Warm welcome, professional and very friendly staff, delicious meals, perfect geographical location, access to secure parking, direct proximity to the lake, spacious and clean room; I highly recommend this place! I think this may be my new favourite hotel. Every detail is considered and every need is catered for. My 13 year old son and I have just spent 4 nights at this beautiful hotel and have been made to feel so welcome and looked after. I can’t wait to return.

Well deserved 5 star. Classic hotel. Good parking garage under the hotel. The bathing area at the lakeside were just sublime. Extra cudos to the friendly staff.

Just fantastic. The location, the food, the suite and most important :the staff, reception, concierge, waiters in the various restaurant etc are highly devoted to the customers and make you feel like at home. Over the last 20 years I stayed here many time on business or private and I was always very very much happy and satisfied. Thank you all, you are doing great.

The hotel is beautiful with its gardens, bars and spa! The whole team was very nice. The food was fantastic! And we even got an upgrade; a sequel instead of a mini suite! Looking forward to the next time.

VIlla Castagnola is a very nice hotel. Its heritage goes back 120 years, when this neighbourhood of Lugano was still an upscale suburb. The premises have been renovated and while the salons on the ground floor retain an early 20th century feel, the rooms and exterior decor look more 60s renovation. The hotel has a nice garden with luscious palm trees, but the problem is that Lugano has grown around it, and not necessarily in a pretty way. The view on the lake and Monte San Salvadore is pretty, but the neighbouring buildings are tall and remarkably ugly. So is the infamous casino of Campione on the other shore, an insane slab of concrete which is a crime against scenery. The other problem with the location is that the coastal road leading to lake Como is right in front of the garden, and can be remarkably noisy, especially when a parade of Harley Davidson bikers invades the town. If you are looking for piece and quiet, you may be disappointed. We had a suite on the fourth floor. It was very clean and in excellent condition, with a vast living room, two balconies, two bathrooms and a small bedroom. I would criticize two things, especially at this price level: tiny twin beds with a wide separation in the middle, and green moss growing on the awning of the balcony which did not look quite right. Service was nice, but not faultless. We pulled up to unload our luggage and … nobody showed up.
