Great location by airport. Friendly staff.

I saw the reviews on this hotel a day before checking in so I couldn't cancel our reservation anymore. Day of our checkin, I thought it weird that they charged incidentals on my credit card 5x for a night stay but I let it go since the charges were pending. Overall, our 1 night stay was good. The hotel has a nice modern touch and it was clean. The bed was comfy. Checkout was fast and lady at the counter said that they would email me the bill. They never did, I had to call again to ask. A few hours later I was billed for another 4x my actual bill. Tried talking to a manager, was hung up on TWICE. I don't know what kind of company you guys are running but these are FRAUDULENT CHARGES and someone has to be accountable for it. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL if you don't want to deal with the aftermath. Wish I could have read the reviews before booking. Hope you can read this before deciding to stay!

Hopping from le Meridian of Pasadena/Arcadia to Irvine Spectrum Mall for famous Dim-sum at Capital Seafood Restaurant (outdoor seating）, I drove down afterwards to this fabulous Four Diamond-rated Renaissance after I indulged myself with intoxication of breathtakingly splendid sunset at the Newport-Laguna beach nearby. Fascinated by its unique Italiano Renaissance scant with trendy art deco interior design at public area, I am wowing 🤩 now inside my upgraded 650sqf spacious suite ，amazingly gorgeous.

Horrible experience. First night A/C is not working — which understandably can happen. Had it “repaired” at 8 pm only to wake up at 3 am to water from the ceiling flooding the entry way and into the closet and bathroom. Had to move across the hall at 3 am only to have the AC in that room still not work and have to leave the middle of my certification class to move to room because we only had 30 minutes so they could clean the room to give to some other poor customer even though they knew the AC was not working properly. Get in late night 3 go to sleep and wake up to realize there are bodily fluids stains on the other side of my bed and rodent excrement in the other bed in the room. Called the front desk and my roommate physically put said “excrement” in plastic bag and took it to the manager on duty as well as showed pictures of these disgusting sheets. Was told sheets would be changed after 9 am — come back after conference at 2 pm and filthy sheets are still on the beds. Call again and are told again we will have clean sheets. Leave for the day and return at 7:30 to find filthy sheets still on our beds. However, they did dump clean sheets on the suitcase and left them there for us to clean up. Problem is one set is not the right size. 3 more calls and an hour and a half later we still do not have sheets for this bed and have an early flight out in the morning. Are told no manager on duty and nobody can call to address these issues.

It was a beautiful place I was there for a convention.

Stayed there recently, service was Motel 6ish at best. Noisy rooms and doors, no towels, tiles falling off of the Jacuzzi. I had to ask for assistance with my bags. Service level doesn't match the price point. Plus, they never answer the phone! The first time we stayed with different ownership it was amazing, I will never stay here again! Also, the website won't let you leave a review so I had to come on FB to express my extreme displeasure.

I've had the pleasure of visiting this property twice so far in 2020, and both visits we're awesome! I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting from out of town, the place is super clean, employees are super nice and the place is absolutely gorgeous! I look forward to my quarterly stays in the future but this place.

I'm here quite often for business. Food and bar are amazing (a bit expensive but I'm always happy to pay for quality).
Today I was particularly impressed by a member of the staff.
For the records, on the check her name seems to be Teresa.
Anyway, she was always smiling and with a very positive attitude. Not that kind of fake politeness you normally sense with waiters due to the duties of their job.
A genuine one and service was great (food as well).
Sometimes little things make your day.

Came to spend a one night this week with my husband and was really surprised by how nice this hotel is. We were very disappointed thou with the ONLY option they have for guests to park, which is the valet. Without self parking option we had to leave our car in their hands and unfortunately they were very negligent with our car. The company who manages the valet — Towne Park Valet — hired a lot of inexperienced and young drivers and they would hang around talking to each other while guests were waiting for their cars. They also would remove the cars not very carefully from the parking lot. Long story short, the day we were leaving my car had a scratch in the passenger door that was very deep into the paint. It seemed like somebody tried to wipe it and clean it before returning our car to us. They also returned our keychain completely broken. We opened a claim to explain our car was in perfect condition before we parked there but they just answered us saying that they can’t do anything about it! When you have NO OTHER option besides VALET for parking, I feel that you assume the risks and liability for the damage your drivers do. So I am never going back not only to this location but to all Renaissance locations in the world because I felt so disrespected as a client — and a company that tries to save their reputation for dimes should not be worth my time and respect.

