SOL by Meliá Barbados

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights.
I never write reviews but thought I would on this occasion.
Rooms — the rooms were clean and a decent size, however the beds were rock solid I stayed on floor 3 with a main pool view. There was a sofa bed which I ended up sleeping on the whole time which was a bit better however I did end up coming home with a bad back. The rooms were cleaned daily, with new towels included. The hair dryer didn’t work properly kept turning off after about 1 min. Nothing included in the fridge, no kettle in the room either. Overall, wasn’t bad just the beds let it down.
Pools — Main pool was really big, lots of beds so didn’t have to worry about finding one, also a smaller pool next to it for children.
The child pool on — 2 at by the sports bar is really good for children, also daily snacks at the sport bar until 6pm.
Food/drinks — personally the drinks weren’t for me way to sweet for the cocktails nothing fancy, not iced coffee but the hot coffee was fine. The food wasn’t amazing either but made doo, ended up going out for food most of the time.

The perfect family holiday! We have just got back from visiting and I had to leave a fantastic review.
The hotel is really clean and tidy and perfect for families. It was a lot bigger and modern than I had envisioned. We was all inclusive and so glad we did, the food was amazing, so much choice and variety, the staff were constantly bringing out fresh plates of food. We all had a few courses at each meal time. The snack bar near the pool was fab for grabbing chips or a burger. The drinks choice was also great in the bar, Prosecco, cocktails, slush drinks, you name it they would make it, the drinks were strong not watered down at all. The hotel rooms were basic but had everything you need, we had a sofa bed in our room and a little balcony. There was an issue with our shower drain and the staff were quick to fix it. My son loved the kids disco on an evening and the swimming pools were fab for the kids or there was a separate one for the adults. We managed to get a subbed every day and it wasn’t too busy.
On our last evening we took a short 10 minute walk to magaluf which was lovely this time of year as it was out of season.
I was so pleasantly surprised with our holiday and we will definitely be returning! Thank you for an amazing family holiday!

I had an amazing solo holiday at this hotel. The food was great, the staff is very friendly and it's a very good location next to the beach.
Only downside was the poor Wi-Fi signal, but other than that it was great.

Just got back this morning from a 4 night stay at Sol Barbados with my partner and 3yo. We had a lovely time, the hotel is lovely and good for kids. We spent every day at the kids pool which my son loved every minute of, he also loved the kids entertainment disco at night. The entertainment staff were great with the kids. Our room was clean and tidy, although one thing I would say we didn’t like was that you don’t get clean cups in your room every day, we had the same cups from our first day which are paper ones by the way so not very nice to reuse (we had to take some from the cleaning trolleys ourselves) as couldn’t keep reusing the same cups. Also the room didn’t have kettle, the safe box didn’t work and air con didn’t work great at all.
Only other thing, which I’ve seen in a previous review. Is that we found some of the Spanish guests quite rude, pushing into ques at lifts/bar, a lot of the Spanish children were running around without adults a lot of the time and playing with the lifts kept going up and down from level 12 to 0 and wouldn’t let us in lift when it got to our level, also some kids at the disco weren’t very nice kept pushing my 3 year old son over. But over all this wasn’t the hotel fault and I found the hotel staff were all lovely and helpful. I wasn’t expecting the hotel to be as nice as it was so I was pleasantly surprised, and would also consider returning. We had a great holiday.

Just returned from a family holiday which included 3 kids aged 9, 7 and 5 and they did not want to leave. The entertainment staff were amazing with them. They couldn't wait for the kids club and the kids entertainment at night.
The pools are fantastic for them and there was always something going on during the day that they could take part in.
The food and drink and pretty standard all inclusive. We always found something to eat. Not a fan of the drinks being served in paper cups but I guess it makes sense when people are drinking outside.
Our rooms were spotless and had everything we needed. My only gripe being they put us on the 10th floor with small kids when I though it would make more sense to have kids on lower floors. They did say they might be able to move us after the 1st night but it didn't seem worth the hassle. Reception staff were very helpful to be fair.
My complaint with this holiday (and it's not specifically the hotel's fault) is that this year we noticed the utter distain that Spanish people have toward us Brits. A large amount of the Spanish holiday makers in the hotel were extremely rude. There wasn't a queue they wouldn't skip if they saw a line of British people waiting in it.
It was especially bad at the lifts. Pushing in front or barging into the lifts before people had come out.
They were skipping little kids waiting at the bar for juice which sadly, a few of the bar staff allowed to happen.

