Fabulous place to take a break from the driving from Jhb to Cape Town. Wonderful hospitality and if you choose to dine there as well, really great home cooked food. Highly recommend this venue!

Friendly hospitality. Excellent food. Great rooms with all the necessary amenities and a private verandah with some sherry waiting on arrival. The hosts, Mike & Annelie, treats you as family and make you feel right at home.

Beautiful rooms and lovely garden and surroundings. Breakfast was magnificent and scrumptious and very tasty — loved the home made muffins. Hosts were extremely hospitable and excellent. Highly recommended!

Not quite what the website describes. Room was nice though, spacious with a small kitchen and aircon (a must have in colesberg! ) Parking was a hassle and you have to love dogs here.

Great stop over great units great hosts Mike and Annelie. Breakfast was hot fresh and comprehensive. Will be back.

If no stars was an option… Filthy room — hair in the basin for one. When we suggested that the room was not properly serviced there was no apology, merely a strong suggestion to find alternative accommodation. Dirty bedside laps, dirty light switches, layers of dust. Old tattered furniture. Just horrible!

Very friendly owners. You get to sleep in the original barracks of the town from the 1800s. Delicious breakfast. Perfect for you N1 stop over. They have a friendly malamute too.

Amazing service — some of the friendliests hosts and staff we've ever experienced. The food was amazing as well — all beautiful home-cooked meals. The rooms were spacious and clean.

Absolutely an incredible place to relax after a long drive! They are pet friendly and our two dogs had their own large patio to run around and stretch their legs! The owners are very friendly and welcoming and the room was incredible. Definitely worth the price!

The very best! Home from home! We are always so very happy to spend a night on our way to and from Kenton on Sea. The trip is simply not the same without The Barracks stop over!

Enjoyed my stay there, very friendly owners. Best lamb shank I have ever had. Don't expect a 5 star modern building. It's a lovely quaint building with all the original floors, doors and windows from the original English Barracks. The history on the wall of the dinner table is amazing. If you love historic places to stay you will love it there.
