I DO NOT RECOMMEND staying at this hotel. The place is quite dirty and there is not hot water (actually the water in the shower is very cold, it was the coldest among every place I stayed in South America). Furthermore, during the check-out, the host lady performed very detailed “inspection”, looking through the bedsheets etc. As she was trying to find something for what she could charge us and as if she was not doing the laundry after every guests (which is disgusting). When she saw the towels, she indicated that they’re stained (i could barely see it, and I don’t think that we stained them) and charged us 15$ for them. She accused my friend that she stained it with makeup foundation (which she has never used in her life :) ). It looked like she already has a set price and is hunting for naive tourists to extort money from them. Foreign tourists’ money took over her mind. Not a very pleasant first expression of Peru : (

I spent 5 days in Akumal and it was very enjoyable. I booked it very last minute and Lucia and her family was very friendly to us and gave us some advices of what to see and where to go.
Rooms have a good size, the shower was also good and the pool area is nice to just lay down and relax in the hammock. The place is very close to the beach and also to the main road. Besides, they have a very good price 😃
I had some problems with a kitesurfing school close by and Lucia did everything she could to help me so if anyone needs anything around Mancora, check with Lucia first. She has a good heart.

Brilliant Hostel, clean facilities, hot showers, and a short walk to the beach! Ideal for a low cost trip to Mancora. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, recommended so much to do in Peru especially with hiking trails throughout central and south Peru.
