The entire staff was excellent. Each individual member of the valet team, front lobby desk, banquet services, security personnel, and even the cleaning crew was more than willing to help with anything we needed for our corporate event. I've been helping to host Ringler's annual event for more than 10 years, visiting the Fashion Island Hotel, the Balboa Bay Club, the Hotel Del Coronado, and back to Fashion Island Hotel again, and I can honestly say Fashion Island Hotel is the best of them all! I would like to personally thank Shun from the front lobby desk and Louis from security for going above and beyond by helping my colleagues and I one night and guiding us through the hotel, and to each of our respective rooms to ensure that everyone stayed safe and was well taken care of. You both deserve tons of credit for that. Thank you!

I just waited 50 minutes to get my car from the valet! That is beyond absurd.

My husband and I Celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary We stayed in a corner suite the view was beautiful, we had two balconies looking over the ocean, pool and golf course. The hotel overall was quiet, clean and customer service was second to none. The island club so nice my husband and I enjoyed it, the ladies knew us by our names. I will most definitely be coming back.

Everything is so pretty there since you walk in it’s just stunning the pool, the market, the lounge and the room is perfect it has everything you might need they even have cribs for babies at no extra cost. The only down side is the loud music from their night club we were on the 14th floor and we could still hear it.

We love Island, we stay regularly. We also love the Island Club level. Our 8 and 9 yo boys also loved the hotel. The service was great, and room service was really fast (20-25 min). We had the Newport flat, it was fantastic. We can’t wait to go back!

Love this happy hour but the service is lacking. They need more servers. Because they lack in waitresses they are to busy to properly attend their tables and bus the tables of excess glasses and plates and ask for more drinks. Constantly asking for service from waitresses who have too many tables. We had to move all our used glasses and dishes to another table. Other than that great prices and happy hour food and atmosphere!

Excellent service, thank you for making our stay so enjoyable poolside. Javad took a situation of lemons and made sweet lemonade with his attention to every detail above and beyond any call of duty. (He gave priority to the four of us as resort guests, amen to that. ) We visit about four times per year and now we undoubtedly know why we enjoy staying here. Thank you, Javad… and to your entire hospitality staff that is second to none in a world where service seems nearly extinct!

Expensive but worth it. Great customer service nice pool. Room service fast and easy food is fresh! I wish I could give more than five stars! We happened to be celebrating my daughter's 13 birthday during our trip. I mentioned I'd like a piece of cake to come to our room. Look! Above and beyond for the staff! Great location for an overnight. Shopping and mall within walking distance. Great for a one person stay. Tend to cater to business professionals. My family and I choose the Renaissance Fremont Newport Beach for extended stay as we experienced them as more family friendly and kid safe.

We enjoyed the hotels location. It was great to be walking distance to Fashion Island. Our room had a nice view of the ocean and the private golf course. Although you can't walk to the beach it's very easy to drive there and enjoy the surf and the sand. The pool was crowded but felt homey with a family friendly environment. The kids enjoyed the ping ping table right off of the pool.

The quilt is very comfortable. Public areas are awesome. Parking fee is too expensive: $35 per day and I can’t park my car by myself, so every time I need use my car I had to wait for about 5 to 8 minuets and give the guy tips. Restroom is big and there is a stool. Room802 one bed, and it is so small. 2017 is great. Two beds room.

Luxury resort… this hotel defines the image of 5 Star, coastal elegant ambiance plus the caring service could become addicting! We booked the corner ocean view two room suite for a girls weekend, extensive spa services, lounge & club disco and great dining. The total experience did not disappoint. Thanks to all the staff for creating an incredible experience for us. We’ll be returning soon.

The location is great if you're in Newport to shop at Fashion Island. It's right across from the mall so it's a convenient location. The room is spacious and neat, and the bathroom is especially nice. Breakfast at the Oak Grill, which is the restaurant at the hotel, was good as well.

The bar and restaurant has a real sophisticated aura about it. The bartenders know a thing or two and will serve you a refreshing beverage with a smile. The food was pleasing and the wait staff very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel. Their little snack shop had lots to choose from including some gluten free treats which was nice since I usually have a hard time finding anything I want to or can eat in those. The room was great. Very close to good shopping.

