The staff were really friendly and super helpful. At one point I had a guy that couldn't take the hint that I was not interested in him and insisted on walking me back to the hostel (even though I said I didn't want him too). So even though I was not in the main bit I walked to the main building. And waited a bit. One of the staff members asked if I was okay (i was) and if I needed walking to my own building. Then the next day I didn't go for breakfast (just because I was to lazy to get up) and they messaged if I was okay. Which I appreciate as a solo female travel. I had a private room which was nice and well price. With a very comfortable bed (which everyone knows is important). Unfortunately there is some building work going on not far away from my room. There are tours to book onto from the hostel which is handy as they're normally cheaper than online. Good location too.

Best hostel I've stayed in all my travels. The staff are so welcoming and make you feel like family. Cosy, comfortable accommodation in a great location (close to major sites in Old Town and only a short public transport trip from others). Awesome bar upstairs with a fantastic view of the Hagia Sofia and a they run a great pubcrawl if you get the chance.

A wonderful place to stay. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, taking the effort to learn our names and travel plans. They showed us around the hostel and shared their knowledge of the area recommending a plesent restaurant for dinner. The rooms were very clean and well maintained, facilities were all good. The hostel provides a good quality breakfast with a nice variety of fruit and ccold meat/cheese. Definitely worth a stay.

Great location, close to all of the major tourist sites. This is the biggest plus. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Rooms can be a little humid and warm, but bring a small fan for you to plug into the socket next to every bed and you'll be good to go!

Cheers is the best. All of the staff is so friendly. I really felt like they wanted us to be there. There is such a great atmosphere here. The roof top bar makes it so easy to meet other travelers. I also loved there breakfasts everymorning.

Cheers hostel was super amazing and welcoming to me for my three night stay in Istanbul. They communicated with me very efficiently through email before my stay and answered all my questions. Upon my arrival, they were super friendly and made me feel at home. The rooms are cosy and each have a lock and key to use under the bed for safe security. Their rooftop bar has a beautiful view of hagia Sofia and is great to meet people and have a Turkish beer. The location is so close to so many of the main sights in the heart of the old city. Sinan took us out in the city to some pubs which was really fun and nice and I probably wouldn’t have gone out period unless that was offered. They made sure I was safe throughout the experience. The hostel was very social and a bit of an older crowd like myself (aka no college holidayers), so I really enjoyed that since I came solo. Really cute porch in the front of hostel and some cute golden retrievers hanging around! Thank you guys and I can’t wait to come back to Istanbul and see more of turkey!

Great location and friendly people. Stayed in the private en suite room. It was spacious but with creaky beds and flooring. Overall, nice stay but the rooms will need maintenance soon.

Hell of a time. One of the better travel experiences Ive had. Affordable, clean, kind stafg. It is in a fantastic part of the city, with a view of Hagia Sophia from the top floor. And if you prefer a private bedroom, they can accommodate for a little bit more, but still very affordable.

Great location to see the sights of the old city. The facilities were clean and lockers and bedding were provided. The breakfast was tasty and social, and the staff were very helpful.

10/10 staff. Very accommodating, lots of questions amd genuinely wanting you to get the most out of your visit to istanbul. From arranging balloon rides, airport/cappadocia transfers the staff were great. Beds are very clean and comfortable.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. My partner and I stayed in one of the private rooms two streets up and it was lovely. The hostel itself is so welcoming and the staff are the friendliest I have ever encountered. We instantly felt like old friends of the hostel workers. The hostel also has a beautiful golden retriever who greeted us every morning. I would go back and stay another week!

Definitely a party hostel. Music very loud at night. However, it had good food for breakfast and nice people! Hence 4 stars.

I booked through hostelworld and paid 12-15 euro per night in a six bed dorm. For the standard of this hostel this is overpriced. In England when you pay £12-15 per night for a bed in a dorm room you get clean toilets/ showers, no rancid smells and moulding and clean bedding. This is not the case here. General observation for Istanbul : everything is overpriced for tourist, 2-3 times what the locals pay, which makes prices comparable to Western Europe but the similarities end there. The quality is way below the European standards and people can be rude if they think you don't understand Turkish.

I stayed in private room, different house from dormitory. I got room in 4th floor with no elevator, so dont bring big luggage. The staff is quite helpfull. Breakfast is just average. Despite all that facts, the security is very good and the location is very close to tram station sultanahmet.

Great hospitality and service, especially the first few nights we stayed. After a bit of travelling we returned, and our rooms were a 15 minute walk from the main hostel building, with no priority notice. Very inconvenient, as we chose the hostel in part based on its location.

I've stayed in many many hostels across 70 countries and counting and this is one of the best. Friendly, clean, spacious, you feel like part of the family very quickly. I would never stay anywhere else again in Istanbul.

Don't waste your time with any other budget hostel. This is the one. Very friendly staff, clean, air conditioned rooms available. Really good location for siteseeing. What more can you ask for? Check out the view from the rooftop bar at night!

Very friendly place. Yes they did remember my name and I felt very welcome. The price was good considering it's in the heart of everything. Breakfast included was very good, including an assortment of fresh fruits vegetables cheese bread coffee tea and eggs. Filter water is free here. Rooms are clean, as are the bathrooms. The attic bar is a nice place, never being too raucous for my 3rd floor dorm, and with a nice night view of the Hagia Sophia. Easy walking distance to so many things. Staff went out of their way and gave us a trip to the island as well. Laundry service is just across the street if you need it.

