Review of Carthage Thalasso Resort 5*

A 5 star hotel! my experience was not a good one, maybe because it was off season but its not work the 5 stars rating. To be fair I was on a business trip for 30 days. the place: it's FAR! and yes taxes maybe cheap — based on your currency exchange rates — but to be forced to take a taxi everytime you want to go out is really annoying and get kinda frustrating since there is nothing around the hotel except for nightclubs and one shopping center that closes at 10 with limited options. The general feel of the hotel is VERY OLD, at least the apartment I was in had multiple issues including water leakage. As the rest of tunisia, the surrounding area is not well developed and looks kinda of appended. Hotel amenities: the hotel provides lots of services. Like parking, outdoor and indoor pools, beach access, laundry, and 3 restaurants. But I wouldn't give it 5 starts and probably my main complaint is the staff, they are just unwelcoming and unprofessional — again I might have come in a bad time, but they sure didn't give a good first impression — overall, for a business trip I was not happy. the room: usually when i'm traveling for business the room is the least of my concerns, but this time I was really worried. It was badly lit, the room was absolutely empty, no bathroom amenities at all — had to call for everything — and the killer was no DESK! yes I do work from my hotel room! so a desk is very important. No safe either. 32" TV with regular satellite — no cable TV, no VOD, no USB! — and the weirdest part ever, no drawers! a room with 0 drawers except in the kitchen! the pools & the beach: the outdoor pools were dried out for some reason, the indoor pool is more targeted toward kids with a big slider and less areas to swim. The beach — again I might have come in a bad time — but the beach was empty! no chairs, no people, no services nothing! it's not fully closed either — it's not a bad thing — but, because its not closed, you will find camels, horses and cars passing by right in front of the hotel beach, which is kinda of disturbing if you want to have a quiet time at the beach. tips: 1. There is a backdoor the leads to the shopping center 2. The sports center is open to the public for 40TND paid at the door 3. Parking is available both in front and in the back 4. Back door closes at 10 — must use front door for a business trip, its a no go for me, for a normal vacation, am sure you can find better options!
