fault line. Food was better than good. Service great.

We enjoyed the food and hospitality of the staff while attending a wedding this weekend. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious. The location is away from modern civilization but sometimes that's just what you need. This is a great spot to get away too.

My favorite place to eat on the coast. Great food, atmosphere, and service. The views are amazing too. Highly recommend staying the night in one of their cottages too.

I went to Nicks for a birthday lunch with friends. Overall it was a great experience! The food was tasty, the service wonderful. Special thanks to our server for helping us surprise the birthday boy with a dessert + candle and song.

Food was tasty, but the restaurant was extremely casual and the prices did not match the ambiance at all. The oysters were about the same price as Hog Island, but were a fraction of the size. They were still delicious, but I would've expected larger ones based on the price. We had to wait 20 minutes on a Saturday even though we had a reservation.

Great place for dinner if you're staying in the area or passing nearby. Views are fantastic. Food was good and service was friendly.

The boat shack and staff make the trek out here worth it! Hope for clear skies and the sunset will be remarkable.

I am not good with words but I do know this. I have never had clam chowder that was that good, ever! it was lacking salt which I never added because you could actually taste every ingredient in it. My wife's fish and chips was cooked to perfection also, the flavor and texture were perfection. The starter bread with their butter with sea salt sprinkled on top were good but then dip that in their company made (believe that's what he told us, sorry if wrong) hot sauce (not hot but flavorful) and it was awesome. We will be back. I am a very picky eater who does not care for sea food but have a handful of things I like and they did that one justice. Thank you.

Entirely overrated. Good service. Nice view off deck but no shade. But sigh… Soggy, oily fish n chips ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE in a fish place.

Come here for the view and the boathouse sitting out over the water with a drink and some food is awesome. In the boathouse is a fireplace and a phone. You can order food and drinks to enjoy out in the boathouse. The selection of food is great bit its a tad overpriced and average at best.

Excellent service and outstanding food. Definitely top notch. Courtney, our hostess, made great wine and entree recommendations. Not a place to missed when staying in the area.

Nice restaurant with good service. My wife enjoyed her oyster platter but the price was overpriced due to some "babies" oysters! My burger was OK due to a quality of meat OK, I was expecting a little bit more because of the home buns.

Took a July Fourth drive up the coast with my Babe and saw Nick's. We pulled off the road to enjoy the scenery — very nice! Nick's had a certain gravity that pulled us into the restaurant. Such a great atmosphere, excellent mixologists and food. . The food was great! Be sure and take a walk to the end of the pier. When it's not busy, they deliver food and there's a great view of the harbor. Nick's Rocks.

Absolutely delightful destination for a lovely drive to the coast. We ate at Nicks in January 2014 and had the freshest seafood I can remember in ages. It was balanced by a generous serving of veggies so that I didn't feel sinful after my meal. I had a crab louie and the chef made me a dairy free louie dressing that was delicious. My salad had a generous mound of super fresh dungeness crab with big hunks of meat. My husband had fried oysters and crab cakes both served with a lovely arugula and shaved fennel salad. There was NO filler in the crab cakes and they were the best I've ever had. The oysters were delicious and fresh too and there was NO rancid frying oil which often spoils the subtle flavors of fried seafood. They had a lovely selection of really great local wines, some of the best-of-the-best and all were well priced. The staff were sincerely friendly and the view, well that's why we went in the first place. We had not been to Nicks since the new owners took over and I have to say "well done". We'll be back.

Oh, Nick's Cove. How shall I rate you? I've been meaning to come here for the past two years and only made it up here a couple of weeks ago. We came here for an early dinner after some oyster shucking at Tomales Bay. What can I say, I like my seafood. Despite being tucked away in the windy corners of Highway 1, Nick's Cove remains a destination for locals and travelers, and for good reason. For the most part, the food here is fresh, flavorful, and generally creative. However, I couldn't give it a 4-star rating because of a couple of big errors: 1) I found a piece of sponge thing in my cauliflower, 2) everything was overly salted, 3) every dish was really heavy on top of the salt. My favorite of the night was definitely the clam chowder. That was near perfect. "Near" because I don't like salted pork bits unlike the rest of the universe. But if you like bacon, you'll love this chowder. It was chunky and flavorful, and not too heavy. Great for a starter! I got the scallops as an entree and was generally impressed. Other than the fact that it was very greasy and salty, the flavors were great and the scallops were cooked perfectly. I also liked the bed of barley (if it weren't for the fact that it was very buttery and very salty). The halibut entree was okay. One part of the fish was cooked perfectly, but the other half got overcooked. So maybe their stove had uneven temperature. But still. It's a big sin to overcook fish in my book.

The boathouse out back is potentially a well kept secret, with a wood stove and nice views it's a fun little area if you have it to yourself. They don't always have service out there, but they will give you a tray and you can take your food out yourself. The staff is friendly, helpful, and they quickly make themselves available. However the food is very unimpressive. It provided sustenance and little else. We had the veal sliders, which were very much like beef meatballs and the Rock Cod and chips. Both were served generous portions of American style thin cut french fries, twice baked/crispy as some prefer. I'd grab a few drinks here or in the boathouse but I'd enjoy lighting Benjamin Franklin on fire more than eating here again by a substantial margin — I'm not likely to do either.
