Dalen Bed & Breakfast

The staff, especially the owner Olivier, is described as extremely friendly, hospitable, and attentive. The host often acts as a guide, offering excellent tips for exploring the local area, recommending hiking routes, and providing maps marking wildlife spotting locations. However, one guest noted receiving inaccurate information regarding the duration of a canoe trip to Lunde and Skien.

Guests are very satisfied with the breakfast, describing it as good, delicious, and varied. The selection includes freshly baked bread rolls and a generous assortment of spreads. Breakfast is described as simple yet high-quality, and guests can also prepare packed lunches for the road in the dining area.

Reviews regarding the rooms are mixed. Many guests praise the cleanliness, order, and comfortable beds, describing the rooms as cozy and newly renovated. However, there are also distinctly negative reviews: one guest reported finding bloodstains on the bedding, while another described a basement room as very dark, windowless, and poorly ventilated. It was also noted that some rooms are quite cramped and the furniture can be worn.

Some rooms experience ventilation issues. Guests have noted the absence of fans in smaller rooms and shower areas, requiring windows to be kept open constantly. One visitor mentioned that the basement room was very dark and stuffy.

Basic amenities are provided in the rooms; however, some guests noted certain shortcomings, such as the lack of shampoo in the shower. In one instance, a guest who booked an apartment with a kitchen found that the kitchen was not functional and lacked pots and pans. An issue regarding a missing smoke detector in one of the rooms was also raised.

Value for money remains a subject of debate. Some guests consider the rates reasonable for a cozy stay. Others feel the hotel is overpriced, citing rates of 1,860–1,900 NOK per night, which they found excessive for small rooms with limited comfort and, in specific cases, subpar service.

Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Dalen Bed & Breakfast, with canoes equipped with convenient storage barrels. There is also an on-site sauna that guests highly recommend. The owner is available to assist with booking taxis or boat arrangements.
