San Sebastián DOT Rooms

Very comfortable room. For a short stay this is excellent as it's in the vibrant part of the old town. No noise issues through the night. Highly recommended.

We were shocked that the rooms offered no facilities other than its location and initially clean rooms of ok size. No daily clean up, no glasses to drink anything and despite repeated requests as I needed it for medical purposes; no kettle was provided. No luggage storage. The single shower which was also the WC and the drinking water source was shared by 4 or 5 double rooms.
Finally, they cut out all the criticism and only put two positive points from my detailed review on Booking. Com (through which I had booked them) on their site; which is MISLEADING & DISHONEST.

Great location and clean. Right in the old town near all the pinchos bars and easy walk to the swimming and surf beaches! Ceiling fan was useful in the heat and having an en suite was great.

The location was just perfect and the communication went very well. I really missed tea kettle but I asked for it and got it. Such small things like being able to make a cup of tea and iron clothes makes a great difference, especially if you are there for work and all the cafés are closed early in the morning so it was important to make your own cup of tea. I think if Dot Rooms could offer these small things their ratings would be much higher!.
All was good, but as I wrote above it could be good with an iron and tea kettle, but fortunatelly I got mine when I asked for it, so all was fine.

Rooms were good, location was perfect, but the service is the worst we have experienced in the whole of Europe! The manager was very rude and did not acknowledge his own mistake in the reservation. So many other better places in San Sebastian.

Don't book a room here! This is a scam. We had booked and paid for a room (via Booking). But when we arrived, we found out that the hotel owner had given our room to someone else (whom we talked directly with) for a higher price. He left us outside with no accommodation or reimbursement. To be avoided at all costs!
The details:
— We had no issues making the reservation or paying via Booking. On the day of arrival, we successfully did the online check-in process.
— When we arrived, the code to enter did not work. After over one hour waiting on the street for the hotel owner to pick up the phone (there is no reception desk at the hotel), he lied to us. He first said that we had never booked (even though we had already paid! ), then said that we had cancelled our booking earlier that day (which is false).
— The hotel owner then blocked our phone number and we were left on the street with no accommodation.
— We ran into some guests that had just arrived, and talking to them we found out that they had booked the same room as us, but or a much higher price that same day. The hotel had therefore cancelled our booking and given the room to them.
— In total, we spent nearly 3 hours on the street, trying first to sort out the booking issue and then, when we realised it was a scam, trying to get reimbursed, but it did not work. Fortunately, Booking helped us find another place to stay.

Do not book here. Having stayed here last year with a positive experience, we booked a return visit months ago. However, with no notice, we found out the day of our arrival that our reservation, made months ago, had been cancelled and were told there were no rooms available to us. We had to scramble to find different accommodations, of course at a higher cost and not located in the old town. Although this is our second visit to San Sebastian and we plan many more, never again will I stay here. We have travelled the world for years and have never had an accommodation cancel our reservation with no notice. Terrible. Do not book here, ever.

I travelled around the world for twenty years and have never seem a place, overall, as bad as the DOT rooms pension Edorta, San Sebastian, as it is poor in all three categories, room, service and location. I checked into its room on the first day, could not tolerate it, found another hotel in the morning at about 2 AM, and moved out. The other hotel was located across the Playa de la Concha beach, with A/C and ocean view, overall far better than DOT Edorta and cost the same. I normally do not bother to write reviews; but my experience at DOT Edorta was so bad that I would like to warn travelers to be more careful of their selections. In my view, DOT wants maximum profit, provides worst facility in the nosiest location, and gives as little service as they could get away. Allow me to explain:
1. The service and management were the worst: DOT Edorta DOES NOT have staff on site. If you need help with inquiries (including entrance and exit. As the staff works REMOTELY and you may be at risk of waiting a long time without a key during arrival), guidance, and reservation, etc, you may be out of luck. They took no responsibility for erroneous phone instructions and their inability to take care of the customers. Their excuse would be that this facility is a pension, not a hotel. The reality is that there are indeed hotels around far better than this one, at competitive price.

We stayed 2 nights in San Sebastian and loved it. The location is central in this small town — lots of great tapas bars nearby, and a quick walk to town and beach. Staff were friendly and helpful when we needed them. The room was clean and good sized, bathroom too. Would love to come back.

Spent 9 nights at Pension Edorta in a double room with bathroom. It's located on one of the best streets in old town, accessible to great bars & resturants. Short, beautiful walk to the beach, seaport, aquarium & fun walk up up to castle & museum. The owner & front desk spoke enough English and were very helpful to answer our questions & make recommendations. The room was basic, very clean & the bed comfortable. Ample towels, extra blanket, hair dryer provided from front desk & even a great book to read (English). We appreciated the elevator to spare our knees after long walks. Not sure if there is airconditioning however we never needed it. My only warning is if you are staying over an event weekend (we were there for the boat races), bring earplugs. They party till the wee hours and our room faced the street. We are US Florida residents & felt very safe traveling in Spain during Covid. Spanish people are serious about mask wearing, controlling #'s in venues & resturants.
