Great hotel right across the street from Fashion Island. The restaurant and bar and fantastic and the pool area is warm and cozy. The fire pits are an extra bonus. Many rooms and an ocean view as well as a golf course view.

Entire staff was brilliantly helpful. Great venue for our company training as well as could see it being a beautiful spot for a wedding, anniversary parties, etc.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Every everything you would expect from a high-end Marriott property. The staff was very friendly and welcoming the room was Immaculate and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. We ordered room service for dinner and breakfast both times it was done fast and exactly the way we ordered it. The hotel is located near Fashion Island and other shopping centers in a beautiful part of Newport beach I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing property! Great for events (which is why I was there) but I could also see staying for a family vacation too. Rooms are well appointed & clean and the grounds are kept clean as well. And so close to the mall, the airport, and the beach.

This location was really nice. It was directly across from Fashion Island Mall and we received two coupons for $15 off of massages. The room was very small but the pool was located right outside of our room. The main pool has two bars, outdoor games and live music. It was nice for an overnight stay considering I live about 40 minutes away.

I really try to give hotels the opportunity to impress me. I’m traveling with my 5-year old so we booked 2 rooms to allow us to have some time to ourselves once she fell asleep. T-minus 3 days to arrival — Called front desk to request 2 adjoining rooms. They noted the request but said to call back closer to our arrival. Day before arrival — Called to request adjoining rooms. Again, it was noted but couldn’t confirm till our arrival date. I told them our flight would be getting in very late so we wouldn’t be there till 10pm. Day of arrival — Our flight is delayed so while sitting on the plane, I call again. Please reserve 2 adjoining rooms. At this point the Marriott mobile app has checked me in and sent me a mobile key. My assumption is that, if you’ve already given me a room, and I call, you’ve given me an adjoining room. So that isn’t the case. We arrive at 12:30am exhausted. Guess what. No adjoining rooms, not even the same floor. I get the keys, go to the room, keys don’t work. Go back to the lobby, get another set of keys, again they don’t work. Third time would be he charm. Not so. Lock smith comes by, has to fix the lock. By now, I’ve got an exhausted 5 year old. Then there is the room. The carpets are sticky so when you walk on them, your shoes stick. There is also white paint and other bits of stuff on the floor. I’m a Gold Elite Marriott Member and this is what I end up with at a 4-star hotel?!

My stay here at this particular Marriott was not all good and not all bad! the rooms were clean well kept and fully stock, had no problem there. staff was friendly helpful and I was set up with my room pretty quick. the only thing that actually bother me was room service, I'm not sure if they were short staff that night but it took roughly 1 hour to get room service, all I wanted was some ice and it took 1 hour for them to bring to my room and by the time it was brought to me it was half way melted! the guy apologize & did not want to take a tip from me, he was polite and I felt a bit bad for being an ass. Yet I still think they could of let me know that they were short staff or out of ice or whatever it was. I would of understand. But they just ignored me ad made me wait. So I gotta say the good and the bad.

Had a lovely room with a view. The bar is a bit dark, but good selections. Service was great. Food was surpsingly unmarriott (and I do a lot of conferences at marriott). The four stars is because the design of the property is a bit convoluted after the expansion. Self-parking is a hike. The path was blocked when I left, so I had to wheel through the adjacent parking lot. Valet vs standard spots are not clearly marked on the lower level. Hallways are windy and forked everywhere inside. Lots of passages and side stairwcases. The decor is nice. The seaview terrace and rose garden are lovely.

An amazing hotel. Most impressive part has been the service — everyone from front desk, to cleaning service, to room service has just been incredibly nice. You don't get that at most hotels you go to. Beautiful scenery and facilities. I would gladly come back and stay again.

Clean, spacious, well appointed guest rooms, gym, pool and public spaces. Gracious hospitality from front desk to grounds keepers and all staff. One thing sorely missed — their great concierge service — knowledgeable and helpful like the neighbor who knows your neighbood in a textured way.

Great location, has exec lounge for gold+ members, but the lounge is not stocked like the typical lounge I have been too. More of a quiet place to get away, some juice and coffee but no substantive food choices. Still a great experience, typical Marriott!

Nice hotel in great location. Close to a lot of shopping and restaurants. Large property with all the amenities you could need or want. I would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. It is also close to John Wayne airport.

The service here has been great. The rooms are very nice and they look, smell, and feel really clean. Although it is a little far, they have beautiful views of the ocean (see my pic). Additionally, they have an hourly shuttle that runs to the beach. They give you a bunch of amenities too. I'd stay here again.