Avoid this hotel. I arrived back from this hotel on Monday, Don’t get me wrong the hotel was clean and staff was friendly we had a incident where the room next door was smoking cannabis and we requested to change rooms and they did sort it very quickly. The food was not great it was always the same food every day for breakfast dinner and tea the food was always cold no options for kids / baby’s. If you leave early in morning the continental breakfast was only biscuits and cakes, couldn’t have the toaster or cereal. The entertainment was terrible they did a kids disco before all entertainment which was good for the kids but the adult entertainment didn’t start till 21:45 every night. I Wouldn’t book this holiday again.

Ignore all the poor reviews!
My wife's been fretting for weeks about our stay because of the bad reviews lately — from our experience they're unwarranted.
Is this a 4 star hotel like that in the UK? No. Is there anything bad about this hotel? Not so far.
Rooms are a big enough size, clean, semi modern. Communal areas are clean and tidy, easy enough to get your way around.
Beach is a 3 minute walk away with pedalos, loungers etc for hire.
Food has been amazing for every meal we've had — far more choice than any hotel we've ever stayed in before. Drink measures are insane and plenty to keep the kids going in between main meals.
Staff have all been pleasant and accommodating.
That's about all you need from a holiday!
Ignore all the Karen's leaving poor reviews — they're the same people who would complain if you paid off their mortgage for them.
If you're in any doubt — book! For what we have paid for flights and accomodation this is our best value holiday of all time.

Had a really nice week at this hotel. I read the reviews before booking & before coming. Please ignore all the negative reviews. I found this hotel very nice. The room I had was clean and tidy and offered everything I needed. The pools are amazing ideal for adults and kids. This hotel suits all ages and circumstances. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. The safes in room are free so a bounus! The food is your usual standard All inclusive for hotels. No shortage of choice. At breakfast only negative bacon and sausage could have been a bit warmer. But all tasted fine. All though I book all inclusive I do like to eat out 2/3 nights that’s my choice for something different. I like the all inclusive for the convenience. The hotel is located perfectly, two minutes down the steps and your on to the beach. Again can’t fault the staff or the service they provide. People who fault this hotel must be living on a different planet! Another plus is wristbands activate your room door so you don’t have to worry about losing key card.

Great family hotel. Entertainment staff were amazing. The kids loved the water slides and inflatables. Great variety of food on all inclusive, loved the help yourself soft drinks during the day, why close it at night though? Clean rooms however slightly cramped with 2 adults and 11 Yr old and 13yr old.

