The Paintshop Hostel Hostel

Supposed to stay 7 nights ended up staying 2 more nights; that’s how good the hostel/atmosphere was. My friend and I were doing the surfcamp package and really enjoyed our stay. Very clean hostel, all you need is there, towels, clean sheets, free breakfast, music, cosy common areas (best toasties in town). Location is perfect to go in the center of the city and to the beach. We thank the staff for dealing with our crazyness and make this trip even better. Big up to Kirk and Sam! We’ll come back for sure.

My friend and I took the week surfing package. We had so much fun we decided to stay two more nights! The staff (Kirk and Sam if I remember well) were very friendly and always ready to help! The owners are also very welcoming! A great place to meet new people who like to have fun. They advice you on nice places to go whether it’s for food or the beach. Very good quality surfing lessons. Definitely would recommend if you don’t mind sharing rooms and bathrooms.

Great place, fab staff, good breakfast, comfy bunks. Ideal for surfers and backpackers.

I had an amazing time at this beautiful place! Breakfast was so good with eggs and fruits, they even got up early to prepare it for me, when I had to leave early in the morning. Next time I will stay longer. Thank you so much Kirk and Tim for all your recommendations and the stories you shared. I'll miss you!

Nice friendly staff clean and tidy good food and comfortable beds all you need.

This hostel was my home for 9 days. I must say this one of the best hostels I have stayed in. Why? The staff were amazing. Charlie, Alec, Elise and Kirk made my stay comfortable and full of laughs.

Absolutely amazing place! The owners and the staff are really good fun and super friendly and that sets the vibe for everyone staying there, weather your traveling alone or in a group you will definitely have a good time here and 100% won’t be bored!

I had a great time at the Paint Shop hostel. Stayed for 6 nights on the surf camp package, fantastic deal for 5 lessons, bed and breakfast, lifts to the beach BBQ and t shirt… you'll be hard to find a better deal! The surf lessons were awesone, Pedro has bags of energy and a great teacher! Great waves for beginners at cabadelo beach. The staff at paint shop really make the place work, one of those places you feel a real family vibe. Shout out to Kirk, he made us all feel …right at home with lifts from the station and to the beach every day, and would do anything to make sure you have a good time! Would stay again 100%

My boyfriend and I stayed here in summer 2014 for the week long surf camp and in one of the private rooms on the top floor. We had a wonderful stay, made some great friends and hope to repeat it again soon in the near future. Steve, Debbie and Star will definitely make you feel at home at the Paintshop!

Absolutely amazing staff and ambiance. The feeling you have staying in this hostel is so cozy, chilling out with great people in this perfect location. We had an amazing time, meeting great people from all over the world and having loads of fun. Loved the van, the dog, the baby, staff, terrace, bar, everything. Highly recommend ;x.

The best hostel I've ever been to! Everyone that works there is fantastic! The surf camp is brilliant — I went this summer and the summer before… and I would love to go again next year! There is a great atmosphere in the hostel… everyone is there to have fun… there's a huge kitchen/living room area, a cool outside barbecue area with sofas and a pizza oven and a fab bar at the back… which is open every night until late, and the drinks are great value… I would especially recommend getting a ''bluey''! The rooms and bathrooms are the cleanest I've ever seen, they're spacious, light and airy, the beds are really comfy and the walls all have cool hand-drawn paintings on them (each room has a different theme). The hostel is only a 10 minute walk to all the shops, restaurants, bars and clubs in Figueria de Foz. Every week there's a pizza night and barbecue night… I would recommend you do both… you get loads of food! Every morning there's cereal, fresh fruit, juices, fresh bread and eggs for breakfast. The surf lessons are excellent and you even get driven there and back in… the mystery machine! There's free computers which you can use 24/7… and great speakers in the bar area for music! But the best bit about the hostel is Debbie, Steve and Star who run it… they're both really relaxed, they made us feel so welcome, recommended places to eat, drink and visit in the local area and did everything they could to make sure we had a fantastic time!