Beautiful hotel! Even surprised us with a champagne to celebrate our anniversary. We also had room service and the food was delicious and well prepared. Although I wish the parking is free for their customers. Would be great overall!

Not really in Newport Beach, more like Irvine w a Newport each address. Nickel and dime. They try to charge you for EVERYTHING! Wi-fi, coffee, Cable TV is from 1992, yet they offer movie $20/per. Seriously, we stayed here because it was at a good rate, and are VERY disappointed. Should have just paid the extra $50/ night and stayed on the beach. Oh, and the power went out for 7 hours. Don’t stay here, it was a terrible experience.

I accidentally booked my room here, yet have no complaints. The rooms where nice and clean. Nice pool area and gym, but my favorite was the food. The food was awesome! I will definitely come back.

Facility was nice. Room was nice, and clean. The food was good but the service was non existent. At the bar/restaurant, at the "street taco" event dinner, and at the event luncheon. I had a tip added to my lunch bill that showed up on my credit card after I had to go to the bar to find some way to pay my bill after the waitress threw it on the table and disappeared. I expected better service.

For being a Renaissance property, I expected more. The TV in my room didn't work right, the alarm clock was stuck on one time only and couldn't be fixed, there were no toiletries in the room upon arrival, and the furniture was so modern, it wasn't quite like furniture. The chairs were uncomfortable, is another way to put that. I've been to nicer properties with better amenities than an airport hotel within an office complex. The 24hr gym was really nice though!

Beautiful comfortable hotel, however 3 things were a real turn off for us. 1. Loud music was playing in the pool area until around 11pm and was very audible in our room. After a long day with a toddler we all needed sleep and the music kept us up late. 2. When I called the front desk to ask about the music, the phone rang 20x no answer! So I called the bell desk instead and she told me it would be off in 30 minutes. That was at 10:30pm. Kind of ridiculous. 3. $33 mandatory valet fee is pretty steep. Loved our hotel room and would have loved to use the pool, hot tub, and tennis courts if we had been staying longer.

Great location and very friendly staff! The decor of the hotel and the rooms is well-done. Slightly disappointed with a couple of things: 1) room had a compartment for a refrigerator but no refrigerator was inside, 2) the room door did not lock from the outside (the deadbolt and locking mechanism did not work) and 3) the laminate flooring in the room was starting to peel up. It appears to me that this hotel was recently remodeled on a budget. The aesthetics are nice but some details were overlooked.

This is an awesome hotel. I was attending a wedding here. The hotel looks amazing and the ball room was grand. Definitely a wonderful place to host large gatherings.

I don’t know how this hotel is rated four stars. It is going through a facelift and there is construction everywhere. We just got married and I got one of the suites. When we walked inside I thought there was a robbery because there was hardly any furniture. The first room was literally a desk, two chairs and a TV. The second room was the bed. The tables were all marked and scratched up and the bathroom shower head was old, broken, the shower curtain was also broken and falli…ng off the wall, the air vents were caked with dust. There were two robes that were tattered and ripped. The next day I went to the front desk and told them how disappointed I was. They advised me that the suites don’t have the new furniture in them yet and that is why they look so empty. I don’t know why you would even charge people for a sub standard room if it is not complete. I advised them that I wanted to switch rooms to a regular room. When I arrived in the regular room the furniture was new and very contemporary although the sheets on the bed had hair on them along with stains to include the pillowcases. So needless to say I am very disappointed and will not be staying here again. Some things you should know. Valet parking is $33 per night and you do not have any choice in opting out. Food is extremely expensive and everything is all a cart. There is a coffee maker in the room and a small refrigerator but no microwave to heat up any food. The pool is standard as well as the Jacuzzi.

