Staff were very friendly, helpful and hard working. Hotel was clean and bed comfortable. But LOUD music on Tuesdays and Wednesdays? Seriously? We are on the second floor, and it is on the rooftop. NOT impressed. We have a 3am flight and have to leave the hotel at midnight. Not getting any rest before. Did I mention the morning noise from the courtyard. Do not stay here if you are looking for a restful quiet stay.

It was a lovely place in Zanzibar and exelent service with friendly staff. Highly recomanded. We had an awesome time there.

It's a beautiful and Best hotel in Zanzibar.

This time round I was disappointed. My uncle had to change room 3 times. No briefing on check in, no Wi-Fi passwords issued, the food was the worst. Under Carnivore section theres a chicken dish that is described as something good but reality is cold, hard dry chicken with no mushroom sauce. The only good constant is the wait staff.
Next time I will just stick to Indian food, at least there there's consistency.

I had brunch of vegatales and watermelon juice.
it was rather expensive, but when I queried the cost it was reduced.

This hotel is awesome from the beginning till the service is superb they are so friendly (waiters, housekeepings, front office) keep it up guys.

Great hôtel, very beautiful, room are clean and lovely. The restaurant is good. The rooftop view is top! Perfectly located near the best street on stone town. Remember to be lost in those street to visit the best of stone town.

Nice place however the entrance needs some. Improvement! ruins everything having to walk across dumpsters that overflow with garbage! as well rooms below the restaurant get quite noisy!

The restaurant, rooms and facilities are very nice. The room service works great as they make your bed, spray down the room for insects and provide water every day. If you eat vegetarian expect a lot of Indian food. I think the personalized direct service gets lost in the amount of employees. We did not feel "special" or "noticed".

I liked the rooms, but there is no room service.
Der was problem with the air-condition, but the staff immediately changed the room.
Food is ok, not tat great.
Coffee shop service very slow & they don't understand what the customer wants.

Very well located close to the main points of interest of StoneTown, the hotel's architecture is Oriental, around a typical patio, clean and functional rooms, rooftop pool restaurant, good breakfast, decent restaurant, we stayed 3 days with great pleasure.

The hotel is amazing! The rooms are very spacious and they have so much to offer from a restaurant to a coffee shop/bakery (with brownie waffles! ). They even have a tennis court. It's a great place and just a bit off the beaten path, located behind the old fort. Highly recommend stopping in for just a snack if you don't spend the night!

Room was comfortable but hotel extremely noisy, live music echos into rooms, staff VERY noisy, unable to sleep, breakfast below average, staff unfriendly, unpleasant atmosphere.

Its a clean and nice hotel but the food is not that good. I am from the US and decided to try their food. I tried the pizza and the pasta, it did not taste that good, it lacked flavour and the pizza was very soggy. I would not recommend the food. About the stay I have not stayed here so I cant say.

Very nice terrace on the top floor with a panoramic view of stonetown, restaurant open to all.

Annoying music played loudly during dinner, dishonest manager trying to over charge drinks which does not exist… Small rooms, average breakfast… Swimming pool services runs only from 9am to 7pm… Poor Wi-Fi in rooms… only advantage is the central location. We won't send our clients again.

Lovely but staff has gone back wards… waited 30 min to get a drink maybe needs better management.

Recommended as the best place to eat in Stone Town. Took 40mins for chicken tikka pieces, daal, and a naan bread. Somehow the chicken arrived cold.

We booked our hotelrooms 6 months before our visit (prepaid). But when we arrived they had ”overbooked” our rooms to someone more important.
We were very dissapointed, and they laughed at us and were very rude.
They sent us to another hotel (in a LOWER standard). And We didnt get any money back. We were fooled by this hotel.
They also promised to fix our transfer to the airport from the new hotel, but did the transfer come? NO ofcourse not because they lied all the time.
So do yourself a favour and choose another more serious hotel!

Superb meal, good cocktails and a stunning view.

I love the location of the hotel. Nearby alot of Stone towns attractions. The staff were so good and friendly. They were very helpful and had a lot of tips for tourists like me. The rooms were good however, I would not advice travellers to pick rooms located on the third floor. The terrace and restaurant is located above the third floor. When the staff are arranging or re-arranging the tables late at night or early morning it can get really noisy.

Disgusting. Guests were SMOKING in non-smoking rooms! The guest in the room next door to ours was playing loud music till late and SMOKING in his room which was separated by a locked door from ours. The whole hotel is non-smoking and the smell coming from this door made our room horrible. After 5 phone calls to reception when nothing was done, we eventually walked down to reception in the rain at 11pm to demand to be moved. They moved us to a room only 3 doors away and asked us to move our bags also as they needed the room that night. The next morning at 7.30am we woke up to the sound of them only just now cleaning the old room, no one had stayed there all night! They LIED to us and we had to move our bags at 11.30pm, when no one used the old room all night, and now all our belongings are totally chaotic (and smelling of smoke). I also point out that at NO POINT did they knock on the neighbouring room to challenge him over the smoking. Hotel policy seems to be to inconvenience the other guests over enforcing a strict no smoking policy.

Only visited the rooftop terrace. Amazing view over Stonetown and the sea. Chill music. Cola $2

Loved our stay here. Fantastic location in the city and a great rooftop restaurant with a pool. Live music every evening and a good selection of food and drinks. The rooms are great and staff is friendly too. The management is really friendly too and checks in on you personally. Few of the rooms are a bit small and the Wi-Fi is a bit slow. The management and chefs are great but the service staff can do better! Definitely consider staying here!

Came to chill at the pool on the roof and have some drinks. Service was very slow but we attributed it to 'island time. ' Good vibe, decent food, great place to watch the sunset.

Within the center of stone town… one of the good hotels and the view is awesome at the rooftop.

In the middle of Stone Town Zanzibar. Everything within walking distance. Good upper deck to watch the sun go down or rise. Food was pretty good and the rooms spacious, clean and quiet.

I must say, we did not expect to get the service we received at Maru Maru Hotel in Zanzibar. My family and I loved the cordial service we received and the view from the rooftop was breathtaking. We are planning another trip to Zanzibar next year and we shall definitely be staying at the Maru Maru Hotel in Zanzibar. Try it out and you won't regret it. Just thought I would write a review after the excellent service we received from these guys. Keep it up.

I stayed at the Maru Maru Hotel only for one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was nice and clean. Don't miss the roof-top bar during sunset! It is located very central, just behind the "House of Wonders". Most points of interest are within walking distance and easily accessible.
