I stayed at the majestic stay at Casa La Siesta in April 2016. I found the hotel to be authentic and beautifully rustic situated in the quiet village of Los Parralejos. You really cannot fault the scenery of the place, it was a picture-perfect home surrounded by sun drenched hills, cattle and lemons! If you dream of a rural Andalusian escape, this will be the most ideal retreat and the architecture and decor really gives the feel you have stepped into a Spanish colonial film. The food was home cooked, healthy and local and the presentation and tastes were exquisite! The care that has gone into the food, home and atmosphere has really been crafted to perfection by people with a beautiful eye for detail. I noticed from another review on the home website that someone made a complaint about the noise from 'dogs, chickens, and a cockerel' keeping them awake. If you don't expect to hear nature and farm animals in the countryside, where else do you expect to hear them? My guest and I both remarked at how well we slept, the comfort and softness of the beds and how peaceful and tranquil the home was. We only ever heard a gentle bark of a sheepdog during the day and a cockerel in the morning when you stepped outside but it was not an awful sound, it was homely and natural and exactly what I wanted to hear whilst staying in the countryside.

We got married and spent a long weekend at the beautiful Casa la Siesta this September. It is truly the most wonderful place — so special. The hotel is stylish, rustic yet luxurious, beautifully well kept with lush picturesque grounds. Seriously I cannot say enough nice things about this place! The location is ideally tranquil and private yet very close to the charming village of Vejer de la Frontera, which is also adorable and a must to visit. The staff at Casa la Siesta were outstanding. They were so discreet that you would hardly know they were there, although they were working tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect for us and we had everything we needed. Nothing we asked was too much trouble. All of the food served at Casa la Siesta is of the highest quality and so delicious, and the wedding meal did not disappoint. We were so happy with all of the food and the presentation. I have to say an extra special thank you to Elske as she was really the shining star — thank you for your support, guidance and patience throughout our wedding planning experience and for looking after us and our guests so well during our stay. We could not have wished for a better wedding and it is an experience that we will treasure forever. We will definitely be returning to Casa la Siesta in the future and we would recommend it to anybody!

Despite our earlier than anticipated arrival, we were given a very warm welcome by Karen who offered us refreshments before taking us through to explore the gardens of the Casa. We couldn't believe our eyes upon entering and walked around in an endless daze at how lucky we were to have not only found La Siesta, but to have gotten one of their few rooms. Every day we were lazily woken by the sun peeking through the shutters and ambled down to a simple, but delicious breakfast before deciding weather the tear ourselves away or spend the day by the pool. All the staff have achieved, to us, the perfect balance of second guessing when you might need them without being intrusive, providing ideas for places to visit, or surprising us with a glass or two of homemade lemonade. Having decided that mornings were to be spent out and about and afternoons by the pool, we dipped in and out of books and in and out of the pool, only to be hurriedly encouraged out by the diving swallows wanting a drink during the late afternoon. A truly magical place — perfect to celebrate a very special anniversary at — and one which we wouldn't hesitate to return to again. If you are contemplating a stay — or even your wedding here — don't. You won't regret it.

We've stayed at Casa La Siesta a couple of times now, and it's fair to say that it's my favourite hotel in the whole world. (Ever. ) Why? Firstly because of the beautiful premises and interiors (using reclaimed materials from antique tiles to beautiful stone and brick and huge wooden beams in the sitting room). Then there's the gorgeous setting: surrounded by nothing but rolling hills. The food's delicious, the staff are lovely, the rooms are huge and luxurious, there's a heavy emphasis on health and wellbeing (but not in a boring, po-faced way). Oh, and they've just introduced a horse refuge and horsemanship centre — which is wonderful, too. It's not a hotel — nothing about it feels hotel-like. It's getting to hang out, and make yourself entirely at home, in a beautiful country house in the south of Spain for a while.