I unfortunately didn't have the experience that I was hoping for. I was excited to stay at an up-scale hotel but the service was not what I expected. I was here the first week in May. Weather: 70-80s Big bathroom with great water pressure King bed was comfortable with large room I went down to the Spa and no one was there to help me. Waited a little over 5 minutes for someone to appear. Oak grill has great food — Service lacked. I was asked one time how my food was. (it was excellent) My table was cleared for almost 10 minutes and she never asked me if I wanted dessert. (I totally did) She just brought the check. Nice outdoor fire with music — service was lacking. Everyone around me was being served but me. After 20 minutes of waiting I left. They have complimentary drop off/pick up service Friday & Saturday nights within a four mile range. Lots of extra fees not included in the nightly room rate. They hold an extra $100 per night for incidentals. Valet parking only with extra $35 per night.

A excellent experience. The staff was extremely kind, a very well-managed hotel. Extremely clean. They have very good food. They have Island Public Wi-Fi. The restrooms are super cool. They smell nice, etc. Explore around. Amazing place! Don't miss out!

My wife and I spent our wedding night here six years ago and the staff there took amazing care of us as well as our our friends and family who also stayed there. We decided to come back to celebrate our anniversary this past weekend and once again, we had a 5 star experience. The beds may be the most comfortable we've ever slept in. And the gentleman who checked us in at the front desk, Chance, was incredibly kind and deserves kudos for taking extra great care of us. Thank you! We'll be back…

The experience: Good location and walking distance to food and shopping. Hotel staff are friendly and very helpful, lobby bar has parties at night with a DJ and poolside bar fun to hang out in the evenings.

This is a wonderfully appointed Hotel. The service is spectacular. The food is tasty and well-done. It's not far from Fashion Island for an out-of-this-world shopping spree.

Very pleasant hotel with comfortable rooms and good other facilities. The staff at breakfast were lovely. The only downside is that there is no self parking and valet parking which is the only option is a whopping $35 a day!

Those who help those staying at the hotel became the assholes and ignored a gentleman in a wheelchair…

Great Hotel. Great location. Able to walk to the mall for food and 5 min. Drive to Balboa Island. Had a great time. Awesome ocean view from the room with a small balcony.

We ate at the Oak Grill. Good food and nice environment. However, I am a vegetarian and the options are not there. I had a salad. I probably won't be making a second visit unless it's just for drinks. $$$

Always a great place to smoke cigars, enjoy the happy hour (good food and good prices). Nice fire pit, live music, free Wi-Fi. Did I mention that they allow cigar smoking? Friendly and attentive staff, as well. They're open late too.

Updated Review: I had previously given 4 stars for the uncomfortable pillows but I'm updating my review to 1 star. I stayed at the hotel from December 3 to 7. When I checked in, I was told by the Front Desk person that my room comes with $5 complimentary daily credit to be used at the mini mart. So I spent about $6 every day, putting $5 on my room and paying cash for the remaining balance. After checking out, I saw that the hotel charged me $28.03 on my credit card. I called the hotel at least 5 times and left a message just to understand what the charge is about but never got a response. I don't mind the charge if it's justifiable so I just want to know what it is for. You have my number and email so call me back and I will change my review back to 4 stars. First review: Hotel is nice but my only complaint is that the pillows are too thick and hard. My queen bed had 4 pillows and they all had the same size. Instead, I wish 2 are smaller for people who prefer lesser elevation.

My family and I have been going to the Island Hotel before it was even called that, every Christmas for about two decades now. The location is perfect to do our last bits of Christmas shopping at fashion island, the spa is wonderful, and the views are fantastic. That said, our favorite part of staying at the Island Hotel is their breakfast. The service at their restaurant is impeccable, and the food is always fantastic, particularly at breakfast. Ask if you can sit in Carlos's section, he's the best, though all of them are wonderful.

The review is for the meeting space/meals only*. The staff is very helpful, I’ve had a few meetings here and everything has worked out very well. The food has always been great, not your typical hotel meeting food. We’ve had everything from open bar, passed appetizers with carving stations to breakfast and lunch buffets. Great location next to Fashion Island.

I received excellent service from all hotel staff I came in contact with during my stay. Because the room I requested was not ready I was upgraded to a beautiful suite with wonderful ocean and pool views. The hotel grounds were well manicured and maintained.

Excellent Hotel with Bar none service! I highly recommend everyone to stay here while visiting OC or staycation. Staff is wonderfully accommodating n great service. The views are to die for. Love the menu from Oak Grill n ambiance of the patio and lounges. I’ll keep coming back!

