Excellent steak tartar with friendly service. Beautiful interior with a lot of 'history' of the first ascent of the Matterhorn. If it's good enough for Edward Whymper then it's good enough for me! On my short list of Christmas day lunch venues for 2019

The oldest hotel in Zermatt. In my opinion, it has been skilfully renovated and still preserves the patina of bygone times. Rooms and bathrooms are up-to-date and the old cupboards, beds and desk are reminiscent of old eras. We had received an upgrade for a room with Matterhorn view for free. A big compliment to the cleaning women: rarely was my room cleaned up with so much love and sense of detail!

In the Hotel Monte Rosa, Edward Whymper has already stayed in before he has the first man to climb the Matterhorn. The atmosphere in the house is great — it's the tall story you can explore and at the same time, the house impresses with absolute high quality.

Phenomal location, service and amenities.

My 9-year old boy and myself had a great time. The only thing missing to make the hotel perfect is to have a taxi ride to the 2 main lifts every am. Hotel staff is gorgeous. Hope to be back soon.

Enjoy the evening in the cosy parlour with a meal with friends. Easy to recommend.

If you stay in Zermatt you must stay in this hotel or at least enjoy an evening in Edwards Bar.

Do good to the guests* this is still lived in the monte rosa even after 150 years. We had a wonderful stay and were very spoiled. A very nice hotel with great ambience, highly recommended.

We have been to the Monte Rosa three years ago. It was great then and as good this time. In a nutshell Friendly staff. Lovely rooms. Excellent breakfast. Great position.

I have stayed at many hotels, some with names like Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, and Mandarin Oriental. The Monte Rosa is right up there with those names, and in many aspects, exceeds them. It is an exceptional hotel and a highly recommend it to anyone visiting Zermatt.

We loved our week at Monte Rosa, we were so impressed by the staff especially on reception who could not been more attentive and helpful. Our room was beautiful and the service by housekeeping was exceptional — we would highly recommend the hotel to anyone! We were also very impressed by the dine around programme — we ate wonderfully and not having to worry about taking money to pay each evening made life even easier.

A worthwhile journey. Under one roof combines modernity and tradition.

Lovely family style luxury hotel with a very cosy bar. Expect spacious rooms and a hotel run to luxury standards. As with everything in Zermatt, it's pricy. But by far the nicest hotel.

Had Dinner here, very cool historic hotel withr a cool old bar that has seen it's share of Alpine Hstory, food was good, service excellent.
