Last visit December 2017: Wonderful as always, except for a few details: we slept late. And at 9:00am… Phone "Good morning, it's 9:00… " … "and? " we hadn't asked for wake-up service. "I'm sorry" and they hung up. Nothing more, administrative silence (or apology) charge you just do the CheckIN. It's a little ugly.
The breakfast was great. I ordered a coffee and a toast (for this I will not pay 20 €), and not having to leave the hotel to have breakfast… They said yes, but they were called by the Walkies "who makes a coffee? " "Where do we give it to him? " … I do not know, a bit of ' decontrol ' or ' disinformation ' about it… it is true that the ' cafeteria ' or small bar they have is not open at breakfast time, but I think they should give a alterntativa (other than room service).

Looking for where to stay in Barcelona this Christmas I found a new hotel in the center, 4 stars, the Catalonia Magdalenes.
The location is perfect, between Portal del Angel and Via Laietana but without being in the hustle of the center; It's on a small street almost without traffic, very quiet.
It is a modern hotel, nice, and very well decorated. As for cleanliness very well.
The room they gave us, within the average, was spacious. A good bed, very comfortable; A table/desk with a chair, and a small area like a armchair under the window. Also a small armchair. The ' wardrobe ' area, as usual, is an ' open ' area with a perch, hanger, and shelving room. A good television. A fridge/mini/bar that didn't make any noise. Safe, etc. The window with a kind of automatic opaque shutter that prevents light from being able to rest without a problem.
The bathroom is very large, with a wall-to-wall shower, both with ' artichoke ' in plan ' rain ' above, as a hand-held. Very clean. Bathroom, battery, bidet. A lot of amenities and very nice towels.
The toilet a little high, and the shower enclosure a bit ' short ' (the floor gets a little wet when showering).
Heating/Air Conditioning almost imperceptible, very little noise, but effective.
Pretty good soundproofing: from the other rooms you can hardly hear anything; From the outside either. It is true that at some point you hear some kind of engine or as if it were the heating or piping of adjoining rooms, but very little. I was a little scared because we got the top floor (5), no neighbors upstairs (great) and as there is a terrace with pool and rooftop bar I wasn't entirely sure we wouldn't hear anything, but as the pool didn't work and the top bar was closed, we had no problems about it. Maybe in summer yes that is point to be taken into account.
The staff is very friendly, professional and very helpful. We asked for a couple of things (drying sportswear, etc. ) and without any problems; Very attentive.
We tried the fitness room which is pretty good. But we stayed with the desire to try the SPA, which looked very good; Tiny, but he painted well.
In the bar of the reception they put a free piscolabis service for the guests from 14:00 to 23:00 where you can find sandwiches, nuggets, rolls, empanadas, soft drinks, salads, desserts, juices, yoghurts, coffees, teas, etc. We tried something and it was pretty good; But we didn't try much either. It is appreciated for example if you are late and did not eat or if you feel like a Colacaro. This service is fine. Thank you.
The price, having booked well in advance, is fine (between 110 €-€130). But if you book with little time and have a lot of occupancy, it shoots a bit and I find it a bit high (€220) we took no breakfast, as there are countless sites around the area. The price of the breakfast is quite high (€19), although the quality is worthwhile; But we'll try one day.

Nightly rates from $322