Stayed here for 2 nights and we really enjoyed ourselves. 10 minutes to Fashion Island and Newport Center Drive. 15-20 minutes to Newport Beach and Pier. Disneyland is 25 minutes away. John Wayne airport is 5 minutes away. The hotel is newly renovated. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and well decorated. The in house restaurant has great happy hour process and menu. We'll definitely be staying again.

Helpful and nice staff. Breakfast with not so many options but all I care. Fruits are fresh and sweet, moist scrambled eggs, fresh croissant and good coffee. I wish there was a self parking.

This hotel has just recently been renovated. The lobby, restaurant and amenities are new and clean. Our room was comfortable and hotel staffs are very friendly. We had a good time during the saty. I Would come back again.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Very close to John Wayne Airport. Currently renovating some rooms. Stayed in one that was newly renovated; it was nicely appointed.

Stayed here for a work related conference. The staff were very nice, professional, accommodating, and seem to really care about the services being offered. Although room service was excellent and the food was good, I would recommend the food carts be DUSTED/CLEANED before and after each use (had to lower the leaf on the cart and discovered the dust under the cart). The fitness room needs a bit of attention—machines (elliptical, treadmill, and spin bike) need to be serviced/maintained; great selection of free weights and kettlebells. William, the shuttle driver, was friendly and knew of great restaurants in the immediate area.

The hotel is right by the airport and quiet. I had made reservations for 2 double beds. I called them on the day of arrival to let them know I'm going be checking in late. They told me no worries as long as I there before 5am the next day. I asked if they need my confirmation number to add comments on the reservation. The lady said no. We got there a little before midnight. When I went to check in I was told that they only have king beds left and they'll send rollaway bed. I told them there are 4 of us and we need the double beds. He said sorry that's all we have. I explained that I had called. He said he'll check to see if a renovated room was clean and available. They put us in the correct room. At 7:50 am we got a knock on the door and the person said that we had locked the safe and the are there to open it. They came to wrong room since the safe was not even touched. The hotel is nice but you may not get the room you reserved.

Stayed a week and really had no complaints. Pretty impressive. Parking is the only issue. Find somewhere else to park.

I rented a car from enterprise for 25$ per day. And then paid 33$ per day to park at this hotel during my stay. Now if that isn’t the definition of a great deal then I don’t know what is. I Would have given 0 stars however I only found a couple of hairs from the previous guests in my bathtub instead of an entire handful. Oh and I almost forgot about the mass grave of 100 dead insects that were floating in the hot tub. Thanks renaissance for making my decision of where to stay on my next trip a little bit easier!

Enjoyed my stay here. BREAKFAST should not be missed. Valet service was impeccable. If you gripe about the charge you shouldn't be staying at a place like this really.

Nice hotel, fabulous beds. Here are the not so good. Called room service — phone didn’t work had to go through the operator for everything but she never answered. Had to wait and wait. Then there was only one poor employee at the registration when I checked in and out. Took so much longer than it should have because of the line. No wash clothes in my room and too difficult to get through to anyone, just used a hand towel.
The valet staff and all the staff were very very nice, just not enough of them.
I will give this hotel another try because last time I stayed I didn’t have this type of experience.

Fire alarm went off in my room at 3am. They had to come and rip it out of the wall. No apology until I told the front desk the next morning. No explanation. Comped my parking fee when they should've comped the room because I couldn't do the thing I went to do at the hotel… sleep! Beautiful hotel, beautiful grounds, beautiful rooms. Unfortunate wiring or something wrong with the fire alarms.

Hotel is nice but the entire process for entry/check in is overly elaborate. Mandatory valet. I am sure it is a welcome option for affluent persons with a need to have their ego stroked… but I prefer my freedom and the ability to go where and when I choose without interaction or delay. Hotel is nice, but nothing special. Fitness center is a letdown and rather disappointing. Also, apparently food and drinks are very rare inside the hotel, because prices while obviously Californian are obnoxious for the quality. If you judge a gift by the fanciness of the wrapping paper, then this is your type of joint. But for me, this is as ridiculous as a shirt you only wear for Parties.

