Let me put it like this! If ur stuck in Tobago because Caribbean Airline messed up ur ticket and u had no choice but to stay somewhere instead of being robbed or killed u should stay here over night. Disorganized and lot of confusion! Because they didn’t have a single bed the owner told me to make sure I don’t use the other bed if I did I would get charged for another night!

CONVENIENT, welcoming, homely, easy access in walking to all activities. Bank, food, groceries, liming spots, beaches, along the avenue/strip lime-pubs etc. & airport access.

A great place to make as your "hub" for all to see and do in Tobago. Beaches are a short walk from this location as well the airport and dining options. Andrew is an outstanding host and he goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. I'll definitely stay here again when I return.

Andrew is a really friendly guy. The rooms are big and have air conditioning which is working fine. The kitchen is clean and there is enough room in the fridge for everybody. Andrew grows bananas in his yard and shares it with guests, those are really delicious. He is also always available if you need a suggestion on what to do.

Spacious, clean. Great for groups. Enjoyed every minute of my stay with a group of 18 young people They all enjoyed their stay at Candles. Andrew was very accommodating and friendly and helpful. He offered assistance beyond what we paid for.

The owner is very nice and humble.

This place is to me is good for weekend and one night stays or for those who don't care about the larvish life style.

After my dad died, I decided to go on a vacation in Tobago. My daughter in law did some investigations on the net and gave me a few choices. I chose Candles in the Wind, the quest house, because of what the name signifies to me; warmth, comfort and exquisite. And without a doubt I was not at all disappointed. From the outside it whispered welcome. The room I occupied was clean and tidy with a bed well-made and also a furnished kitchen, which I share with other guests. Mr. Andrew, it's owner was amiable, kind and friendly. So just in case you are looking for a home away from home, try Candles, you would not be disappointed.

Excellent guest house. Walking distance from the airport and 2 major beaches. Not to mention many local bars are obly a stone throw away. Mr Andrew is an excellent host and I will definitely recommend this to others.

As someone from Barbados, I know about the standard of hospitality that's set back at home. I went to candles in the wind with a school tour and we weren't sure what to expect. However, we were welcomed by Andrew, the owner of Candles in the wind and realised that his standard is the same as ours. Andrew is the very kind & friendly owner of Candles in the wind in Tobago, and after we checked in, he showed us to our rooms, which were very clean and comfortable and also had a working air conditioner, which we appreciated because of the hot weather. We all soon were settling in and getting acquainted with the surroundings of the property. I went with my team, and our rooms had four beds, and one Smart TV, capable of Chromecasting, where you can stream Netflix and YouTube among other programmes to the television. This just goes to show how much value is gotten for your money here. The kitchen facilities are very clean, the wall is very clean, and it's just a comfortable home. Candles in the wind has a shared kitchen and dining room area, which was great because we could prepare our meals and eat together, without having to go out to eat all the time at restaurants. The shower even had hot water, which not everyone in Tobago has in their guesthouses. Candles in the Wind is approx. A quick 6 minute walk to Pigeon Point Beach, and about 15 minute walk to beautiful Store Bay beach with many amazing eateries in the area.

From Pizza Boys, to the Pasta Gallery, to Scoops (the ice cream place), you can find it all.

Note that I'm reviewing this as a HOSTEL and NOT as a hotel, as I didn't stay in one of the hotel rooms. That said, this is easily one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. And I've stayed at well over 100 around the world. Where do I begin? -The "hostel" is really just a "converted" room in the attic with about 12 beds side by side. As bad as this was, the owner was planning on cramming in even MORE beds in time for Carnival (I believe he said over 20) -It's very HOT — even with fans — and has NO air con (nor plans to get any AC anytime soon). In fact, there's no sealant to the outside — the roof sits on top of bricks, and air from the outside goes both along that seam as well as through the holes in the bricks themselves. It's ridiculous. And that leads me to the next point: -I was eaten alive by mosquitoes. I wouldn't at all be surprised if I got the Zika virus. I tried sleeping fully clothed, but it didn't matter. Likewise, because I was so hot, sleeping in those closes made it even that much more uncomfortable. -The beds were AWFUL. More like large sponges on a wooden-slat frame. -The owner charges a fee of $5 per day to use the Wi-Fi. He tried justifying it by saying major hotel chains still charge for it. News flash: you're not a major luxury hotel chain. Bake the cost of Wi-Fi into the cost the same way literally every other hostel/hotel in the area covers it.

Fantastic place to experience the lovely island Tobago. Mr Andrew is very helpful and kind and always up for a chat. If one travels alone (also as a women) I can recommend this place. It is centrally located near the airport with lots of restaurants, food shops and tourist attractions nearby.

First I must say that this is the owner's home Andrew, he welcomes everyone. The rooms are spacious and airconditioned with fully equipped kitchen if you prefer to cook but eating places are just a few minutes away. Andrew makes a great cowheel soup also a great callaloo which is made from spinach "very healthy ". The beaches are minutes away from Candles. When you sit out in the patios, you can just feel that refreshing cool breeze. It's the right place for a great relaxing vacation. I'll go there anytime again and recommend Candles to family and friends.

Mr Andrew is warm and very friendly I'm most definitely be going there again love it there.

This was a great place to stay on a budget. The owner is friendly and helpful. The accommodations were clean and well maintained and is located in a quiet residential area but only 2 minutes walk from shops and restaurants. It has a kitchen and eating area on each level with a place to keep what you buy for groceries. It is super close to some decent restaurants. (not high end) just regular eats for people who want to chill and have a relaxed vacation. If you are looking for beach front this isn't the place for you but the walk to Storebay Beach (free) is around 5 minutes and to Pigeon Point Beach (paid) is around 10-15. Each room has it's own air con. It has lots of verandas to sit and enjoy the breeze, a book and a coffee. They don't accept credit card and you will be quoted in USD so bring the cash or you will have to get TTD from the RBC (which is also around the corner on the way to the beach). There weren't many guests when I was there so it was pretty really quiet but I'm sure that wouldn't be the case during Carnival. All in I was very happy with my stay. :).

It's good for a budget vacation.