Great property. We were there for a conference and they were fantastic. The food was great and on time and the service was top notch. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay or hold meetings.

I wasn't impressed with this Marriott. The design is very old and the views are bad. The pool service was slow. I thought the bed was too cushy and the blanket too thick. The air conditioner squeaked when the fan was on. Still didn't block out the hallway noise. It's nice that it is so close to fashion island though. And it's a quick drive down to the water.

Awesome place and have wonderful staff. — they really take care of you. Very considerate of your request. Great service and well maintained place. A happy and repeat customer here.

I am here for 3 days on a business trip and I must say this place is absolutely wonderful! The staff is so very polite and attentive. They literally speak and ask how you are every time you walk by. I feel terrible as I didn't know they were coming to clean my room while I was out. I would have put away my own things but it was refreshing to walk in to my clothes folded nicely on the bed. I could be out enjoying the city but I prefer to be here in my cozy suite! Thank you so much for the hospitality!

The majority of the hotel staff were outstanding and went beyond to provide great customer service. We are attending a conference the food was outstanding. Only 3 stars because of the way we we’re treated when when checked in. I had two request, one a sofa or chair and a room large enough to park my mobility scooter. We were told very politely that we can have a room with two double beds, chair and plenty of room to park my scooter in 15 to 20 minutes later. Two hours later my wife went to check again and they said a drape was torn so they have to get us another room. One hour later while I was I class my wife checked and was very rudely told that “Reward” members came first so we would have to wait. One hour later after my class I was very upset and going to the front desk and my wife met me and said we got a room. Four hours to get a room. Yes our room had a beautiful view, but the chair was added, no room for my scooter, no place to plug it in, broken cabinets, uneven floor. Very disappointed. But again unlike the one lady at registration everyone else went out of their way to provide excellent customer service.

Loved the ambiance and the hotel rooms. It's also convenient to have televisions with Netflix, YouTube etc. You can log in, watch your content and then remove your subscription from the TV. Only annoying part is for some reason, it keeps skipping back to normal TV after every Netflix playback ends. Why would you force people to hit more buttons to get back into apps? Also, the fitness center is pretty neat. I didn't have the chance to check out the spa. Staff are really lovely. Had a lovely conversation with the hotel staff Sarah. She went around having a chat with everyone at the restaurant for breakfast. Loved that.

The property is amazing! Little touches make the place special, like hand sanitizer buttons on the door handles and complimentary hand cream in the lobby. The hotel is designed with a large outdoor atrium, similar to an Embassy Suites but imagine no roof. It may pose a problem if the weather is bad. The rooms are nice, but the pull out sofa had no sheets or blankets available anywhere in the room (usually they're in a bag in the closet). Balconies are a tad small, but the views are incredible. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help you. I loved how Fashion Island was across the street, so the hotel is by many fun things to do.

Guestroom was fine with pleasant small balcony and two chairs overlooking golf course. Unless your room is in the tower, be prepared to walk quite a bit to get around property. Concierge lounge served good food and attendants were nice and helpful. However, the lounge is small and thus crowded for a hotel this large. Alisha at the front desk was very good at checkout.

Went here for a spa day with a Travelzoo voucher. It was very quiet and peaceful on a weekday, not too many other guests. The facilities were smaller than I expected but very nice. I ultimately ended up having a bad experience in the middle because of a lack of communication from them, but they were extremely apologetic and went above and beyond to make it right, so I think that's more important than the mistake and wouldn't take off points for it. The massage was pretty good but not one of the best I've had, and while not every massage will be best ever I was expecting more given what you're paying here. I would certainly go back, but I think I'd ask for a different masseuse, and I think I would only come with a deal, not sure I'd personally find it worth it at full price. That could just be me not being super into the saunas and things; maybe I'd enjoy it more with a friend. One thing I'll say is the food was shockingly good.

We needed a place to unwind following the events from the week we were in Orange County
So we decided to make a reservation to stay at the Marriott-Newport.
From the time we pulled up to the valet area we were treated so kindly.
We were tired, from just burying our mom. In fact the week prior had been emotional, and exhausting.
We walked into a spacious well appointed room.
We changed and went to the restaurant — bar area to get a bite to eat. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, making our time there fun and relaxing.
It was a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere and just what we needed.

