I'm not sure where to even start with this amazing hostel. From the moment you walk in you feel part of the family. Nicky is there straight away welcoming you along with luke who makes sure you know that if you need anything they are both more than willing to help. We started our stay with 6 days at the beginning of Feb, we had already booked a week in Phangan for the end of our stay in Koh Tao but we were devastated to leave and so ended up going back after and staying for another 10 days. Summer hostel hits all the marks when you're looking for what you need in a hostel, clean bathrooms and bedrooms (which is down to the hard working cleaners), lockers, a clean kitchen which has all the necessary facilities, great location and a supermarket right opposite which is open 24hours a day. But summer has something extra. You'll never find the common area empty, especially at night. Luke is on hand all day every day, ensuring people are enjoying their stay, getting people talking to others and at night he gets the drinking games going before everyone heads out together. You normally head out around 11pm which is also great if you do need a quiet night, you won't be disturbed. During the day you often get groups from the hostel going out together, whether it be to one of the beaches, the pool down the road or one of the beautiful view points koh tao has to offer. We also did 2 BBQ nights during our stay which was great for getting the hostel together again. When you're travelling away from home, you don't realise how much you sometimes need to be somewhere with such a warming, family feel. Summer is truly a home away from home which I will never forget. The two dogs who live here (buddy and ziggy) definitely help towards that, and the other 2 who frequently visit makes summer that little bit more cosy! One last massive mention to Nicky, Luke and the rest of the summer gang. For Nicky, I don't think you'll ever find a hostel owner who genuinely cares so much about her guests. She's your tour guide if you're not sure what to do, your doctor when you are feeling sick or have had an injury and also your friend. We made friends for life here in both the staff and other guests and so if you are looking for somewhere for your stay in Koh Tao you would be silly to not stay here.
