Review of Lanta Sand Resort & Spa 4*

I booked this hotel and had it cancelled 3.5 weeks before I as meant to arrive with no explanation. When I asked for assistance to stay somewhere else I was also told that other customers who has booked to stay there in 3 days time also had their rooms cancelled and they were helping them. I was then brushed off and was told they couldn't help as many places were closed and they couldn't recommend anywhere. I found this disappointing and wrote a review on Trip Advisor. After I wrote my short review regarding the cancellation I got bombarded with emails from the owner (as I had given my email during the booking process). She called my lonely, old, told me she was going to warn whatever place I stayed at in Thailand that I was coming, told me to go internet dating (as I was travelling solo as my partner at that stage wasn't coming). If you see my review headed "All set to go and then cancelled" there was nothing personal about it, just a comment about it being cancelled. The owner ended up telling me (after abusing me) that the property was broken into and the guests all had their belongings stolen so they were upgrading. Clearly not a safe place to stay. Lack of security. Not sure what upgrades they are doing for their security. However the manager made a point of telling me she was upgrading for me, not her. Which made me ponder — isn't it an inherent responsibility of accommodation to make sure your belongings are reasonably safe? After the abuse I received I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you look at other negative feedback online you will see this accommodation responds by attacking. I therefore don't think they would be very gracious to guests staying there if there was an issue. I have no doubt once this review is read I will receive another tirade of emails and abuse but I think customers should know what to expect when things go wrong. Had they have handled things differently I may have asked Trip Advisor to remove my post. Instead I have had to email them regarding the abuse and stalking behaviour of the owner. Unbelievable for someone in customer service.
