Nicely located, friendly staff, I enjoy it here. Having seen quite a few places in Eastafrica I cannot understand what others are complaining about.

Excellent location with free public beach white sand just few steps ahead. It is few meters before Serena Hotel. Food is very good, staff very friendly and courteous. The premises and washrooms are very old, that deserve face lifting. Order completion time is usual Rwandes 1 hour.

We went to discover's restaurant at Rwanda's day off. There were no other guests beside us, though we had to wait for a while until waitress even appear. Half of the things from the menu weren't available. When we'd ordered, it took an hour to get our meal (cut avocado). Waitress was avoiding us specially when it came to give the balance from the bill. Food was good but definitely not worth waiting for so long, especially when you have so many possibilities to get food around with much friendlier staff.

A very cosy guest house with awesome staff. Totally enjoyed my stay there.

Beautiful spacious rooms in the main building. Could use some comfortable seating in the garden area.

This hostel is awesome but they do not have high speed internet and slipper shoes in the bathroom.

Clean facility, well-kept landscape, good food, free breakfast, zippy Wi-Fi and friendly staff. The chef even came out to talk with us and confirm our orders before preparing dinner. The morning breeze off Lake Kivu is a plus, with over 100 locals exercising on the beach. Our group of 4 men stayed in one of their "dorm-styled rooms" (2 bunk beds and an adjoining bathroom). For $15/person/night, I can't complain. If your needs are simple, Discover Hotel will certainly fit the bill. If I need a hotel next time I'm in Gisenyi, Discover will be the first place I check.

The prices are way too high for Rwanda, the rooms are in a bad condition, especially the washroom. The staff is unfriendly. The breakfast is of poor quality and quantity. I would definitely not recommend this hostel.

Large private room, great location next to lake, good bar at the hotel, good breakfast. Bathroom was outdated but functional.

I've been Gisenyi 3 times. Maybe Discovery hostel will be worst service hostel title. Inzu lodge, Serena (only restaurant) and this hostel. Room is not bad. But service makes me upset. We orderd beverage and food. Lemon ginger tea is too bitter. Next beef menu, first beef piece. I chew small plastic pieces in beef. It's bearable. And when eat almost, Last beef piece has many plastic pieces inside. I split out. I said restaurant staff. He said "why did you eat all? You endure first piece and eat almost. You should pay all. " I want to listen apologize us about that situation. But he said "How can we check inside all beef. " I thought this hostel have big service problems in that sentence. Hey staff. If you have service mind. You should worry about me, already eat that plastic beef almost. Plz Don't expect breakfast and restaurant food.

Wonderful hostel with friendly staff and nice accommodations. Price wasn't too bad either. Breakfast was included and very enjoyable. Close to the beach if you want to go. Would stay here again.

Great stay just on the beach.

Great looking place with a decent restaurant/bar and an awesome staff. They helped me out with a lot, from getting info on church services to printing visas and permits. A nice walk (1.7 km) to the Grande Barrier border crossing to DRC. Very easy to get a moto (motorcycle taxi). Wi-Fi worked well in the common areas (not in the annexes where my room was). Very nice old building and grounds. I felt completely safe the whole time I was there.