The Island Hotel is so good to our family every year. The staff are all lovely. It's glam and cozy all at the same time. Can't wait to stay again. I also have to note that when my three year old was throwing a tantrum, a nice young man named Andrew that works in the hotel dropped off a little dolphin for her in the hall which she ended up being very happy with. Thank you again!

My husband and I had Sunday Brunch at the Oak Grill in Island Hotel. The outdoor patio was beautiful! It was extremely relaxing to sit out there and pair that with delicious food, it made for an awesome memory. Both of us had the chia seed breakfast bowl with a side of bacon and everything was delicious! Even my husband was impressed at the way the bacon was crispy yet thick. A wonderful bonus I enjoyed was that they can make cappuccinos and lattes with almond milk! Most restaurants only have soy milk as an alternative. I would definitely return!

Super nice hotel and superb service. The food is delicious and the bar is newly remodeled and nice. The property is really nice and the pool area is the best part. Nice big pool with plenty of cabanas and places to sit. Poolside service was really good and the hot tub was really cool, had a fountain in the middle of it.

It is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are nice. No great views though as the best you can hope for is overlooking fashion island. The food is great. AQUA has an amazing happy hour.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for a little weekend getaway and it was amazing! The hot tub is probably the nicest hot tub I've ever seen at a hotel, the fountain in the middle of it adds such a nice touch. The showers were amazing and the robes are sooo comfy!

Loved our stay at the hotel. Staff was wonderful and made our wedding stay feel lovely. Loved sitting in the jacuzzi which was isolated and the beautiful pool. Had the best night's sleep in weeks. Felt rested when I woke up. Breakfast room service arrived promptly. Best trip in a long time!

The Island Hotel is the hotel of choice for me when staying in Newport Beach. The proximity to shops, beach and the airport are second to none. The view is exceptional, only surpassed by the staff and their desire to provide the ultimate experience. Which they did is spades. The Island Club is my favorite way to enjoy the evening after work. I recommend you use this feature! Thank you Island Hotel for a 5-star experience.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby with an open floor plan; and a feeling of home. The room was exquisitely decorated in sunny palates. The room size was average. We visited the hotel for a girls’ spa weekend. The massage was fantastic and customer service superb. The spa is small with a steam room only and aroma therapy showers. The spa’s waiting area was comfortable and we were served champagne with frozen grapes after spa service. The hotel restaurant was gorgeous but we did not stay as the energy was a bit off. All in all a great experience.

Had drinks outside the bar area. The patio was small but we were able to put 2 tables and some chairs together so we could all sit together. The staff was great! Taco Tuesday and happy hour special were on point. There was a margarita bar outside with a bartender that knew what he was doing. He suggested some crazy concoctions that really worked. Blackberry and jalapeno margarita! Seriously, try it! I'd definitely go back for happy hour and taco Tuesday.

I think this, is one of the best hotels in South Orange County. The service is excellent and all staff are very gracious. I was actually there to visit with my sister. I found the place very neat, clean and organized. It is pricey but worth it. :-). Highly recommend anyone wanting a starvation to book a package and just hangout there. They have nice Club upgrades and a heated swimming pool. Really relaxing.

I stayed there for my companys Christmas party and have to say it was nice and enjoyable experience. The staff was very polite and professional. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

We went with a Group On deal, but were treated first class. The staff was friendly and amazing. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Our room was a nice size with a great view and a comfy bed. We'll be back for sure.

I stayed at The Island for 10 days while working at the bank next door. Everything about our stay was perfect, highlights including the room service burger and sitting by the outdoor fire at sunset enjoying a drink. Prices are OK with good deals to be found online. I was able to extend my stay by one day at the online rate. The gym and the restaurant are all fantastic and all the staff are attentive and helpful. My only issue was with the air conditioner that I couldn't seem to turn off and a mini bar that wasn't stocked, but I am sure the hotel would have fixed both had I bothered to complain. Free internet was great. Parking is expensive at $32 per day, especially when parking next door at Fashion Island is free. I will stay here again and recommend it to everyone, The Island is an excellent hotel.

Although the response rate for housekeeping and room service has improved, the overall experience has declined. The restroom downstairs by the restaurant had litter all over the floor and the paper was almost completely out. The staff member who answered for room service in the middle of the night was somewhat curt. The staff in general seems to have made quite a turnover, with a large amount of inexperienced replacements. There are still a few seasoned members who are great.