Very nice hotel. Within walking distance to Fashion Island… across the street. A huge selection of shops and restaurants. This hotel has lots of green areas for events and beautiful views. Balconies are available in some rooms. There is lots of outdoor space for hanging out and relaxing by the fire. Pool is large… also has a restaurant.

I had a great experience here! It's in a great location, has beautiful facilities and very helpful staff. Many kudos to the manager Marzala (sorry if spelled incorrectly) for going well out of his way to make my experience as positive as possible. With so many hotel options in the area the people make the biggest difference and I would stay at this location again just because of the excellent staff!

This Marriott location is perfectly located. It's a walk across the street for shopping at Fashion Island and a short ride away from a excellent dinning options. It's relatively close to the beach. The view from our room was awesome. You need to request the partial ocean view rooms. It has a balcony with sliding doors that do open. I would recommend this location for anyone looking for a reasonable rate.

I was surprised to walk in to a lobby filled with vases that literally had rotting fruit in them for decorative purposes, it actually smelled. All of the staff was extremely helpful and the wedding arrangements they provided were outstanding. The carpet in the room was extremely dirty and the tile in the shower did not appear to have been cleaned properly, on an ongoing basis. The grout was really dirty. They have several pools, large games (chess and jenga) and what appeared to be a toddler water pad. The lounging areas had great patio furniture, cabana style. The hotel is walking distance from several shops and has amazing views from most vantage points.

It was very nice. The chicken on the lunch was dry, but it was a great experience. Rooms and service are great, and the proximity to the beach is definitely good.

Beautiful resort with great service. Had a nice golf course view with a balcony. Pool and spa were wonderful and easily accessible.

Loved the hotel. I was put into probably the furthest building from the lobby. I didn't mind the walk. My room had one of their new beds. It was very comfortable. I was intrigued when I had returned after room service had stopped by and all the used dishes were still in the room. Staff was very friendly. The close proximity to fashion island was nice. They have bikes you can rent to explore the area.

I was only there for a conference, but the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Great location! It's across the street from many stores to shop in, places to eat and near a movie theater for entertainment. Self parking is pricy though.

The hotel is in a nice location but not worth the cost. My wife and I were on a weekend motorcycle trip and stayed for a night. We were on the 8th floor. We justified paying the higher cost of the room because we spent the day riding and wanted a good night sleep before continuing our trip. At check in we were told about the Resort Fee ($25) and the parking fee ($29). Adding that to the $256 for the room (and God knows what other taxes and fees) we were paying Ritz prices but later felt we were getting Motel 6 accommodations. We had a long walk from the parking area, through the lobby then conference area to get to the elevator. The carpet was showing age had a musty smell as did the elevator and hallways. Our view was the golf course. Laying in bed, we could feel the wall move whenever a door slammed shut. We could hear people in the hallway outside and the air traffic (into and out of John Wayne Airport? ). After a rough night's sleep we loaded up and headed home. We will plan better next time and find a better place.

The hotel is very nice and it better be for this price! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent in the middle of everything you need and right by the beach. It's also fairly close to Disney Land! The only downside is getting here if you fly into LAX.

The rooms were nice and the bed was comfortable, that was the only thing good about the place.
Charge me $29 per day so I can self park 3 blocks away? Also charged an extra $25 resort fee? We were in a freaking softball tournament, you knew this. My truck was gone from sun up 6 a. M. To sun down and later once dinner was finished, 10 p. M. We didn't do anything but shower and sleep. Would not have even paid the outrages prices if not for tournament rules making us stay in their hotels. Ridiculous making people pay that anyway, if your going to charge extra, why not just include it in the rate, that way people know up front?
On top of that, I couldn't use a cart to haul luggage to and from my room, because the bellhop said, "No. " If I use the cart I have to use him too which means a tip and even more money out of my pocket for something I can and did do myself, even if it did take me 3 trips down the elevators, then up the elevators and around the building maze, back and forth from room to car, stupid…

Great location, close to tons of shopping food and the beach. The staff was amazing and the amenities the property offered were great. Rooms were very nice and clean with great views of the ocean.

Cozy, Clean, Rooms are small, but pillows are yummy! Very warm, friendly, place to stay, across the street from park! Walking distance to some nice eats! Hotel has yummy food also, not far from Newport Beach, but in the Old Town part of Newport Beach! Would totally stay there again! Check it out!

