Had a great stay here. Very convenient location for a great price. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to English speakers. After arriving very early in the morning, the staff was able to hold our bags while we explored the city. We were then able to check in several hours before the official time.
Rooms were modern and clean. Felt hot sometimes and had to open the window to cool, as the hotel wasn't running the air conditioning (it was February during our stay).
Highly recommend the included breakfast (at Naked & Sated next door).

We just spent 5 nights in Madrid, and I don’t believe we could have found a place that better matched, even exceeded, what we were looking for in lodging: clean, reasonable price, good location in the city center.
The place has a cool, contemporary and playful atmosphere. Our room, admittedly small by American standards, was very clean (and hey, if you’re in the middle of this great city you shouldn’t be hanging out in a hotel room anyway). Didn’t turn on the tv, so can’t comment on that (again, you’re in Madrid! ). The twin beds were comfortable.
We are glad we chose to include the breakfast option at the adjoining restaurant, Naked & Sated. I saw a couple of reviews before hand complaining about the price/value, but I have a big appetite, and it suited me just fine. My wife and I both thought the breakfast offerings were exceptional in quality and were a great start to the day.
The location couldn’t be better. You’re within a 20 minute walk of the Prado or Reina Sofia museums, the Royal Palace and cathedral, El Rastro open air market and more. Puerta del Sol is practically around the corner and Plaza Mayor not many minutes farther. Tons of high quality restaurants and a lot of shopping if that interests you.
We visited in the off season, but there was still lot of foot traffic in the area, especially on weekends, but it wasn’t a problem for us, and we enjoyed being around being around such a vibrant scene.

Staff was super friendly (a special shout out to David), very accommodating and ready to help with anything.
The hotel has a cool atmosphere, very modern but also very cozy. The rooms are clean and spacious, very well decorated. Even though we were facing the street, it was super quiet, beds were comfortable.
Location is prefect, very central! Very close to the metro Puerta del Sol, a 5min walk. Lots of shops, restaurants options and supermarket are also close by. We had breakfast included, which is served in the restaurant next door. It’s all healthy and gluten free. Personally I loved it, as a hotel guest you get a special menu which includes: 1 cold drink, 1 hot beverage, 1 main dish and a slice of cake.
I stayed here with my 10yr old, we loved it and I would book a stay here again when returning to Madrid ❤️

If you are looking for a quaint little hotel with an awesome location and awesome hotel staff then this hotel is for you. Two major things to keep in mind:
1. If you come during November to January be prepared for road closures so it may be a bit tough to get your taxi and uber through the crowds!
2. The room is a bit smaller than what we expected. There is no real room service all though the staff will try to help you as much as they can.
Either than that amazing stay and the best part is location although it may be busy, you are in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the city and you'll love it and everything is in walking distance! Once again I just wanna say the staff was super friendly and they were extremely accommodating!

Love chic&basic hotels. We stayed at a couple of them and they are exactly what they call themselves, chic but also basic. All you need for a nice short stay. Small rooms but nice amenities. This one is in a great location too, plenty going on. We were there during NYE and these cortalandia animatronics are just going nuts every 11 minutes. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Great location, in the city center, close to everything. Few minutes walk to subway station and plazas/shopping. There is a cafe right beside it. Very friendly staff — special mention to David — he was very friendly and extremely helpful. His service boosted the rating of this review! The room size was slightly smaller to our liking and lack basic amenities such as providing kleenex! The one big complain we had — during our 5 night stay, there were two instances where there was no water in the hotel temporarily. We were told that it had something to do with the water pump. The issue got resolved within the hour but this seems to be a recurring incident.

We arrived early for check in but they had no issue holding onto our bags while we went to explore Madrid. For the price and location, I think this place is great! Perfect location in the historical center of Madrid and everything was very close and walkable. The staff at the front desk was very helpful as well. We did have an issue the last night with the water not working for quite a few hours which was an issue, not sure if that’s on the hotel or the building/city as it was a water pressure issue.

