Food is superb clean rooms great staff walkway to the beach.

Great food and amazing location. Outdoor pool and gardens and tennis plus crazy golf and happy hour every night. Built in the 1960s it's not for young people who want a party lifestyle and night life.

Beach front. Lots of space at pool side lovely sun loungers and mats… Nice snack bar… Crazy golf is good fun… 6 till 7 half price cocktails very nice… Good English breakfast… Nice selection of buffet evening meal.

As part of a group of ten when we arrived quick organised reception service. The hotel well yes it is old but all of us agreed the rooms were spacious the beds and bathrooms were fine. We are B&B the breakfast selection is great for all tastes excellent coffee. Sat outside on an evening good stocked bar the service was good for a busy hotel bar. Drinks brought out and served at your table. Big pool (Cold) and a children’s pool. Plenty of poolside beds and umbrellas. Towels available with a deposit. Poolside bar friendly good range of snack style meals.

What an amazing beach. Beautiful sand, miles of decking and lots of new restaurants along the beach. Superb breakfast at the hotel and adequate room.

Fantastic hotel our 3rd visit and already planning for next year, the staff are very friendly and obliging. The bar staff are fantastic nothing too much trouble, a credit to the hotel.

Very great location, right on the beach. The hotel is a bit old, but it doesn't stop there. Pool is okay, but what do you want with a pool if you can go straight into the sea? Breakfast is also delicious. Have made us feel very comfortable there.

Nice chilled hotel not luxury just nice very few English which is refreshing.

Beautiful hotel. Not the most modern, although still all the mod cons. Wi-Fi mini bar ect. Think of the hotel in the shinning, but without the horror! It's got private access to the private beach were staff are there to monitor the beach area. Feels very secure and safe. I had no issues leaving my belongings by my parasol while going for a dip in the sea, knowing the area was being watched. The restaurant is quite nice, excellent choice of buffet style dining. Rooms are again a little dated, but clean and tidy. Showers probably the best I've ever had. Two separate shower heads, one so powerful it could jet wash your patio. Would definitely return.

Hotel is quite nice, perfect location next to the beach. However, for some reasons, it astonishingly frequented by old Dutch people. Don’t go there if you are under 70!

The unbeatable site. Fantastic beaches and a few meters. We went in low season so the buffet was not very varied. But it's all perfect.

This is a really nice hotel, yes it does need some upgrading but it has a lovely feel about it. Plenty of lounge areas and a welcoming bar, the entertainment is better than some we have experienced. It's a shame that the seafront of Monte Gordo is a building site at the moment. They have removed all the beach bars, built a new boardwalk and have several areas along it where there will be many new restaurants etc but the work is noisy and disruptive. We will definitely return and would like to reassure future visitors that this work is being carried out by the local authorities and out of the hands of the owners of the hotel.

Love this hotel. Its decor is dated but fits the hotel. Staff are very helpful and Friendly it is clean and tidy. Friendly people. Lovely views. Lovely beach.

One of the best hotels (for me) of Monte Gordo. You have access to the beach from him.

Very good hotel at the foot of the beach, but rather keep it as bed and breakfast the evening meal is more of an English flunch. Clientele mainly Anglo-Saxon, average age in 75 years… adorable and competent staff.

Very good location on the beach, cleanliness, good food, tranquility. I recommend it. I'm going back.

The position of the hotel is excellent and the beech is outstanding. We enjoyed the food especially the dinner. We had an enjoyable Xmas dinner with live music and dancing. It is our second Xmas holiday at this hotel and it is value for money. Although the hotel needs some updating especially the common areas our room this year which had a sea view was better than last year. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The bar prices are a bit too steep but there is a happy hour. During day time it was a bit too noisy because they were updating some of the rooms but to compensate it we were offered free drinks at the pool cafe. The gym was well equipped but for winter holidays it needs an internal swimming pool.

This is our second visit to Monte Gordo, staying at Hotel Vasco da Gama and once again we have been very happy with our stay. Our room this time was on the ground floor and didn't have a view, but that as offset by the fact that the room was one of the refurbishment ones and it was excellent, with flat screen TV, mini fridge, hairdryer and the most comfortable beds. The towels were big, white and fluffy and changed regularly. We had booked half-board for the week and the food was more than adequate. Breakfast consisted of the usual continental choices of various hams, cheeses, yogurts, fruit and bread rolls as well as cooked choices of bacon, sausages, eggs, fruit juices etc. The evening meal buffet also has lots of choices from soups, salads, fish and meat dishes, pasta vegetarian choices and cakes icecreams and of course a variety of fruit. The only downside here was that it was often crowded and it was sometimes difficult to get a table unless you were willing to queue first thing (something we hate doing) Nevertheless it has to be said all the staff go out of their way to ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible. We didn't use the pool, the beach being so close but others told us it was excellent and there are numerous places with sunbeds dotted around the hotel, to enjoy a lay in the sun. The hotel is spotlessly clean and we have enjoyed our stay so much we have booked to stay again next year.

