The hotel complex of the Red Level Gran Melia Palacio de Isora is architecturally really successful and actually also maintained. The staff is mostly friendly but totally overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, we do not think of more positive at the moment. We had been given a downstairs room overlooking the gardens. The room was already very busy and not particularly clean. All rooms are equipped with shower, bathtub, 2 sinks, toilet, bidet, minibar, Nesspresso vending machine, plasma TV, alarm clock and a high-quality phone. Holding handles for older people are not present in the sanitary facilities. During the first use of the Nesspresso machine, we exchanged the water present in the vending machine for bottled drinking water. After we opened the cupboard where the cups, glasses and Nesspresso capsules are kept, a disgusting indefinable bitter smell came to us. The cups could not be used without rinsing beforehand.
After that, we also no longer used the machine and were able to determine, based on the filling height of the water, that in 14 days not even the water was replaced. After the first use of the bidet, the toilet system was flooded due to a leakage on the pipe. However, the error was immediately rectified. On the second day, a horde of small ants made its way over my suitcase. After reporting, we were offered a basic cleaning or other room on a higher floor. We chose the basic cleaning and the ants had disappeared afterwards, but dust and dirt continued to exist.
On the 6th day, I was greeted early in the morning in the bathroom by a cockroach that escaped at high speed toward the shower.
Because of my bad karma caused by the hotel, I killed the poor animal and reported the incident at the front desk.
The staff did not seem particularly surprised and offered us a higher-quality room in the 4th floor with Jacuzzi and sea views.
Since we can't really do anything with a Jacuzzi and all rooms are otherwise identical, we chose a new basic cleaning with chamber hunters and came across badly dented faces. (Most guests probably like such a bribe are well received. )
The basic cleaning with chamber hunters yielded the same result as the previous cleaning. Insects done, rooms continue to get dirty.
We had only booked breakfast as we explored the island all day with a rental car. Breakfast was ok, but it was always hard to get a second cup of coffee.
We actually wanted to book the rental car in question at the hotel, but the price seemed far too high for us. We then received an equivalent vehicle in a nearby travel agency for over 200 euros cheaper. The almost new vehicle with only 1200 km of mileage was brought to our hotel after only 20 minutes by the landlord Las Rosas and picked up again at the end of the rental period.
The prices for minibar, laundry, gastronomy and bars are very expensive and not suitable for this hotel. As a Red Level guest, you have the opportunity to drink your frustration every evening from 18:00 every evening with free spirits, wine and Spanish sparkling wine from the lower price range for an hour.
We took the opportunity from time to time, feeding the many birds in front of the terrace with some pieces of walnut.
However, we were banned from feeding the birds after a few days and we did not use this "great service" any further.
As a conclusion to the mentioned and numerous unnamed defects, there are only 2 stars from us for the beautiful hotel complex. Red Level is only worthwhile for visitors who roam by the pool all day and enjoy free snacks and drinks.