I am staying here currently for a wedding. The hotel is really beautiful inside and the rooms are very well appointed (beautiful spacious bathroom). Overall the staff have been extremely pleasant with the exception of our breakfast waitperson who brought us the bill pretty much before we were done eating (felt rushed to leave even though there were several tables open at the time). The food has been great. Nice happy hour. Really beautiful patio for dining and great pool area complete with bar and waitstaff. Nice location for walking to shopping and restaurants but not close to water (you can kind of see it from the building but you'd really need to drive to any beach/marina area). The hotel seems to have a club/dj at night but we're traveling with a baby so that's not our scene.

From beginning to end our day at this hotel was full of problems. Highlights included: Messing up our appt times at the spa, the Valet losing the car for an hour and a half and waking up the following morning to $165.00 worth of unauthorized charges made to my credit card and still waiting for a manager to call me back to fix the problem. We purchased the travelzoo voucher and attempted to organize a spa day for two of our friend's birthdays. After three calls we had secured the five appts and thought that we had gotten past the hardest part. First appt shows up and they have the appt time wrong. My friend says that she will just come back another day to get the massage because we are meeting at Oak Grill for lunch at a specified time. Even though it is their mistake they tell her that if she does not keep the incorrect appt. Time they will still mark the voucher as used and she will lose the $99.00. I call to discuss and the spa employee tells me that she will just go with what I "heard" instead of the actual appt. Time. Fine, she gets in about 15 min late and has to be late for lunch. Then we have lunch at Oak Grill. Nothing like begging and pleading with your server to come back to your table and sitting in the hot sun with no water or drink refills. Plus they asked when I made reservations if we were celebrating anything special and I told them two birthdays. They didn't say so much as a Happy Birthday and didn't acknowledge it at all.

Unfortunately, just too many mistakes and the first was not being honest and upfront about the Hotel Incidental fee that is over $150. I usually start everyone out at five stars and go from there. While getting a nice email to greet me was a nice touch it pretty much fell from there and trust me they had the five stars because all they had to do was follow thru and impress me. First misstep. Pretty basic my room wasn't ready. A simple task of calling me and letting me know so I don't rush over at 3PM the agreed time I made with the Concierge who emailed me and asked when I would be there. Second misstep. Not disclosing the incidental fee and then passing it off as to cover for drinks or using the shampoo. I highly doubt that a can of soda cost over $100. Third misstep. Not taking the opportunity to show me the hotel while my room was being made. Really it could have been a better option to offer me a short history of the hotel instead I was frustrated and walked away Fourth misstep. Why didn't you put my bags in my room? It is called customer service it is a BASIC step and considering where my room was. Really just a basic thing and yet you could not do that. Fifth misstep. How much to park there? Really that is twice the amount of the parking garage next to you. So what do they get three stars for? Honestly I just feel sorry for them because there is Way more missteps like the pool boy moving a chaise lounge away from me for NO APPARENT reason.

I was just attending a conference today, and do not stay in the hotel, so I am not in a position to rate the hotel room stay. However, I was very disappointed of the the valet parking service. I understood the hotel is under construction, all cars must be valet parked. I did not mind the long wait; but when my car was brought over, I noticed a big long scratch on the front bumper which definitely was not there this morning when I entrusted my car to the attendance. I was surprised nothing was mentioned to me. I touched the scratch and wondered if I should say something to someone, because I didn't know if this happened in the morning or when the car was retrieved. Well, I swallowed my disappointment, gave the tip, drove away, but now I feel upset and I want the hotel management take actions to reinforce the importance of good and reliable services.

No pool, terrible food, flat screen TV with out a digital signal, construction noise, dishonest employees handling credit card info. Worst ever in 20 years of business travel.

While attending a sales conference earlier this week I was booked to stay at the hotel that the event was held at. As a hotel in Newport Beach would be expected to be, its a gorgeous facility. What truly set me back and inspired me to take a moment to share was the incredible customer service we received from EVERYONE while there. The first day I went for a run with my boss, no not a forced run, and as we walked back to the door of the Hotel the valet out front immediately offered us both a bottle of water! Cool touch. Each of the staff members I encountered had a genuine smile and something nice to say as well. The capper was when the valet had the car pulled up as we readied to head out he noticed a crumpled paper in the map pocket of the drivers door he held open, reached down and grabbed it saying he would be happy to take care of the trash and then asked if we needed any driving directions to our destination! Attention to detail was demonstrated throughout and I will definitely book a stay there again once the new restaurant is completed! Great job by everyone at the Island Hotel Newport Beach :).
