We stayed here from July 21 to 28; it is clean and well located.

Very friendly staff (welcome, bar), good advice and speaking good French.

The bar poncha is very good!

Very pleasant stay in Madeira.

The place was lovely and clean at all times.
The staff were all fantastic, very friendly and great for answering questions.
Would definitely recommend this place to stay and very close to Marina and all the main attractions.

Great location. So close to the old town local restaurants, markets and shops. Whilst the roof top pool is small it is well maintained and has lovely views. My room had a balcony looking up to Monti which I loved. The staff speak excellent English and are all very friendly and efficient. Good choices on the menu, serving until 9.30pm, just what you need if you arrive in the evening. Well recommended, perfect place to see Funchal.

A good hotel, quiet, clean, in great location. The staff are very courteous and welcomed me at 3am as if nothing had happened despite the airline's repeated delays. Recommended.

Ideal location to visit the capital and to discover the island.

Good location, short walk to everything Funchal has to offer. Staff really lovely. Rooms were good size, nice to have a balcony even if view of street, we used it all the time. Breakfast as you would expect from a continental offering, but was fresh and enough selection. Roof top pool lovely but not heated so too cold for me when I stayed in May! I would stay again and would recommend to people wanting a very reasonable prices hotel in the heart of Funchal.

A can retro but ideally located friendly staff and available sanitary a little ageing that could be modernized to minima.

Centrally located and ideal for excursions on foot or motorized (4, 5).
The hotel is thematically oriented towards the 60s and probably so old. It is neat and clean. The hotel staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. (4)
The breakfast buffet gets 3 and ️. The coffee is somehow not for North German palates — too much acid. And after a week, the soft bread and plastic jam is kind of over to me. Good are the fruit salad and local fruit We liked it. Price and performance are fine. We would book it again.

Clean, nice rooms. Super friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast spread om a pleasant restaurant. Rooftop lounge and pool with views of all Funchal including the harbour (helpful for spottting those pesky cruise ships! ).

Lovely hotel with great staff. It's a 3 star hotel and some reviewers seem to expect 4 star quality. Hotel is a little dated in places but the rooms are very clean, staff atentive and helpful not to mention a lovely pool with stunning views. 2nd visit here :)

Very nice hotel in 50s style. I find the food was mostly delicious the only negative point is that you only have 2 different dishes to choose from and both meat or fish is a big problem if you pay close attention to the fact that you only eat good and little meat. Besides, I once had lamb which was overdone and very knuckled. The staff are trying very hard and always trying to help.

A very comfortable hotel with very nice staff. Also everything clean we were satisfied.

Excellent stay, very friendly staff, both were able to do the checkin before the time and the day we left we were able to have breakfast before the scheduled time, a detallazo.
The location of the hotel is very central you arrive walking to all the places of the city without car.
The furniture of the hotel is a bit outdated but it comweighs the cleanliness, the staff and the location and the pool on the terrace with a breathtaking view.

Its just getting too old. And they must improve theie standards.

We liked the pool and from its terraces the breathtaking views that you will be engraved of the port and the Monte of Funchal. We'll repeat in dates of the flower parties, … Grande Madeira!

In the heart of Funchal very convenient. No soundproofing we hear everything from the Neighbors. No private parking of the Hotel. Parking managed by a company? Car upholstered two days in a row by pigeon Poop. Wash time and time spent at your Expense. Breakfast very good.

Nice place — rooms good size. Nice bar area and food ok. Pool area nice, might be a bit hectic in peak season but suited us. Staff helpful and friendly.

Centrally located. Very clean. Good buffet breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful. Bedrooms need modernised. No air conditioning but a ceiling fan. Comfortable.

Hotel lacked basic facilities like Tea & Coffee Making in Room. Pool Area access inappropriate for persons with a Disability. Also pool inaccessible for a Disabled Person. I got eaten alive by Mosquito Bites in the bedroom. In the Bar Area we had 2 drinks each night & the Waiter had 2 wash the glasses each time. A Modern Day Fawlty Towers.

Very central for Funchal. Rooms are fairly basic but clean and tidy.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel.
The rooms are very small and they would need a refurb, especially the bathrooms!

Comfortable and clean Hotel. Basic rooms, there is everything except the bidet and air conditioning. Recommended for a few days.

Quiet little street in Funchal, in the old Town, near the port and tourist area.

The ground floor of the hotel and the pool area have nothing to do with the rest of the hotel. I would need a refurbishment on the floors of the rooms as they are quite sloppy. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

It's a bit outdated, but if you respect this as a 60s theme/setting, then Do Carmo is your place to be. Everyone is really generous, kind, welcoming and all can be arranged! Your room is very well cleaned, everyday. Even if you leave your pyjamas unfolded next to the bed, prepare to find it on your made up bed, nicely folded if you return! The breakfast is included and has more than enough to choose from. Only thing that can be improved is the instant coffee. All in all a really nice hotel and it has everything in the old center within a 10 minute walking range. To conclude that a stay at Do Carmo doesn't cost you the world I can really recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy your holiday on Madeira!

Close to the city centre, easy access to take the tour buses, clean, pool, nice staff.

A nice hotel, well located, and that stayed true to a beautiful decor of the Sixties, with good taste.
Nice services and especially a very good welcome. Two strengths added to the central location, a very well stocked breakfast buffet and the rooftop pool.
Enough to start the day and finish it in beauty.

Great hotel with friendly staff. We stayed for 5 nights and the location is close to bus stops, amenities, old town and the main city center. We used the pool a few times on the roof and the hotel offers a nice terrace. Breakfast is ok, small choice of hot food but there are cereals, breads, yogurt and ham.

The hotel is quite fine. Room is perfect for sleeping.
The bathroom boxes with a shower tub, the size fits the room. The bathroom and also the room have come a little in the years, partly here and there something broken.
To turn on the light in the room or in the bathroom, the room card must be inserted next to the door (see photo).
There is a small balcony to sit on in the evening with two people, it is completely enough.
The staff at the front desk is very nice and friendly.
There are a few limited parking spaces in front of the hotel, per day €6.
The breakfast is relatively small but it is enough. Variety at breakfast is not available, but it is all fresh and it is always re-laid.
