Review of Stil Los Gigantes 4*

It’s our second to last night here and from the moment we got off the plane tui were disorganised and disappointing. We got off the plane and the reps sent us to the wrong hotel — Sensatori not Sensimar which is where we were booked. We double checked on the coach we were going to the right place and were told ‘sometimes it’s called different names’. Despite checking three times we got there to check in and were understandably embarrassed to be told we were at the wrong hotel, we then had to pay for our own taxi to the actual hotel we were staying in where no one offered to reimburse the cost. The dinner and breakfast service is dreadful, although some of the staff are friendly, others are rude and clumsy. Numerous times where wine and water was brought to the table without being corked or a bottle cap not being removed whilst we longingly stare at our drinks hoping for someone to come back so we can get into it! The food isn’t great, and runs out quickly, at breakfast make sure you get there early morning as they don’t replenish juice glasses so you will need to drink out of mugs. Also check to hold onto your plates as they tend to be taken from you whilst still eating! Prior to booking we were informed of the dress code and of course, packed accordingly. Tonight they decided to change this and embarrassed my fiancé shoving a sign in her face saying her smart white shorts were not allowed in as she couldn’t wear denim shorts. We shamefully walked back to the room so she could change, as we came back we saw other people have been allowed into the restaurants with extremely revealing tops and shorts much shorter than my fiancé’s. A dress code is not something to complain about if informed prior to packing, or at least if the food matches the quality to warrant it. Also note there is construction on the second pool, meaning half of it it out of bounds decking wise (again, uninformed of this) Although there is a no bed reservation policy this doesn’t seem to be seen through so ensure you get down before 8am seeing as there’s a lack of beds as it is. Lastly, towels in the room and bath mat still left to be changed after nearly a week of being here. We were looking at booking SENSIMAR again as in theory it is great and the rooms are nice and the reps do have a lot to offer but unfortunately this experience has turned us off completely.
