This is my go-to hostel in Chiang Mai. Beds are clean, cheap, good quality. The staff speaks good English and are very helpful. I always stay in the mixed 12-person dormitories and each bed is very private (partial wood wall to the hallway and enclosed against other beds), has a light, outlet, and small shelf. It is very centrally located at the heart of old city, so easy to walk anywhere within the city walls. It is also at one end of the Sunday Night Walking Street market.

Very clean, good location — right next to Sunday Walking Street-, delicious breakfast. I stayed in the 4-bed female dorm. Bed was ok, not the most comfortable pillow tho. Clean and enough bathrooms, the doors sounded a lot though and you could hear it from the room. Another thing I really didnt’t like were the personal bed lights! They were too bright and if another guest won’t turn it off till midnight you won’t get enough darkness to sleep. I would stay again but definitely not in a dorm.

My first time at a hostel and this place was so welcoming. I met a lot of friendly people here and it was a warm/clean environment. The staff is awesome and kind. Shoutout to Mac even though he's only there for a short time and Pam! Plus all the other staff members who always smile and chat with you will come back if I return to Chiang Mai.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the breakfast was good! The only disadvantage is that there is a smell on the first floor, a reception of a counter is less patient.

Green sleep is a wonderful hostel in the center of Chiang Mai in a quiet little alley. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, rooms and facilities are very clean and the common room creates an inviting atmosphere. Breakfast is very good and varied. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!

Friendly friendly staff, clean and comfortable hostel, comfy beds and nice AC. Very little hot water after 9pm. The bunk beds and ceilings are high so you don't feel cramped on bottom bunk at all. Possibly THE hostel with the largest beds! Breakfast consists of boiled eggs, bread and croissant, jam and butter, pineapple, papaya, watermelon, orange juice, milk, water and instant coffee. I stayed at a 6 mixed room for my first two nights, then switched to 4-female room for 4 nights. The 6 mixed feels crowded, room feels smaller, definitely noisier and unsure why the windows are opened, earplugs are necessary! Guys will use the girls washroom on this floor because they don't care. And drunk guys will vomit on the floor, no joke. The 4-females room is located on the fourth floor, the 4 people room is much more spacious and no guys to use the bathroom here. I highly recommend booking the girls room!

Really good and clean hostel. Very friendly staff. The breakfast is included — simple but hood one. It is just nice to spend time in reception hall talking to other backpackers, you dont even notice the time passing by. They have some PC if you want to book a flight and print something and you can do loundry also.

A wow for this one. For a hostel sharing a room with 3 strangers from all over the world, very neat and stunning helpful staff. Location central and easy access to everything. Loved the place. Amazing experience.

Great bed and fantastic bathrooms for a hostel! Loved the good quality of the bread for breakfast and the perfect temperature in the bedrooms! And obviously the friendly staff!

This is my 4th time staying at Green Sleep Hostel and the only place I stay in Chiang Mai Old City (besides Green Sleep Hotel). The staff is great, beds are comfy, everything is clean, and price is hard to beat. Would recommend to everyone and have had many friends stay and share the same exceptional experience. Pam and Mon are the best! A++++

Perfectly clean. The breakfast is very good, not exsailing but very sufficient. Yes questions, the staff helps you, but if you don't, they don't recommend anything, at least that's what I saw even though I saw a lot of good reviews about the staff. One of the girls is badly faced and go several times I see that someone greets her and she neither in mind, nor do you turn to see. But if you go to what you go (breakfast, take a shower and sleep), it's fine!

Very well located inside the old city, quite modern and clean. Also well insulated and quiet. The breakfast was plentiful and good. Recommended.

A great option to stay in Chiang Mai! Nice hostel with lovely atmosphere, great crew, clean rooms and common areas, and a very good included breakfast. Location is perfect, as it is pretty near to main streets and you can reach the main spots of the city by foot. It was so easy to meet amazing people and make new friends here!

The location is good. The room is real clean, and the beds… OMG. It was 6stars-rated. I could just stay in bed all day long if I had nothing to do… Staffs are friendly and always happy to help. You can rent the bikes for 4hours and it's free of charge. Overall is good, but it's not a perfect accommodation for solo-traveler to meet new people. People doing their own things and you can't see anyone really socializing in the common area… so it's quite too lol.

I loved everything, people, place, location…

This is my first hostel in my life and it is great! Staffs are so nice, the room and bathroom are very clean. I will recommend my friends to stay here if they come to Chiang Mai.