I was here for a conference. The hotel lobby and conference rooms are very nice. It is modern and welcoming. The room is expansive and can be doubled in size for bigger events. I can see a nice wedding reception being held in the room as well. The food provided by the hotel is delicious. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs with chives and bacon for breakfast. The salads and butternut squash soup was hearty and filling. Coffee and water was available the entire time. The staff was prompt in cleaning up the dirty dishes and refilling anything that was running low. The hotel is right next to Fashion Island, so it is easy to walk across the street and go shopping. It's a beautiful shopping center to explore. The area is very nice and the hotel fits in. Consider making a trip to Newport Beach while you're here.

Rooms are not as elegant as one would expect for the money. It is super expensive, and breakfast/parking/Wi-Fi (! ) (anything besides the room itself) is not included, you'll have to pay extra for all that and 1 night of parking is 28 USD for guests, while Wi-Fi costs 13 to 16 USD. Ridiculous. They also take 100 USD deposit per night on top of all other expenses, which is not refunded immediately after checking out. Our room was not cleared properly, for example the glasses were obviously not changed or cleaned after the previous guest. Room decor is old and not luxurious at all. Patio door didn't close properly and windows were dirty. Overall, it is probably one of my worst hotel experiences. Would not recommend, I am sure there are better places in that area.

The hotel has a great location, right next to Fashion Island. And you can park at the mall for free if you're not staying overnight. Nice lobby, comfortable places to sit outside, and a pleasant atmosphere make this one of my favorite places to visit in the area.

The staff was really nice and there was enough self parking for our event. The views were amazing and it is located right next to a golf course. I would come back.

We have been going to this hotel for about ten years. We go for the brunch on Sundays and from time to time take guests for dinner. The food and ambiance has slowly declined over the years, but we continued to go because we knew and liked all of the staff in the dining room and my wife liked going out on Sundays for breakfast. We could accept the decline in food and table settings to something similar to Norm's/IHop and the constant change of hostesses at the entrance who had little to no training, but the final straw has been parking. They took away the attendant at the exit from the parking and put in an automated system that does not work. I have figured out how to make it work for me, but most people have not worked that out and the line can be up to 25 cars and up to 15 minutes and more to exit. I have mentioned this to the manager and the valet service, but they apparently do not care enough to fix the system. This morning, the wait became long enough for me to get out of the queue, park and go into the hotel and ask to speak with the manger. I was incensed and the people behind the desk treated me with complete indifference/disdain. That did not improve my appraisal of the total lack of consideration for the customer. Someone then put himself forward as the manager, but seemed totally out of his depth for taking care of a customer who was very dissatisfied with the service. I explained the problem and returned to my car.

The location is perfect as it is right by the Fashion Island shopping center. The beach is just a short bike or car ride away. The staff here was wonderful and helpful. I was here for a conference. There's a wonderful resturant and Starbucks on site. Parking, however, is expensive.

Great location next to Fashion Island. The hotel's outdoor areas are beautiful and clean. Everything was as expected or better. If I could change one thing, it would be to have rooms available for pets, especially being so close to the super dog friendly mall, Fashion Island.

This hotel is in a great location about one mile away from the beach. Hotel employees are very responsive and helpful. Pricey, but worth it.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. And the lost and found service was outstanding. I accidentally left some things in the night table drawer next to the bed, and didn't put 2 and 2 together for several days after checking out. I was searching for some things at home, going through my bags, and couldn't find what was missing. After about 4 days, the lightbulb went on in my mind as I remembered putting things into the drawer but never taking them out. I called the hotel, spoke with lost and found, and told them my room number, and the items I had left behind. Lo and behold, they had found them and they Fedexed them back safely to me, and arrived this morning. I am very impressed and grateful! The only complaint I have that stops this from being a 5 star review is that I had to carry my bags up and down stairs constantly because my room was over the garden/pool, and somehow there was no direct shot from the lobby to the room without having to go up some stairs, then down some stairs. I had to do this multiple times with heavy bags and not very relaxing to have to do that. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. If I gave 5 stars, this would be confused with a 4 seasons or Ritz Carlton, which it is not. Nice hotel though, I would stay there again.

My husband and I travel frequently. This is the first hotel housekeeper that has robbed me. The housekeeper opened all the suitcases and went through our personal items and took cash. Is there something else missing that I have not identified yet? A pair of earrings? Sunglasses? Gives you an uneasy feeling. I waisted an afternoon waiting for Asset Protection to come up to my room. No shuttle to the beach. $30 taxi ride to Laguna. (Just to update, no response, no contact or resolution two weeks after)

This place is a joke. They charge you for parking because the outrageous price of the room is not enough. Was greated by a gentleman who asked how the trip was and when I said then traffic was crazy he said why did you even come down here then? I was asking questions he gave short rude answers. Take it from me. Don't make my mistake and waste your money stay somewhere else.

