Gocta Andes Lodge

A beautiful setting and very comfortable rooms with spectacular views of Gocta Falls. Had a great four nights and enjoyed hiking and the excursions offered to kuelap and other area ruins. Hike to Gocta Falls was a highlight.
Good food in the restaurant and excellent service overall.

To start with we asked for an airport shuttle but got no response, but OK it happens. Then we arrived very tired and sick at 11:30 a. M. We asked for our room as soon as possible, we were able to go lie down at 2:30 p. M… but OK.
While waiting for our room we noticed that the promotional photos no longer corresponded to reality: a filthy building blocking a view that was supposed to be heavenly… But I imagine they are not responsible for their neighbors, OK…
We were very tired and sick so we tried to rest! But huge construction work is underway making a lot of noise in the afternoon, but in the morning from 7am it is the guides and the staff who talk loudly in front of rooms 1 to 8… sorry but it's starting to be a lot!
The rooms 11 to 18 are facing the filthy wall limiting their view to a square of lawn.
Already the rooms are spacious and clean, but the bed was very hard, not firm just hard!

The hotel is well located in the locality of Cocachimba. Just at 5 min of the point where the trail to Gocta waterfall starts. It also has a privileged view of the waterfall from the hotel. But not all rooms may have this view so you will need to ask when you book. People are kind but lack some sympathy when they are attending to you. The rooms were really cozy and always kept clean.

Amazing view, service and staff. 15 min walking you get to See the spatula colibrí. Great for family trip. The guides for the tours were super help full, edúcate and polite. Highly recommended. This place is one of a Kind.

We were here for four nights and had a lovely time. We hiked the Gotca waterfall, went to Kuelap, plus a visit to the Karajia Sarcophagus and the Cave. The bed was super comfortable. The views of the waterfall are amazing, breakfast seeing the Alpacas munching on the grass is cute. The stay is genuinely attentive and caring. Food was solid, we probably tried 75% of the items.
Chicken Milanese with Pesto pasta was great. The Trout was solid. Chicken Fingers with Avocado really good as were the Quinoa Balls also with avocado. The best desert was the Flan; creamy, dense with exploding flavors. Only two items were uh; Almond Chicken (zero flavor) and Apple Crumble (filling was fine, crust was too thick and fell apart. Wine list was fine. While there we had both breakfast experiences; menu and buffet, both were a solid way to start the day. Plenty of protein with either option.
As the hotel is in the country if one is susceptible to bug bites recommend packing insect repellent.

The view to the Gocta cataracts from our room and from most of the hotel is awesome. The level of attention and friendliness of the hotel personal is outstanding.
The cost/benefit is on the travelers side.
The lodge organized pick and visits to the Gocta.

Our four-day stay at Gocta Eco Lodge was an absolute dream. Perched in the stunning landscapes of Chachapoyas, this lodge perfectly combines luxury, nature, and exceptional service.
We stayed in a suite, which was beautifully designed with high ceilings, a spacious and well-equipped bathroom, and an extremely comfortable bed that ensured restful nights. The attention to detail was impeccable, and the A1 service made us feel truly taken care of.
One of the standout features of the lodge is its two stunning infinity pools, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Gocta Falls and the lush green surroundings. Taking a dip while admiring the landscape was an unforgettable experience.
The tours were excellently organised, with knowledgeable and friendly guides who made each excursion engaging and insightful. Exploring Gocta Falls with such a well-planned itinerary added to the magic of the experience.
If there is one small opportunity for improvement, it would be the addition of a bathtub in the bathroom, which would elevate the already luxurious experience even further.
Overall, Gocta Eco Lodge is a must-visit destination for those seeking peace, adventure, and top-tier hospitality in one of Peru’s most breathtaking locations. Highly recommended!

We spent two nights here, in a room on the second floor in one of the new extensions, with a great few of the falls. I would commend this hotel to anyone visiting Gocta Falls.
The photos you see of the hotel and its views of the falls are not doctored, that is really what you see.
The restaurant (you can eat either inside or outside) has a view of the falls. We enjoyed both our breakfasts and dinners here. Also nice for a Pisco Sour any time.
Serve is very friendly and willing, but, as with local staff in remote locations, can be a bit stuttering occasionally.
We did not walk all the way to the falls — we stopped at a cafe about half way. To a certain extent, it did not seem worth the aggro of hiking all the way there, when you get as good, if not better, view from this hotel.
We would have like to have stayed longer. The little town is still evolving, and the main reason would have been to enjoy the hotel and its grounds.

