We stayed at Cape Diem Lodge for 5 nights at the end of a 3 week Africa trip. What a welcome to get checked into this boutique hotel with customized services, after being in the bush for 2 weeks with minimal services. Our room included a nice private deck, with bathtub (included bath salts and candles for a spa experience) and the grounds were impeccable and quiet. The breakfasts were so fresh and we sat outside overlooking the pool area. The location of the lodge is a quick walk down the street to the waterfront that has lots of restaurants and shopping. There are convenient stores very nearby to grab foods to go if you are planning a day hike going up table mountain or any of the nearby trails. The beach is very close by and don’t miss out on taking a long walk (we walked 5 miles out and back) on the beach boardwalk/strand and feel the ocean air and watch for whales. I suggest that you make time to stop in at the many outdoor restaurants with good views of the ocean. We did this our last day and had lunch for 2 hours at a great place and enjoyed some great South African wine, great ocean views and a great meal. A perfect way to end our 3 week trip.
We were very impressed with the Cape Diem staff and their attention to detail. Vashna is the manager and she provided great suggestions for hikes, restaurants and also provided a GREAT day driver/guide for us to use to drive up the coast to experience Cape Horn, the penguins and all the little villages along the way.
