February 6 2017: The only reason this place gets two stars is because the manager and staff were its only redeeming factor! My husband and I were sent on holiday for our Golden Wedding Anniversary by our children… looking at the photos of the place they believed it to be a beautifully romantic retreat… it did not turn out to be anything like that. We were put in one of the rooms off the reception area. What a disaster! Rain coming in through the windows, wind came in through windows that did not fit properly, it was dark, only one shutter would open, tatty furniture, no hot water in the bathroom apart from the shower which only allowed one person to shower before the water ran cold again… my husband had to boil a kettle to shave, the toilet was continually running water, the shared kitchen was dark and apart from the microwave and fridge nothing else seemed to work properly, no Wi-Fi reception in the room, nothing to do, television was in the kitchen/lounge and no reception… great if you like white noise! No radio, no entertainment. The fabric of the whole place let it down unfortunately, it needs a radical face lift. It could be that the villas are better but the room in the house that we were put in really needs attention… it is unacceptable to not have hot water at the very least! On the plus side, the room was clean and the manager was attentive, helpful and accommodating (grazie). The staff were sweet and helpful.

Arrived on a Sunday of January under a flood of water at about 5.30 pm, no one was waiting for us… nobody answered the phone!?
In short, we had forgotten… Luckily, a native was able to help us and two hours later, we finally had the keys to our accommodation!
Small stone houses around a well maintained garden overlooking the swimming pool (icy) and the Jacuzzi (not very clean), like an "Oasis" in the middle of the blackness of the landscape.
Despite the perpetual spring, the month of January is not to advise, it rains almost every night, it is cool, grey and windy especially inside the country!
We stayed in the main building next to the front desk. It is an old building of the years 1800 handed down as well as bad to the taste of the day and divided into two "apartments".

It was well informed that the kitchen was common either, but putting a common entrance hall between our room and the bathroom, it is a bit special and very unpleasant especially as apart from the one in the room, no door will lock… not even the door Outdoor!
A dressing area, was attached to the bathroom and accessible to all, as the bathroom door did not close either.
This famous seperate bathroom was without heating and without hot water or the bathtub or the sink. Fortunately there was still a shower with hot water reserve for 1 person!
And it was involuntarily equipped with a strobe light (defective spots) and a musical flush (leakage).

Great apartments with good facilities.

The first time I came to Casa Tomaren I felt at home, Indonesia. And I was surprised that the items I see in my country can turn beautiful and nice like this. I can relax and feel at peace. The atmosphere here is like being in another country. Really amazing. And the pool is very nice. I am sad to not try it because I can not swim. But I will come back and I will definitely be able to swim. But at that time there was a jacuzzi that made me really enjoy my holiday. The breakfasts were delightful. Very tasty croissant bread. Employees are very friendly. One word to Casa Tomaren is amazing!

Situated near the centre of the island, Mozaga is a small village far removed from the popular beach resorts. You won't see any tourist coaches. It is a great retreat for those looking for a quieter base from which to explore Lanzarote. A car is essential but, being centrally located, nothing on the island is much more than a 20-30 minute drive, often through stunning scenery. The nearest beach is Famara which was great for kitesurfing (bring your own kit) and, on those days with not enough wind, surfing. Casa Tomaren itself is a beautiful collection of individual houses (I forget exactly how many but I expect no more than 6-8), each slightly different in style but equally carefully laid out and managed. The location benefits from a cooler climate than the beach resorts which we found ideal. The entire staff were brilliant. Special mention to the lady who made our daughter a makeshift cot at breakfast every day. (While on the subject, breakfast was also excellent. ) Natalia was extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble and any requests we had were dealt with very quickly. We were quite apprehensive about our first holiday away with a small child (2 months) but the entire staff made it as easy as possible for us. For us, Casa Tomaren was a perfect size and ideally located. It made our stay in Lanzarote. It won't suit those looking for nightlife, restaurants, bars, etc.

A bali-style complex of very nicely design apartments with an impressive pool within a lava hole. Probably one of the most beautiful accomodation options in Lanzarote.
