Sun Moon Tea B&B

This small hotel has such a great vibe. The decor is welcoming and calming. The owner gave me a couple samples of her wonderful tea upon arrival and was very welcoming. The room was beautiful and clean. The location was very convenient on the Main Street a short walk from the bus stop and tourist info in the 7-11, yet it was quiet inside and I felt like I was removed from the busy street. I am glad I chose this place to stay during my visit to sun-moon lake.

This accommodation far exceeded my expectations, both in terms of the room and the service. The owner's (maybe) very friendly and provided a lot of great travel information. Finally, what I loved most was the scent of tea inside the property.

Location is great, steps from where the bus dropped us off. Preston that greeted us was FANTASTIC! She was incredibly helpful with buses and getting us boat tickets and very friendly.
We had an interior room (no window), nice but the shower door didn't close and the AC made a weird noise (couldn't hear it through earplugs though).

We had a wonderful stay at Sun Moon Tea B&B — easily the best place we stayed during our trip to Taiwan!
Wendy was such a kind and welcoming host. We arrived really early, but she let us check in right away and even treated us to delicious welcome teas (the sweet black tea is a must-try! ). She also upgraded us to a bigger room for free, which was such a nice surprise.
Wendy gave us great tips on what to do in the area and recommended some fantastic restaurants nearby — some even had English and also vegetarian menus.
The room was super clean and had everything we needed. Highly recommend staying here!

Excellent location, spacious room, and an amazing host.
The B&B rooms are located above a tea shop, which smells amazing, that is just a few minutes away from a bus stop, ferry pier, and trails.
As part of a stay the host provides a packed breakfast, including delicious tea, and a voucher for dinner at a local restaurant.
My only regret is that I merely stayed for two nights.
However, the only bus bound directly for Alishan starts it's route next door. So that was very convenient.

I loved my stay here! The owner was incredibly kind, and the room was spotless and well-organized. It was also very spacious, and I really appreciated the thoughtful layout. Our room was divided into three levels: the first two were bedrooms, and the third housed the restrooms with showers.
I also loved how it was just a three-minute walk to the pier, which offered stunning views of the mountains. The owner had incredible tea, spoke English fluently, and even recommended activities around the lake, which was super helpful. Everything about this stay was perfect—I’d definitely come back!

The owner of the place was very charming and welcoming. She advised and helped us with everything we needed. The hotel is in an excellent location, clean and pleasant to stay in.

Very nice hotel! The host went to extra lengths to make our stay as pleasant as possible. She even helped us reserve a seat on the bus to Alishan.

Booked a quadruple room for a weeknight stay in July 2024. Very responsive host & hospitable service. We were able to checkin early (1pm), and were served tea at checkin. We originally booked the no window quad, but the upgraded quad room with window & tub was available that the host allowed us to choose. However, we stuck with the original no window room since it had a couch.
Room was a good size with sufficient space to open up larger luggage. Cabinets and counter space was also available for placing belongings.
Disposable amenities not provided, but soap, shampoo, and conditioner available in the shower.
Coupons were provided for slight discount on bike rentals across the street.
Food: coupons provided for dinner at a nearby aboriginal restaurant. Coupons + 400NT covered 4 full dinner meal sets with drinks. Breakfast was delivered in a picnic basket at 8:30am. The meal was just ok, but the tea was delicious — peach oolong was especially fragrant. Some of their tea bags were also provided in the room. We bought some additional tea to take home, and were also given 2 of the ready made tea bottles for free.
Although there was no view of the lake, the b&b was right next to the main bus station, and not too far from the wharf.
No laundry for guest use was available on site, but usable laundry was not too far of a walk away.
Wi-Fi was slow — unable to stream shows.

We enjoyed our stay at this super friendly hotel.
The entrance is a tea shop on the Main Street and an exquisite smell of Oolong wafts up through the hotel corridors.
The lady who runs the place is so kjnd. She took the trouble to What’s App us vegetarian restaurant recommendations. There is a lovely little place diagonally across the street with an English menu.
The hotel doesn’t do breakfasts but they will point out a place which is again across the street.
Wi-Fi fast; lovely water machines on each floor; very clean, modern and spacious rooms with Smart TV (Netflix possible).
We loved our corner room with two queen beds. Complete with a wooden traditional bath tub.

Our most memorable accomodation during our holiday in Taiwan. The scent of tea coupled with the tasteful decorations made for an inviting welcome. The place is clean and spacious. The host was extremely friendly and considerate. She helped us make many tour and transport arrangements and provided excellent recommendations and suggestions. We will definitely be back again if we visit Sun Moon Lake in future.

I have to give credit to my elderly parents for finding this little gem on Agoda. They said this Sun Moon Tea B&B had rave reviews with high scores and I absolutely agree.
I was curious about what people had to say about this place on Trip Advisor, and sure enough, this B&B got high scores as well. But, there were only 10 reviews and the last review was back in 2019. So I decided to give this place an updated review that it deserves.
This B&B is indeed a local family owned operation. For 2 nights and 3 days I stayed, I saw the owner/ hostess in the lobby helping all the time. Even though it's listed as B&B, the service, decor, and amenities easily rival high end boutique hotel in the United States, if it had a larger scale of operation. Cleanliness is a top priority for us and this place was immaculately clean and the bedding was very comfortable with Hyatt style white bedding blanket and sheets.
You have all the usual necessities in the guest room with cookies and peach oolong tea bags procured by their own tea store. The wooden japanese bath tub was a plus after a day of hiking.
If you purchased the breakfast package, then you will get a basket of home made, high quality, healthy Asian breakfast in a picnic basket for you to take back to your room to enjoy.
For those of you who read Japanese, there is review from a traveler who gave excellent detailed review of this B&B hotel back in 2019. Everything she mentioned is still valid until today.