The Duke. I stayed here for a 2 Day Business conference (On Site), First off, the Hotel is being renovated, So my comments might not be relevant after construction is done. With that said, the Hotel looks like a throw back to the 80's. Very Dated. Hallways to the Conference rooms are very tiny, like a hallway found at home, not wide. Service was OK, We had over 100 people at our conference, Valet Parking was a nightmare when all 100+ people left (Should have been staffed better). All in All, just OK.

This is a nice place the rooms are nice and comfortable the staff is helpful and friendly and if you have business in the area it's a great location it's basically right across the street from the airport and it's located within a business Park area. But the main problem with this place is the valet parking situation. There's plenty of parking in the area but they require you to valet park at a cost of over $30 a day. We had two cars and we were staying there for 3 days which ended up being an extra $200 we had to spend. The valet service was very good the people were friendly and and attentive I got to know the staff very well since I'm used to self parking I come and go quite a bit but it was a bit frustrating knowing that every time I went there I had to have them park my car and when I wanted to leave I had to have him retrieve my car which could take a while sometimes after while I could just let them know I'm planning to stay for the night and they would park it or I'm planning to leave again soon and they would just leave it there which just really cool. And anytime I had the valet park or bring me my car I tip them which once again added to the cost. The Duke should seriously think about changing this policy and maybe offer valet but also do a paid parking area for those of us that would rather park our own cars. It's too bad on the last day of my stay I found out they had a basketball court.

The Duke has been great so far. My check in process was quick and friendly, and the room is nice and clean. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is clean and tidy as well. I have to say all the staff have been very friendly, professional and helpful too.

Did not stay at hotel but attended for meeting. Had breakfast, it was good but expensive. Breakfast should have included a kids menu. The hotel looks at little aged. I believe the there was construction going on. I feel parking should have been free. Only valet parking available. Decided to stay else where, glad I decided on that. Not sure why this hotel is so expensive?

I have to start by saying that I visited this hotel while a part of it was still under construction so maybe that is part of why being there wasn't comfortable, but there were no signs to let cars know where the temporary entrance was. The inside felt like a maze. Long trip to go anywhere. Wifi reception in the rooms is terrible. I found out there was a gift shop on my last day there. (Was there for a week). There were no signs either to indicate neither that there was a gift shop nor where it was hidden at. She ended up eating at the hotel most days and the food was super expensive. They do have a wine and cheese happy hr available on a day of the week. Food is good, they have good chefs, however, regardless of ordering gluten free food, my allergies would get triggered. We rented a room for a conference meet and greet and that was the worst experience for our group. Besides being super pricey, they basically opened the room told us where the chairs and tables were at, they brought table cloths and put them on top of a few tables and left. Regardless of the restaurant being side to side to our room, they said that each guess would have to go get something to drink or eat if they wanted or needed anything. The person that paid for the room was flabbergasted! There was no regund, the manager was gone, and the restaurant was clueless at what to do.

3 stars… I was partly disappointed with this hotel experience. Currently, the hotel entry is under construction. There were no festive decorations such as a tree to make the lobby festive or more elegant. The $35 valet was quite shocking. Trying to phone front desk or housekeeping from room was impossible. (Understaffed) Shower head / tub faucet : 2 stars… basic head, faucet flowed during shower. Extended stay America hotel is just across the street. You may compare rates there.

Nice hotel close to the Orange county airport. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was great.

Arrived late after a long trip to see empty lots everywhere that were blocked off and labeled "No hotel Parking". Only to be told there is a $35 Valet fee daily. Then they take my car and park it in the "No hotel Parking" lot. That makes no sense. Rooms are nice and there is a lounge but to call it four stars is definitely a stretch.