We had our 40th High School Reunion here and I stayed the whole week-end. I couldn't have been more pleased! Rose, the concierge, gave us directions to Rogers Gardens, gave recommendations for restaurants, made reservations for us, gave us VIP passes, and even made our reservations! She couldn't have been more helpful and kind! The check-in attendants were also helpful. They looked up my rewards number for me since I didn't know it, so I could get credit for my stay. And they held our bags after we checked out while we did some sightseeing before our flight. I thought the grounds were beautiful and well kept. The food at Sam and Harry's was good and the wait staff very friendly. The seating hostess might need some encouraging words to be more effective. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and I'll be sure to stay here again if I get the chance. Say Hi to Rose if you can. She's the best!

Over priced for the smallest room. PAID INTERNET WHAT YEAR IS THIS? Dont get any rooms on ground level they are infested with insects.

You don't get much for the price you pay. You get better service and amenities at a best western or embassy. The management may want to visit one and take notes. No coffee in lobby, just water, which might be better served by the poolside where there isn't even a drinking fountain. When I got to my room, I looked for the binder or guest book that gives all the information a guest should have like restaurants in area, hotel hours for pool, spa, etc. A menu and hours for the restaurant within the hotel, and closest beaches or activities. When I asked for something like it in the lobby, the manager said, "We don't do that. ". Hmmmm. Maybe should be considered? I've stayed in other Marriotts that do offer this. They give you a very well done book on all of Orange County and if you skim you can find some NP beach restaurants. There's a shuttle you wouldn't know about to the mall unless you asked. I really would not waste money on this place unless they up their service.

Excellent place! The family had a great time there on vacation.

Ridiculously overpriced compared to the quality, which was no better than any standard motel. Balcony furniture had cobwebs all over it, bathroom door didn't lock, no fan in the bathroom, and the sink was inside the bathroom unlike a lot of hotels, so it was unaccessible when someone was showering. In addition to the high starting price, they charge $25/night for parking and $12/day/device for Wi-Fi. Charging for Wi-Fi? Seriously? You would have a higher quality and a much lower price at any Best Western/Super 8/Motel 6/Holiday Inn. Don't waste your money on this place.

Will never stay at this hotel again! Nickel and Dime'd me to death. Tell you where to park then add $25.00 to your final bill for using their parking lot, per night? A complete stranger of the street can go into their lobby and use high speed internet access for FREE but, to get on the internet from your PAID room and they want another $15.00? By the time I left they had clipped me for an extra $40.00! I was afraid to flush the toilet by the time I left for fear that they'd charge me for that too.

Beware of bed bugs. Stayed here 3 nights and was eaten alive. When I brought it up to the front desk clerk, I kept it low-key, asked for a female manager (I didnt want to show a male manager my bites. ). But suddenly the manager was "too busy" and she said they would call me. I tried to keep this low-key and let management do the right thing, but I've received no communication about what was in my room (do I need to take precautions, see a doctor? this is a huge inconvenience — — — I had no idea if I had to quarantine my clothes and luggage to prevent them from getting in my home! ) Sadly, I am forced to put a review on here after receiving snubby customer service. I've stayed at this hotel several times for business and personal travel. Now I see the staff's true colors — when you're spending money and having a good time, the staff and level of customer service is great. Evidently, the minute you have a problem. The staff snubs you and management sweeps things under the rug. If they had done right, I would've been okay with coming back. But now I am going to warn you all and my company about this hotel. Sorry Marriott. Fix your customer service policies.

Hotel is very clean and staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Mario, the front end staff, made sure that my family and I had everything we needed. He even offered free water and chocolates upon our arrival during registration. The pool is okay. Nothing big to brag about. My 7 year old son and 9 year old nephew had a great time. They really enjoyed the fact that the pool didn't close until 11pm on a weeknight. The rooms are very spacious and clean. I'm not sure about the layout of the entire hotel, but our room was a suite with a king bed and separate living room. Our room was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Parking is self-parking and there's plenty of room. I would definitely stay here again. I recommend this hotel if you need to stay in the area.

I stayed here for the PacNet 13 convention in February 2013. The customer service was excellent. Room was very comfortable. Loved the exercise room with bottled water, fresh fruit and headphones. Always fixed anything that wasn't perfect. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.