I’ve just returned from a week stay at Sol Barbados with my husband and 2 children aged 3&7, we absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend this hotel.
Kids club.
Firstly I would like to highlight the kids club and how fantastic this is, every member of staff go above and beyond for the children and both my children absolutely loved it and asked to go back every day. They are amazing with the children and have a wide variety of activities and adventures for them each day. I honestly cannot thank them enough for the experiences and care given to my children throughout the week, it was outstanding.
Swimming pools.
The pools were cold but once you were in it was ok. As each day got hotter the warmer the pool so I suppose that’s expected off season. The kids loved the slides and different water features in the pools. Having lifeguards at all the pools were fantastic as they were attentive and responsive to anything going on in or around the pool, it was reassuring to have them watching over everyone.
Food.
The food was good, there was plenty of choice and always pizza, pasta and chips for fussy eaters. My children are quite fussy but managed to have breakfast, lunch and dinner every day no problem. The food is hot and is replenished as soon as it runs out.
Rooms.
The rooms were standard size and we didn’t spend too much time in the room so they were just what we needed them for.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel went with two adults two children.
The rooms were lovely beds comfortable and cosy rooms plenty of space fridge also in the room so could stock up on water and drinks to take to your room adults well catered for, some of the meals although nice a bit repetitive but still would recommend.
This hotel is so ideal for young children 11 and under the kids club is fantastic the reps there are brilliant and go above and beyond to. Make sure the kids are entertained be it baking painting music dancing in the mini disco parents can also use. Boogie down to the resident DJ. While their parents get some downtime.
The kiddies paddling pool with animals shapes and stuff ideal for the under fours. The waterworld pool with slides and waterfall features the older kids would love it❤️the middle pool lovely the quite pool also a lovely feature along with the exercise bikes along the sides of the pool.
Lifeguards are around all the pools watching everyday including the little kiddies pool I could go on and on about this hotel needless to say I would definitely go again especially if you have younger children. Oh I forgot to mention the beach is a couple of mins from the hotel and there are shops across from the hotel including a spar yes a spar supermarket.
Looking myself to go next year with my older grandchildren.

We booked this hotel for a long weekend as a family of four.
The hotel is clean and basic. The rooms are comfortable for a short stay but with the sofa bed out the space is limited. Great bathroom and had a mini bar. The air con was off or broken which was not ideal but the manager Borja was very helpful and apologetic coming to an agreement to make up for the discomfort. The breakfast was good with a fair range of food as was the lunch and dinner. Not great quality but fine compared to paying to eat out.
The pool was really nice and the kids loved the entertainment in the day. The guys running the activities were excellent and really fun. Good amount of loungers and again the toilets and communal areas were clean.
There was a good range of AI drinks but the bar was a little busy at peak times as you would expect.
The local beach is super close as is the main town that has loads of bars and restaurants.
Overall great for a short stay.

Just came back with a 2 year old and had a lovely 10 days.
Hotel is kept very clean.
Location is brilliant. 5min walk to the lovely local beach and 10min to local shops/bars. Also a shop straight opposite the hotel with surprisingly OK prices. Bus stop a 5min walk and prices are cheap. 15min bus ride to palma Nova. 20min bus ride to marine land — although you're expected to get on and off very quickly which is quite hard with a pensioner on crutches and a toddler and pushchair, which made me quite anxious.
Hotel is great for kids. Splash park really good. Although water extremely cold and found opening times very short. 11am-5pm. Most evenings it was still full and they'd be closing the pool off at 4.50pm, which was a shame. Not sure if they extend the times in the peak season.
Only having 3 lifts for a 12 floor hotel was a nightmare alot of the time. Not very big either. Being on the 11th floor we had some long waits.
Kids Entertainment was quite repetitive, but they seemed to like it. Felt both kids and adults entertainment started quite late at 8.45pm and 9.45pm, most people were going up to their rooms by then with toddlers/babies.
Staff all friendly and helpful.
The hotel is on abit of a hill. Paving isn't great, with lots of cracked paving and uneven. Not very good for less abled people.
All in all, had a great time away. Just wanted to be honest.
Would definitely visit again 😊

No glasses for water in the room, broken window which didn't let us use AC, water temperature in showers has it's own mind, — you don't have to turn it for temps to raise and fall by itself, no bidet.
Full of kids but that doesn't impact my verdict, which is already lowest.
Breakfast was fine.
All this considering I only needed hotel for sleep and shower.

Very much families with small kids. You have to know that. So it's loud everywhere. The breakfast is excellent and offers a wide variety of food. The room was unfortunately not cleaned well. The closet was not cleaned not the bathtub. And the floor was also not clean. Don't bring white socks 😉. Beside that the room was modern and comfortable with a nice balcony. The pools are huge and many tubs for the kids.