Me and a friend stayed at cheers hostel in Istanbul in March 2017 and just had a great time! There is a great atmosphere in the hostel and all of the staff members are really lovely! I visited many hostels all over the world and can definitely recommend to stay at cheers :) PS: the view from the terrace is awesome.

Cheers Hostel is your definite destination in Istanbul. The place has a perfect location near many historical sites like Hagia Sofia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet Mosque and many more. The hostel is 2 minutes away by walk from the tram station and this will make your vacation so easy.
The people behind this place are amazingly friendly and they all know the English language very well. You will visit as a guest and you will leave as a family member. Get your delicious bite in the morning, meet the visitors and just enjoy your time. Do not hesitate to ask the guys there for recommendations because they will definitely lead you to the best places with the best prices. And in the night find your way to the bar upstairs, enjoy the good warm vibes and the Hagia Sofia view with a glass of Turkish wine.
Overall, my experience and stay there were amazing and I totally recommend Cheers Hostel for its incredible ambience. I will be back soon.

This is one of those places you'd go back to just for the hostel itself. Not only is Istanbul incredible, but this hostel made my trip there for sure. For me, it was too hot to spend my days going around the city, so I stayed in the hostel! Soooo happy about this too! getting to meet Aleks, the new and wonderful addition to the staff, really made my stay. We would talk and play Backgaman (which she alongside the wonderful old German father in law taught me) and drink coffee or tea or beer. Really just relaxing and nice. I cannot wait until Istanbul comes back up on my list of places I'll be visiting, because I know exactly where I'll be headed too as soon as I'm in that city:) thank you all so much.

First time ever staying in a hostel, and couldn't have found a better one. Extremely friendly staff, and overall great environment. The rooms/bathrooms were clean, they serve you healthy breakfast every day, makes you tea/coffee all day/night. Also, the bar upstairs is perfect to relax in the evening/night … and best of all, the view, you just can't beat the view of Hagia Sophia from the top floor lounge/bar area. Highly recommended.

I booked this on the recommendation of a friend. I've stayed at a lot of hostels in my day, and this is one of the good ones. There's an awesome bar on the terrace with a view of the mosque. Staff are exceptionally jelful and friendly. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Spent 4 nights at Cheers Hostel in October 2015. My friend and I had a private room with on suite. The location is perfect! It's within a short walk to Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and other sites. The staff is friendly and helpful. They arranged airport transportation, a Bosphorus boat tour and gave suggestions on the best places to buy souvenirs. They expressed genuine concern for our happiness. The 4th floor bar is comfortable, has a great view of Hagia Sophia and has great beer prices. Breakfast is included and had a lot of fruits, eggs and coffee. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout the facility. The other guests were friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Hostel perfectly located to visit the most important monuments of the city. The staff is very friendly. Great value for money. Definitely recommended.

For the price of 70€ for a double room is relatively little offered: room decor is quite old and worn out, bathroom with many Schimmelstellen and very small, Breakfast unimaginative and unappetizing. Wi-Fi was available but not usable because too slow. The location of the hostel is for mass tourism is certainly not bad, for the interesting Istanbul (good Restaurants, etc) one is, however, quite a remote location. I would not come back and may also no recommendation.

The manager: Describing Tariq as a sleazeball doesn't even scratch the surface of this guy. He is smarmy little guy with a clear Napoleonic complex. He is loud and pushy and will only smile for as long as he can milk you for money. Asian girls that check in will very often get flirted with and get his arm wrapped around their shoulders only to be introduced to strangers as his "new girlfriend". Where the line between quirky cultural difference and plain sleaziness is drawn is for others to decide, I mention it because it was systematic at Cheers and oddly enough I don't find a single review mentioning it. One girl I got to know during my stay had enough of it and checked out and another was uncomfortable going to the upstairs bar without a chaperone. Hygiene: While I have no complaints of the rooms, they're spacious and tidy, the bathrooms were not nice. The showers have mold in them, water pressure is bad and the temperature of the water fluctuates wildly. The soap dispenser on the second floor was broken for the duration of my stay. The bed sheets only get changed when you check out, so people who stay for several days won't get their sheets changed unless they complain. The third floor bathroom, which is the one used by people visiting the upstairs bar, broke one evening and when I checked out 6 days later it was still broken. Some of the tenants had to 'flush' the toilet themselves by pouring water into it but it still didn't make the smell of stale urine go away.

Great place; very reasonably priced given the location to pretty much all the prime sites within Istanbul's old town. The included continental breakfast was also a great deal — — included fresh fruit, which is pretty hard to find at many hostels. Staff was really helpful; we were fortunate enough to be there where they hosted a BBQ with home-cooked local eats and beer. Great place to meet people as well; most travelers were pretty social. Tony, one of the staff members, periodically organizes nighttime events for hostel guests, to include checking out the party scene out in Beyoglu. Would definitely consider staying there again if I ever return to Istanbul!

Very nice place in the middle of all site seeing locations in Istanbul. Spaceous rooms, clean, delicious breakfast and very helpfull staf. The dog is also very kind:-P.