Found the hotel on Groupon as a "mystery" hotel and decided to book it. Hotel is just beautiful from lobby to room to grounds. Our room overlooked the pool area that was so inviting with a fire pit, comfy chairs and jacuzzi. We went down to hang out just as the sun was going down. Very relaxing. Room had modern decor with lots of room and very comfortable beds. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place and would come back again if in the area.

Was amazing to sleep in such a nice hotel. The had a beautiful gala there the night we stayed! We got an amazing deal from priceline. Paid half the normal rate!

Five star hotel with all of the amenities in a serene atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a 24 hr. Gym, a pool and Jacuzzi, store, dining room, & bar. The ice and snack machines are located on each floor. Room sercice is available. Smoking is permitted outside only. Parking is $33 per day.

Imagine the surprise when you arrive? Only valet parking at $35 per day. No self parking within an Uber ride. No mention of that on their booking site. Evening dining is bar menu only in the lounge. Good food, but not a especially great place for kids. Lots of dogs.

My husband and I are here for our 1st time celebrating our anniversary. I love it. Everyone is genuinly nice and helpful. Our suite was fabulous. Very neat and clean. Super roomy. Awesome gym. Beautiful pool. Only downside is the only parking is valet and it is $33/ night. Would visit again.

Very disappointed in this hotel. No parking available, parking is $33 a day which they do not tell you when they take your car & park it, nor did they tell me when I check into the hotel, ridiculous! Once we got to our floor and got out of the elevator to go to our room, it was so hot. When we got to our room it was hot even when we lower the degrees on AC in room it did not cool off completely. Pool was disappointing & staff service in dining area was poor. Staff took forever to wait on us. I would rather have stayed at the Radisson hotel across the street. I would never recommend the Duke Hotel to anyone, it was HORRIBLE.

Very nice facility, pillows are sad and beds in our two rooms were sagging in the middle. Also only option for parking is valet which is $33 per day, though the valet is very quick and helpful. Place is beautiful and well kept throughout. Should add that after several requests for bell service had to eventually drag our stuff into the room via multiple trips ourselves, couldn't even get a bell cart to use.

The Duke Hotel, was exceptional and far exceeded my expectations.
The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is across from the airport, but never heard a plane while inside. The Front Desk staff was courteous, professional and definitely well trained and ready to please. The Breakfast Market Buffet in the restaurant, had tons of fresh fruit and pastries, smoked salmon and bagels, in addition to regular eggs and breakfast meat items. The Valet were all very kind and very fast. The pool was wonderful. Poolside Service would be nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Duke hotel. The room was lovely and the beds were very comfy. I was pleased to find that we had a keurig coffee maker in our room. The heated pool and hot tub were a lovely treat to enjoy at the end of the day. The housekeeping staff were very accommodating and prompt in meeting our requests. Also, the front desk staff and valet staff were always friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that the parking seemed over priced ($33 a day). Other than that this was probably one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. I will definitely stay here again the next time we go to Orange County.

It's located right by the John Wayne Airport. We are staying here for a friend's wedding. I love the pool and the burger at the pool was amazing. We had a king bed room and it was overall pretty good.

Fairmont does nothing less than excellently and this property was no exception. The chef there is fantastic, the sales team are some of the best is the business, and the product itself is versatile and top notch.

Staying here is the Nickel and Dime Experience. I got this place for about 125.00 a night on Priceline deals and thought hey this is four stars and should be good. When I got there and got to room it was okay but I have stayed in 3 stars that were just as nice and just as roomy and payed about 85 a night in the Bay area and San Deigo (not places were you can be cheap). Then when I went to find the Wi-Fi information and found it 21.00 a day! Really charging for basic Wi-Fi at a business hotel. What the hell? Next day went down stairs and got my car out of Valet as there is no other parking available and come to find out there is a 32.00 dollar a night room charge for Parking your car with no other options available. At this point until I check out to the best of my knowledge I am paying 175-180 a night for a hotel that is not worth it on any level and that is only if I did not miss any fees. I am not a cheap person and I tend to figure you get what you paid for. That is not the case with the Fairmont Newport Beach. The worst part to me is that the situation is bad enough to complain about on this site and it is not even my money, it is a work trip. It is that ridicules.

