Clean but falls down on room-size, noise, food There are 2 or 3 hotels in the castle grounds and about 3 mins' walk away. The 3-star Zamkowy is one of them. (If by bus, the number 8 runs hourly to nearby — about 5 mins walk, 12 bus 20-25 mins' walk or more. If by car, quite a few car parks. ) The room I had was pretty small, especially width. I would say it was smaller than most but not the smallest I've ever seen. Importantly, the bathroom was immaculately clean, sufficient toiletries, clean and ample towels, nice and warm. Some of the Reception staff were great, some were rather less meritorious. Here the positives pretty much end or at least tail-off. No tea or coffee in the room unless you ask. TV set in the wrong place. Window for ventilation in the room is blocked for all but the most nimble and long-armed to reach the window handle by leaning over the desk and TV. Such a bad idea to arrange it like that — but they have little choice as the room is narrow. The 2 single beds pushed together were okay, if a little worn support in my mattress and the pillow large but too high for my neck. Worst was the noise. You can hear the plumbing and next door's shower door sliding around, the toilet cistern refilling and even conversation if you go to the bathroom wall (they seem arranged bedroom wall-bathroom wall). Despite very high ceilings, I could hear upstairs stomping around. And when one of the neighbours used the loo in the middle of the night, I was woken up.
Stayed a few nights and attended a wedding. Had a great time. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff of the hotel and restaurant we're very friendly and the service was very good.