You come for the view and you want to stay for the view.
Really.
Every morning, despite the roosters waking us up too early and the mattresses that could be a tad softer, we woke up with a smile and a sense of marvel as we drew the curtains on a view coming straight out of a painting.
After that, we had an amazing breakfast, with something new every morning.
We then went out on adventures with our guide Jhon: walking to the Gocta Falls, Kuelap, Caverns and Cliffside and thousand year old sarcophagi.
Coming back to an open pool with… again that crazy view!
And ending it with fantastic dinner directly at the Lodge.
The communication around the time of departure could be improved, as we more than once got conflicting information, but I'd still go back and highly recommend.

Rooms — Clean, very nice, spacious, well decorated. The view of the waterfall from the room is simply breathtaking. There is a fan in the room, however no A/C. Isn’t really much of an issue though, due to relativity comfortable temperatures. Yoga mats were included in the room on the outside deck, which is really perfect spot for some yoga.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner — superb selection and service, we enjoyed every single dish that we tried.
Experience — overall, phenomenal. The only “negatives” I can mention 1) there were construction crews and improvements going on during our stay. The noises were pretty loud during the day while enjoying the pool. I understand why these are necessary, just would have been nice to be notified prior to our stay. 2) the road conditions were very rough. It is understandable that road improvements are taking place to improve infrastructure; however there was no warning of road closures (some cause 30-45 min delays) and also conditions that were present while inquiring about booking. Tours from here were great. John was one of the tour guides who really stood out, he did a great job on our trip to Kuelap. The guide to the waterfall was also great. The service at the hotel is truly amazing and very welcoming.

Location is perfect for a few days to see the falls, bird watch, & if feeling adventurous to go off trail.
After a day of hiking the pool is perfect for a cold water plunge.
It made a difference the next day.
All our meals where great & the bar was a plus.

An excellent experience of disconnection in a very warm atmosphere, a city with a lot of potential, with very friendly and attentive people, delicious food and drinks and a very complete tourist program to enjoy the places that the region offers. Perfect for friends, families and couples.

This lodge is amazing! The most gorgeous views of the Gocta Waterfall. The staff is so helpful and kind. The rooms are beautiful and clean. And we had the most magical time staying here. I would highly recommend!

They were very helpful providing transportation from Tarapoto and to all of our trips. The view from our room was breathtaking and the food was also quite good. One of the tour guides sold us expired coffee beans and that is why the — 1 star. He told us to not buy from the store and that he had some straight from the owners of the company. It sounded better for the business but yet it seemed he had been carrying around this bag for over a year as it also showed wear to the package…

The suites are just "WOW" — beautiful rooms, excellent bedding, bathroom, balcony, and superb views of the mountains and the Gocta waterfall. The breakfast offers fresh fruits and nicely cooked choices including eggs to order. The hotel also has a lunch and dinner restaurant with food from different regions of Peru. The restaurant attendant (Jose) was just great! We purchased 2 excursions: Gocta Falls, and Kuelap. Make sure you're in a reasonable physical shape to do the 2-hour hike to the Gocta Falls. If not, you should use a horse, which is readily available for 40 soles (about $10). Skip the Kuelap excursion! Kuelap was closed, but nobody told us that we couldn't get inside. That was a waste of money and time.

My husband and I along with our tour guide and driver didn't 3 nights here. What a beautiful lodge! We upgraded our room which looked out to the falls, mountains and woods. Stunning! Large balcony with comfortable lounge chairs, spacious room with a large and very comfortable bed, and nice washroom with large walk-in shower. Good and fruit beverages were good and restaurant seating area gorgeous. Enjoyed alpacas on the grounds. Well recommended!

A fantastic 4 night stay at Gocta lodge in late April with our family of 4. The lodge was quiet unfortunately, as tourism still effected (unnecessarily IMO), however the staff and service was excellent. Great food and nice drinks, with the views and pool obviously a highlight. We did the walk to the falls as well as some other walks in the area. Excellent guides available through the lodge. Highly recommended for families as well as travellers who love the outdoors.