I want to thank you guys very much for taking care of my family when they came in town. You guys are flat out amazing and will definitely get you guys more business. Made my family feel like they were kings and I personally respect that very much.

Phenomenal Place! We payed 100 dollars on hotwire for this place well well worth it everything is very well kept and cleaned and the beds are so comfy the service was very good the guy at the front desk upgraded us for no charge :) highly recommend.

There is very little negative feedback I have for the hotel. It was a great stay! The hotel staff is quite friendly. The rooms are in excellent shape. The only problem was the room service menu in the middle of the night at 2 AM, which barely offered anything.

The parking lot week make your car dusty and the rooms are a bit narrow but they aren't of low quality and still are better than nowhere.

I've stayed in many hotels where a room with a king bed was pricier, didn't have robes or a big screen TV. Hotel staff was also nice. No self parking, but over all, I enjoyed the accommodations and would definitely go back.

The overall property is nice. However, we got a room with 2 beds thinking they were queen beds but they really were small more like a full size. When going out for a trip there was a mix up with the valet. They were very gracious in nit charging us the $30 overnight parking fee. They also granted us a late check out. Overall nice property and great hospitality.

We had to stay in a smelly room with two double beds for our anniversary. Do not stay at this hotel.

Horrible. Make sure you don't get a room over the outdoor area where a LIVE band is performing until midnight. They started there performance about 9:30 while we were already in bed. Hotel offered another room which meant getting out of bed, packing and moving across the hotel. I just decided to put a pillow over my head. Not the best experience. Couldn't wait for morning.

For the price I paid for the night, all I got was one complimentary keureg cup of coffee. The valet parking was outrageous ($30) and the parking attendant still had the nerve to ask for a tip. Sorry, but for the price there are much nicer places to stay.

We've stayed here for three years in a row in January. Always great service and great rooms. Probably the only slightly annoying thing is the forced valet service. (Note: we usually pay a conference rate so we haven't paid full price).

First of all, this hotel isn't in Newport Beach except maybe by ZIP code. It's in a sterile area of large office parks just a few blocks from the airport with very little local foot traffic. The rooms aren't special for a luxury hotel and you'll pay extra for parking and internet. All these things are free at the Radisson across the street. So why four stars? For the conference facilities, which is the main reason I've stayed here several times. The food is excellent, the rooms well set up and the services trouble-free.

I have stayed at Fairmont's all across the nation and I do have to agree with the other reviewers on that there are much better places in Newport to stay at. I had several complications while I was at this hotel. From a maid hassling me to leave my room so she could clean it, even though I told her it was fine for that day. Then there is the issue with the hotel transportation that states they will shuttle you with in a certain mile range and the driver says that is incorrect and I need to pick up the slack for another driver, since we are busy. He drops me off in the middle of a shopping parking lot no where near where I told him I wanted to go. When presenting these issues to the hotel manager, his response was to brush it under the rug and offer me a measly $50 f&b credit. I was still in the shopping parking lot in the heat, not at my original destination, that I ended up walking a mile to. As a former NB resident I can say with certainty, I will most likely not ever be staying here again.

One night stay in King Room with pool view. Bed was amazingly comfortable, service was top notch, valet parking was $20 dollars per day. Not sure what all the negative reviews on the airport noise is about, but it wasn't a problem for me. Great place to stay, wish I had more time to relax here. Me and my wife will return.

Super helpful staff who went above and beyond, amazing beds and quiet rooms, great food, only issue is lack of channels for sports at the bar — at least there is a sports bar across the street though. Highly recommend if you can get a rate under $180/night.

Stayed there 3 nights and I loved it! They have great customer service. All the employees treated me with great respect. The food was delicious but it was pricey. They only have valet parking which is about $20.00 a day. I would come back again. Thank you for the great experience Fairmont.
