Nice hotel, fantastic deco along spiral staircase, clean room, good buffet breakfast, complimentary hot beverages anytime. Enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Oslo. Definitely worth it!

Perfect location and breakfast.

A quaint hotel situated in the heart of the oslo city. It was a boon to stay there as all the major attractions are walking distance. Also the shopping district is a stone throw distance. The hotel is surrounded by really nice restaurants and you really can have each meal in the day of a different cuisine. The lobby of the hotel has a little old feel but the rooms are good. They have single rooms which can be a bit claustrophobic but if you are on budget and want to live in a central spot then at least you get this budget option. It is highly recommended.

Supercentral hotel in an old Oslo palace. Beautiful interiors especially the staircase. No air conditioning and here can get very hot. Breakfast on the top floor in the attic with beautiful exposed beams.

Location is very central, close to the train station, bus station and downtown. In front of the door is a large beautiful park. The room was very cozy. The décor was antique in style. The bathroom met the standards. The breakfast was excellent and extensive. There was a wide selection of dishes including waffles and pancakes as well as various egg dishes. In the courtyard there is a central ventilation system, which was noisy all night.

Room was small. Bathroom had just a shower. One pillow only. Minibar wanted £20 for a miniature red wine. No iron. No fridge. No pool. No electric next to bed. At £200 a night this place was 4x more expensive than the decor deserved.

Great hotel in a great location. Right in the middle of Karl Johan gate, you definitely pay for the location. Rooms were quite small but well taken care of and equipped. The bathrooms are surprisingly nice with a good shower pressure. The beds are to die for, so comfortable, I had a great night's sleep, and absolutely can recommend if you're wanting to explore Oslo.

Good location however when we were in Norway the temperature was in the hight 20's. There was no air conditioning in the room meaning that the temperature was 34 for the duration of our stay. Not suitable in hot weather. Hotel decor and rooms could do with some revamping. N.

Old hotel and a bit of a maze. Great location on the main drag of Oslo. The room was well appointed but AC was non existent, even with windows open and desktop fan on full it was an uncomfortably warm night. The staff were great, very helpful and cheerful.

Great location, and great breakfast. The rooms can get very hot, though, and there was noisy construction in the street that woke us up every morning. I should add, I live in a city, half a block off a major street, so I'm used to city noises.

On Oslo's main street and in the heart of the city centre, you will find the Best Western Karl Johan Hotell, a historic hotel built in 1899. The hotel is located next to the parliament and short walking distance to a variety of museums, attractions, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel has 114 rooms, as well as three meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of 60 people.

I love hotels like this. Huge staircase with art and mirrors. Nice breakfast.

Very small rooms. Expensive hotel. The one good that you in the best and main street.

7DF-20B: Very old building and probably the tiniest room I have ever stayed in. Smaller than my closet in our house. Breakfast was really good and had good variety. Location of the hotel was good also. Walking distance to the harbor, palace and museums.

Centrally located. Small rooms but well maintained. Curteous and helpful staff, ready with directions and recommendations when asked. It's worth noting that there is a night club adjascent to the hotel and it is quite noisy on weekend nights so bring your ear plugs.

Room was huge. Great location in the center of everything. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was wonderful. Hotel is old but has character and is well maintained. I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to a friend.

Never seen soap dispensers in showers before and no soap provided gives the place a cheap crappy feeling. Its like the owners dont give.

Room was good, clean and the beds so comfy with great views of the street and parks. Can easily walk to most of the cities tourist locations.

I use Best Western Karl Johan as my base for meetings and business in Oslo. The hotel is in the very center of Oslo, next to the main street Karl Johan. The hotel has a very good atmosphere and is very well sheltered for noise from the street. The hotel has a very good conference — and meetingfaclities with all rights. The hotel staff are very helpful and have very good experience. As I consider the hotel as my second home, it is therefore important that you are being well followed up by the hotel staff. Everyone, from the maid service, the breakfast service, the reception and the management, has the highest standard. I can safely recommend this hotel to people on holiday, for families and for business purposes.

The rooms are not impressive, and there are no food service besides breakfast. There are 3 clubs located at the first floor without any affiliation to the hotel, so be prepared to be up until 3 at night when they finally turn the music off. Location is about as central as it gets, however it doesnt make up for the downsides of staying here.

The single room is quite small but clean facilities more polarized. Great location, it's near city center and sightseeing.

Although it is and old building, it is a good place to stay. Harder to get wireless in some of the rooms. Breakfast is at the top floor. Central location.

Hotel position is good. Room was hot and had to turn fan on. Perhaps it was summer. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good. Staff Zita was very friendly and helpful with enquiries about tourist places and restaurants. She recommended a japanese restaurant which is within walking distance from hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal there. It takes 20 minutes to walk to Central Train station.

Clean rooms, nice staff, great location.

The hotel is ideally placed. A bit loud however. But I recommend it.

Reception helpful and friendly. But we've got a "double", which was so small that we could not accommodate our suitcases. The "double bed" has shrunk to a slightly larger single bed. Unreasonable! But maybe bad luck had other rooms and we. The hotel is located on a celebration mile. The night was celebrated. Each! Incredibly loud. The Norwegians are a funny people. Apart from that, you can stay 1-2 days there. Who likes to celebrate. But one is located in Oslo and the station is also not far.

Em! its now 5 o clock in the morning, I have been awake now since 3 o clock. We are at the front of the hotel 3rd floor. Friday and saturday night we had noise from the bar below and this morning street cleaners. The room and hotel were overall very good. The self service counters for breakfast were a bit small for the amount of guests. Going back to the noise factor! seriously if you are a light sleeper do not have a room at the front of this hotel.

Located in the center of the city. Parking outside. The coffee and thea facilities in the business lounge are working ok again. Bathroom sizes 70*75 cm. Free Internet by The Cloud.

After we at short notice are been reposted by the travel agency in this hotel, we both by its central location, large and clean rooms, excellent breakfast and the friendly and helpful staff were impressed.
But already the first night (and the next two) instructed us quickly a better. After we had (contrary to our booking! ) to get a room to "out front", was no longer to think about sleep.
It may be so understandable that the Norwegians briefly for the summer to excess use and into it loudly celebrate until the early hours of the morning. Then at least double-glazed insulated Windows default should be in a hotel in this location and category.
Conclusion: only 3 star despite the good performance of the hotels due to the unbearable noise factor.