10/10 if I'm ever coming back to Madrid then its going to be here again, the location is amazing and close to everything really felt safe too. The staff was really friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfy and clean. Over all just the best service ever. Thank you Basic & chic dot. You are amazing!

The absolutely best aspect of the hotel is location — It is located on a rather quiet side street just off Plaza del Callao. But the hotel is really in the middle of everything. Just a round the corned or a short walk away you have the main Plazas, Grand Via, Shopping, everything.
Taxis and Bolt have an easy and fast access, but they are not allowed outside the hotel. You will have to walk 50 m uphill to the entrance. Did not bother us at all, but good to know.
The rooms are very modern, clean and functional. Nothing extra but that was not expected either. Some strange things though: You have an empty mini-fridge in the room and a complimentary water waiting for you. BUT: the water carafe is so big it doesn't fit in the fridge. So when arriving in the room (with temperatures in Madrid around +36), the water on the table was +25… No complaint — just wondering why.

I been many times in Madrid and I must say, I’m very impressed of this hotel! The location is center and perfect, in between Gran Via and Puerta del Sol, the hotel is nice, modern, clean and the rooms spacious, soundproof and modern design, I had the chance to be upgraded to a room with terrace which blew my mind! Specially during summer, nice view it was definitely the best way to have a break from the vibrant streets of Madrid without going far! Breakfast is worth it and is a menu set up which I personally think is better than having a buffet, the staff are absolutely friendly specially DAVID at front desk, very kind, decent and took care of every detail during my stay!
If you’re looking for a nice cozy hotel with a comfortable bed, great shower, great location don’t hesitate and stay at chic&dot!

A massive blackout hit the whole Spain when we stayed here so definitely a trip to remember. Special thanks to David who was working the blackout night and stayed level-headed and helpful despite doing a lot of running up and down the stairs to get guests in their rooms. Also thank you for taking a photo of us, aka The Chic & The Basic :) The blackout kind of steals the spotlight here – pun intended – but overall, this small hotel has a friendly staff, nice design, cool room layout, and the location really couldn’t be better. It’s very much in the middle of the middle, right between Gran Via and Sol, just a few steps off the busy Preciados walking street. Despite this, no street noise reached the room. Wouldn’t mind going back the next time in Madrid. (We now have a proven record of finding the place even when it’s dark. )

Excellent location. Front desk staff very helpful. Naked and Sated restaurant co-located with the hotel has a good breakfast. Rooms are comfortable. Rooms on the back side of the hotel were quiet.
The hotel is true to its name in that lobby area, bathrooms, and bedrooms are basic. Hotel is a good value for what it is. You'll have everything you need with good staff support, and you'll remember more of the your time in the city than you will remember the hotel.

Great service! The staff were very helpful and kind—they gave advice re where to eat and what to do in the area.
The rooms were simple, but clean and nice.
Centrally located within walking distance to important landmarks.

I would not stay at this hotel again. The staff was the best part of the experience. The room itself has very low lighting especially in the bathroom. The pillows are way to big to be comfortable. The side table for the bed are so small, I had to put my water and eyeglass case on the floor to have enough room to charge my phone.

Booked a last minute room here since our flight got cancelled but had a seamless transaction.
Guy at the front desk checked us in and within minutes, we had our room and were able to drop off our luggage.
Location is central to everything so it’s super convenient to everything! Rooms are also clean but could be a bit noisy if you have the windows open.

My husband and I stayed here for the Madrid leg of our trip. We were here for 3 nights. We arrived from our flight very jet lagged and they were able to get us into a room at noon which was much appreciated. The room, for lack of a better phrase, got the job done. It was tight quarters for us as we each had two bags given our lengthy multi city/climate trip. The bed was comfy and the room was clean so we were fine with the overall accommodation. It was also nice that the window opened as the room got a bit stuffy for us. The location was 5 star — close to all the main spots and easy metro access!

Great and convenient location to restaurants and train stations. Not loud at all. Staff are exceptional and welcoming. Highly recommend choosing this hotel.
Only downside while staying here is the pickup spots for Uber can be a little tricky to get due to pedestrian traffic. May need to walk out a few minutes more to get to more car traffic.
