Mayerling Hotel

Positive:
1. Extremely good location. Minutes walk away from city center. Good bus and metro connection.
2. Internet speed was good.
3. There is coffee, tea and water all the time at the lobby, which is great.
4. After checking out, we left our luggage at the lobby for a couple of hours.
5. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Negative:
1. The setting of the WC, washbasin and bathroom is extremely uncomfortable all separated. With no sound barrier. The washbasin is within the room. The WC is smaller than airplane closets. Very inconvenient. The bathroom has a glass window looking at the room. Although they have installed a curtain, it is transparent.
2. The room is worn out. The whole hotel is worn out.
3. The doors of the bathroom and WC would not close properly.
4. Not enough electricity outlets.
5. The breakfast was not of good quality. But maybe it is worth it for just 8 Euros.

Great hotel for a short stay. Basic, clean and great location. If I was to stay again I'd ask for a higher floor as I was on the first floor at the front so it was fairly noisy! Luckily I was planning an early start to the day as the deliveries etc get going early.

Superb! Basic but Superb! Just that really, spotless, great central location, although away from the crowds. No desk in the room in case you did want to work or get ready, but I wasn't working. The bed was really comfortable. I had a 5th floor opening onto the street, not real noise as there are no bars below, just the background sound of the city.
I didn't have breakfast there but it looks good. Free coffee and water all day, plus a bonus few snacks. The owners and staff do seem to go that little further to impress. I would return.

The Hotel Mayerling is rated as 2 stars — it is a basic hotel and provides basic accommodations. I'd rate this hotel 5 stars for staffing — their desk staff are superb. They are friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. We felt completely taken care of. The hotel is located downtown and within easy walking distance of food markets, restaurants, the Prado Art Museum, and several other attractions. The hotel is affordable. It provides complementary coffee, tea and bottled water. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are cleaned daily.
I rated this hotel 3 stars for its infrastructure. We were three adults traveling together — a couple and an adult daughter. The room had three twin beds. There were two outstanding problems. First, the room does not come with what I would call a private bathroom. It had a closet with a toilet and a closet with a shower. The sink was in the public area of the room. The problem was the shower — to dry off and clothe required stepping from the shower into the main hotel room, then into the toilet closet. The second problem was the maintenance needed in the room. The main wall outlet was taped to the wall — the electrical box was falling out of the wall because the wall board was broken. The wall board around the shower head was also broken. For some odd reason, the shower head would leak water every few hours — this wasn't a constant leak but water would run for several seconds and then stop. We had no idea why.
We stayed two nights at this hotel.