Comfortable living environment, like in the home of the warm and clean, the counter service is very considerate and cordial, incredibly to 12:00 people are in. Near the ancient city of the egg yolk area, the location is quite good, especially to go to the Sunday night market, walk out to reach. Breakfast diversity, full of green space, the hostel!

Best hostel ever! There is absolutely nothing to complain about! The beds are above average size with super comfy bedding. The dorms in general are really bright and open, you actually don't feel like you're in a dorm. Facilities are nice and clean, hair dryer, cotton swabs and hair ties for the girls. The staff is AMAZING and always friendly and helpful! My girlfriend and were kind of long term guest as we loved this place so much. Breakfast with fresh croissants, bread, cereals, fruits and drinks is included and really good! This place has a really nice atmosphere and you can easily get in contact with other travellers. Staffs were nice, they let us borrow their shower before we left for our flight (It helps a lot in May of Thailand) Location is perfect for backpackers, the only thing that bothered us was the sound insulation were not that good.

Only its location is the best… others are bad. — Lack of front desk at night. — Dont have blanket cover for changing. — Our room cannot lock the door. — Poor security control. — Don't have clear neccessary information in each floor such as reduce noise at night.

Immaculately clean dorms. Good complimentary breakfast. Amazing location. Staff goes out of their way to help you out with anything you need. It was one of the best things about my stay in Chiang Mai. Highly recommended for solo travellers.

They were so helpful and nice to us. We were tourists not staying with them and they let us sit and told us stuff to do. They let us use their bathroom and was so hospitable to us. Would definitely recommend their staff here. Just very nice people. The area is not bad too.

Very clean and quirky hostel. The staff was VERY helpful with booking tours and giving us ideas for what to do around town. The rooms had AC, which was nice. It was be a bit noisy at times, but I have come to expect that in a hostel. The location was great — quiet but in the middle of the old city. They had bikes and scooters to rent and a nice light breakfast every morning with fresh fruit and baked goods.

Nothing wrong with that. Especially the shared bathrooms are almost too big, and always very clean.

This well site, clean and care, help you in whatever you need, the breakfast poor, but that's ok, much better than some of bangkok.

I've been to three 9+ rated hostels in Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai), and many others across different countries. This is by far the best. Great facilities, even better staff and service. The hostel set-up is very friendly, with the common area well lit and smelling fresh (small details matter) ; I easily made friends here. The hostel has comfy beds, clean bathrooms, and is right in the middle of the main square. A bonus is that it is less than 15 minutes away fr…om the airport. Thom, the owner, is incredibly helpful and kind, and so are all of the staff members here. I came to Chiang Mai with general ideas of what to do and, with their help, ended up a full itinerary, including: rock climbing; elephant bathing and feeding; riding up to Doi Suthep to see the sunrise; eating Northtern Thai food; getting a massage; and practicing Muay Thai… all in 3 days. Possibilities are endless. I would not have been able to have had this great of a time without the staff's help which — besides the already excellent characteristics of this hostel — is the one thing I find most important in any place you stay. Having traveled to many cities and countries, I would love to come back to Chiang Mai and live here in this hostel.

I'm still staying at the hostel but I needed to write the review already. The reason: I love it so much! And I want to spread the word rather sooner then later! I stood in a single room and in the dorm as well. I actually like the dorms more than the single ones. They are super cute, clean and quite big. So you have a lot of space for yourself.
The staff is so friendly and great. They help you out anytime and make your stay feel like you are at a friends place. And everything… for a decent price!
Besides that — the hostel is in the middle of the old town which in my opinion is the best area to stay in Chiang Mai. Everything is close by especially by foot. You can borrow scooters and bikes at the hostel to get around. If you rather take the red cabs it's not a problem at all — the hostel is super close to some main buildings the driver will always know.
The only small thing I would criticize — the walls are quite thin. If you are a rather light sleeper you might wanna use ear plugs. All in all a great place to stay. I would book myself in again when I come back to CM.

First time staying here, very clean, staff very helpful, the rooms have air conditioning, but also quiet. And the Breakfast is very good Forgot to mention, the bike is free to use, benefits! There is also a benefit, next to a Cantonese tea restaurant“in Hong Kong good luck to”, although the ratio of Hong Kong that house the taste the difference between some, but want to drink porridge, then, here a bowl of very comfortable.