A very cozy hotel both in the winter and in summer cleaning and good food with variety.

Mold in the room cleaning lady just doesn't come, Vllr no buck to work?
So i'll pay for it and i'll have to clean it up!

My wife and I have had a similar experience to Kim Palmer.
We booked a three week half board holiday with Monarch and unfortunately they ceased trading during our stay.
We were telephoned in our room this week and asked if we would call in at reception at our convenience. When at reception we were informed that as Monarch had ceased trading we now had to pay for our stay. Under the circumstances this was not unexpected but the amount requested for our stay was more than we had paid Monarch for our holiday including flights with extra legroom seats! After a discussion with reception a discount was given.
We have been coming to this hotel for the past 16 years, sometimes twice a year and were very disappointed at the hotel wanting to charge us such an excess amount when surely Monarch would have received a large discount.
We will certainly consider whether to spend our money coming to this hotel in the future.

The hotel, the complex and the way to the beach are beautiful. Also the shops are not necessarily typical tourist shops. The food is very good and the allergens are perfectly excellent. Thank you very much for that.

Very nice garden house with swimming pools, very friendly, clean, good food, barely modernized baths, doors and cupboards (hotel dates from the 60s years), very large rooms, bathroom with two sinks, bathtub and Bedet.

Value for money on the region.

I was positively surprised by the hotel. The rooms are in my opinion different from the quality. Our room was slightly rundown while my parents room looked renovated but we had a great sea view and the breakfast was just great. Many German TV stations (not that this would be important on holiday). A lot of effort will be made to meet the guests ' wishes.

Very good location, modern rooms.

Hotel is located at the beach. It has two swimming pools, gym, mini-golf course, bar and several other facilities. Rooms are nice, equipped with mini-bar (that is actually a fridge). Food is simply delicious and the variety of meals almost makes choice difficult. Helpful staff offers great service and can help with most problems (though I don't recall having any problems myself). The hotel itself is quite old, so if you are into modern designs you could be a bit disappointed, but if you don't mind the decor you would feel cozy. The only thing that may be awkward is a bathroom with an old-fashioned (in hotel terms at least) tub. Fifth floor is worth visiting, as it looks a bit like under ship's deck.

Hotel Vasco da Gama, Monte Gordo needs updating urgently. The carpets are threadbare and there are huge stains on the walls. On the other hand, the view of the sea is amazing and the area is very quiet, the staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. The food in the restaurant was directed mainly against the Germans, and there were times when we had to eat, even though we were half board. The room was clean and towels changed every day, but it wanted to decorate. We reported some problems for 3 days before they were to see. We had a terrible thunderstorm one night which flooded our room, how the rain under the door on the terrace and through the window came, it took seven hours for the room, to be sorted out. The hotel must complete as we renovated, feel that we do not value for money received.

Aug/Sept 2011 stayed here. Apartment stayed in Duplo. Self catering, supposed to do but not many devices. Managed to coffee and a couple of times swept some noodles and salad make. Room clean and comfortable. Room cleaning every day. TV and air con. Excellent breakfast buffet in the hotel. Great location right on the beach. Looking at most definitely coming back.

Who wants to experience a beautiful beach holiday, I was in the hotel Vasca as Gama doing so well, good breakfast (fresh orange very enjoyed) price/performance tune.

We have four lived in the bungalow. Three storey two bedroom, two bathrooms, a large living room with kitchenette. It was all nigel nail new. There were 3 flatscreen-TV BB´s, the cabinets were very large and had a light that came on when you opened it, the Windows have mosquito grid and there is also a refrigerator in the kitchenette. The food was very good. In the evening, also fish was freshly prepared. The staff was all very nice. There were also Internet, which was however rather slow and where the mouse out has spun. But the guy at the front desk helped happy! You couldn't really make party. But the Sangria and cocktails in the hotel are very good! The pool is great and you can swim even railways. The beach is perfekt-close call and super sand. At low "tide" can walk great. If one walks on the promenade in the evening you should really try these donuts with cinnamon and sugar. They taste really great! Great holiday.
