Had a 6 night stay at this hotel at the end of January. I'll give it 5 stars because it was a very pleasant stay overall, but some people may not feel the same.
Let's just get the minor issues out the way — the room had the stale smell of cigarettes — we are non-smokers. It got less obvious during a longer stay, but I can appreciate this may not be great for non-smokers staying just a night or two. So do confirm with reception at check-in. The other issue was that the shower cubicle area looked tired and needs refurbishing. That said, it worked perfectly and was an excellent shower.
And thats the negatives! The overall service was excellent, special mention to Siddiqui the Concierge who was always very polite and helpful. The room was always cleaned, towels replaced, toiletries topped up and two bottles of water left. By the end of our stay, we'd accumulated about 6 bottles. The mini fridge is useful!
The buffet breakfast was unusual for Brits, as you'd find spring rolls, rice, noodles and some local hot items. However, you can request cooked eggs and toast etc. But there is always plenty of choice and quantity.
Finally, just a quick note regarding the hotel's location. Perfect! Just a 2-3 minute walk to Souk Waqif. Probably the most lively part of Doha for shopping and dining. The hotel is just behind the gold Souk and you cross the main road and you're in the Soul Waqif area.
A big thanks to everyone at Royal Qatar Hotel, we had a great stay, thank you!
