On a 2 week holiday to Portugal with the other half, we wanted to do something special on one of the evenings. I had researched this restaurant (thank you other Trip Advisor reviewers) and persuaded the husband that this was the place to go. Even better we discovered it was right next door to the hotel we stayed at.
From the very minute we set foot on the restaurant, I was sure that this was going to be an absolute pleasure. The quiet understated luxury was evident from our journey up the lovely carpeted stairs. We were instantly greeted by the waiter and seated at a lovely table with a great sea view. The table linen and cutlery were of the highest standards, the glasses were spotless and drinks were brought quickly. I asked for a wine recommendation and was really pleased with the Paxa Sauvignon Blanc from the Algarve region. Delicious.
For starter I had the Flamed Prawns and my husband had the pate. Perfect portions, juicy well cooked prawns and the pate was the smoothest I have ever tasted. We were brought a little vegetable spring roll with chilli sauce as a taster and this was also delicious.
Main course took since deliberating over as the choice was amazing. (We choose the a la carte menu). I opted for catch of the day which was Swordfish (medium to well) and my husband opted for the fillet steak (medium). Both dishes were exceptional. The fish held beautifully, the accompaniments were fresh not oily, and the white wine foam was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and glided off the knife.
For dessert we opted for the chocolate cake which we were told would take 25 minutes as it is freshly baked. This suited us as we dont like to rush our meal. It was worth waiting for as our was the best chocolate dessert we have both ever had. The ice cream was delicious and worked very well with the ganache and raspberry sauce.
Overall we felt like very welcome guests at the restaurant. We were never rushed, the waiters were attentive (Pedro and Jimmy looked after us) but not overwhelming. This restaurant is an absolute treat and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Lagos area who want to do a very special night out. I'd recommend booking (which was also so easy and well managed).
Thank you Vivendo for a wonderful evening.
